I'm Malaysian. When I'm abroad the most thing I miss most is 24/7 halal food restaurant (we call mamak) last time we have McD (before boycott) and yeah halal food everywhere no issues. 2ndly, most of petrol pump stations have prayer room which make easy for us coz u can find petrol pump station every 500m-1km. Mosque and Surau everywhere. Very easy to plan your praytime but we always take it for granted 😢

I am British Born and Raised , in my 40s and 3rd generation British Pakistani ... just because my Grandpa's made England their home, doesn't mean this has to be my last stop. Everyday I wakeup excited and thankful that I am part of that Migration wave who have been gifted Foresight/Enlightenment and the Privilege of Education to move anywhere in the World. I am in my early stages of mapping my exit from a country which is now firmly my family home, the UK.. and in the midst of identifying where I would like to resettle - where folk are better aligned to my international global values.

As a Malaysian, other than my country (of course), I love Turkey -- so beautiful, so many things explore, steep in multilayers of history. I just can't manage the weather well, coming from a hot and humid country. But, I will definitely visit Turkey again if I have the chance.

The allure of Malaysia for me lies in its Islamic culture. Having spent over 30 years in the Netherlands and almost 17 years in Morocco, I've come to appreciate the values and traditions rooted in Islam. As an IT manager in an international company and with my wife employed in education, we're financially secure. However, raising our children and grandchildren here poses significant risks. Morally, there's a concerning trend that seems to escalate daily, making it increasingly difficult to maintain our values and principles.
What's stopping you from moving? I'm curious to know.. is it the feeling of unsettling the kids? The discomfort of disruptive a settled life?

I worry about the difficulty my children might face living away from family, fearing they may feel entirely disconnected. Thus, regardless of the decision, it remains a formidable challenge.
Understood. In your case, definitely more challenging.. may be you can look at how you can go and stay there for short Bursts of time to first see if the family likes it or not

AND OMG you spot on the reasons why we want to leave as muslims, Canada is getting so bad and especially with the current genocide, we see the true face of western countries. Few years ago we didn't thought of leaving, but now we just can't wait. Indonesia and Malaysia are our top choices, the only issue i have with Malaysia, they continue to change the mm2h program and raise, double the financial requirement, 98% of malaysian don't even meet the requirement, so not sure if its worth the investment compared to Indonesia, whats your take about it?

If you are considering Turkey, I suggest learning the language. Even in major cities learning the language is essential. Overall, a fantastic place and checks off many boxes.

Sorry to ask. Why don't you choose Pakistan, India or Bangladesh? You came from one of these countries before moving to Australia and it's cheaper. Plus, you definitely won't have problems with the language. So it's more convenient for your family to move back. And you'll also have your parents & your relatives nearby in case of emergencies.
Their parents or grandparents were the one that migrated to the West, not they themselves, hence why they're British citizens born and raised in the UK. They don't have no connection with where their parents came from
Btw, for most of these couples who had migrated to Muslims countries, only one of the spouses are ethnically Pakistani or Bangladeshi but the other half are white Caucasian who reverted to Islam.
Yeah that's a good point, and for a lot of people they considered it, even us, being originally from Bangladesh. The points you raised are valid, but I suppose for us having lived and become accustomed to a western life (and also for some of the people we covered, they were born and raised overseas), so finding a common ground seemed more sustainable. But yes, surely something to consider

English proficiency is another reason to come to Malaysia. Even in small towns and villages, many can converse well in English or at least have basic (or broken yet understandable) communication in English without the need to refer to Google Translates.

Some of these countries which you have mentioned have become aware of this 'international migration phenomenon' and have taken steps to capitalise on it but also limit it. Many locals have also the same feeling. My advice is tread this path carefully. The Truth is many eventually leave these places you mentioned because living there as a tourist is not the same as living there as a local

Malaysia is great for Muslims but very hard to get a long term visa unless u have a lot of money. Believe me, I tried but I couldn’t find a way to stay longer than 3 months at a time
Now they have a 1 year (renewable) digital nomad visa, and they also updated their MM2H visa as well... but yes, you need to show foreign income, which is understandable. Alternatively, you take take the risky route of visa runs (which many people do).. but they are cracking down on it for sure
@@tinydetour I looked into that but again it means having quite a lot of money or a high paying job from a company based outside of Malaysia. I lived there for nearly 3 years on and off but would work in neighbouring countries also like Myanmar and Thailand. The problem is that without a resident permit it’s very hard to get health insurance in Malaysia. My mate was left to basically die in the waiting room of a hospital in kl due to not having the funds to pay up front to get seen and it’s only by Allah swt that’s he’s still alive. Malaysia is a lovely place for sure but the time I spent there showed me a few darker realities. I guess nowhere is perfect to be honest
That's sad.. yeah, that's the thing for foreigners. You need to pay upfront and then claim from insurance, which I know is also the same case in a lot of other western countries...

