He will also get "musky" if you "flood" him cesar millan style during the grooming process. Then he will smell