Why the requirement for long term visas is quite high, one of the reasons might be to control the number of foreigners in Malaysia. FYI, many locals actually struggle due to the low rate of salary here. If so many foreigners come in large numbers, the locals will suffer. Foreigners with a high rate of currency enjoy the convenience due to the low exchange rate of the ringgit, but we ourselves will struggle and suffer due to our low salary here. Subsidies that should be given to locals can also be enjoyed by foreigners. In the future, these subsidies will be eliminated, so locals will suffer more. Did you know, the Malaysian government has spent millions of ringgit especially in the case of sending thousands of immigrants who entered Malaysia illegally. These costs include the cost of food, accommodations, and transportation before they were sent back to their country of origin. Other than that, the latest information says that Malaysian hospitals have to bear the burden of foreigner's unpaid medical bills of up to RM100 million due to those who are careless in paying these medical bills. This is the report for the end of the year 2023. FYI, in most cases, hospitals in Malaysia will typically prioritize medical treatment first rather than asking foreigners to pay a deposit before payment. What happened was that many of them ran away and were delinquent in paying the medical bill.
The main thing is western ideologies are prevalent in society , work, education , nhs...the system does not align with our beliefs...it never did..but somehow we managed to coexist, but now its not a place to raise children

As someone from UK I honestly believe the racism issue is a bit silly. Compared to what it was like when I grew up in 80s and 90s things have improved massively, the issue is the comments section on right wing articles and social media give a misconception that the whole country is racist when its not. My main issue with UK is the dam weather.

From a physical harm perspective, it has definitely improved over the years, but it still in the memory of a lot of people given either them or their parents faced them, esp those of South Asian Muslim backgrounds. Also, we must not forget, Brexit happened not so long ago, and it wasn't all just economics 🙏
I tend to agree. As a student in England in the 80's I've only been accosted once and then it was by drunks, but not too badly. I still have many British friends. Since coming back home (Malaysia) after Uni, I've visited UK very often, feeling comfortable with the life there. I actually enjoy the colder weather but pine for summer weather when I stayed there. For me, the bland foods and really expensive cost of living are the downsides of living in the UK.
@@tinydetour yes Brexit happened and the result so far has been more immigration from Non European countries, also with Brexit believe it or not plenty of Muslims supported it. If you look at some of the EU countries they have blatant open Anti Muslim policies and views especially countries like France and some of the east European countries.

Yeah totally understand. The prejudice (even if not openly) is higher towards those who visibly look muslim
if one 'hesitate' choosing Malaysia, and then start comparing other countries which never even close compare to ethnicities, cultural diverse, English is almost consider as our 1st language spoken as well as how affordable the livelihood and lifestyle, then better not move to Malaysia. We do not welcome people who have 2nd doubts about us.

Yeah, it's not cheap, but it's still going to be cheaper than private schooling in the west. Although a lot of them actually home schools or send their kids to Islamic schools
International school here it cost around MYR1000 per month. In Australia, its cost average $6000/year..
In some places upto 40k aud per year... we say mont kiara international school was around 20k aud per year
You can get semi private schools at affordable pricing. The Chinese Schools are really affordable. For Arabic class you can find it easily

My dear brother and sister. The main reason to move from a western country to one of these countries is the Migration legislation by your maker and creator. Lets read Surah A-Nissa verse 97 until 100. Read its Tafseer. I wont paste it here as it should be a research topic for curious muslims.

Malaysia is fantastic for muslims. As a matter of government policy, local muslims have a range of privileges when it comes to education and economic opportunities that are not available to non-muslims. It is basically unfair for the chinese and indians which is why they emigrate if they can but it is great for the Malays.

When one live in place where one's faith or ethnic group is a minority, one cannot expect to bring up children nor live in the way according to one's desired religious or ethnic preference. So migrating to another country is not necessarily the best choice. One is still a minority.

@tinydetour well yes, it is Middle East. Heat is almost same as Dubai in Muscat. But the southern part of Oman Salalah has pretty moderate climate. I have lived there for over 17 years and would take Oman any day over Dubai or other Middle Eastern countries.
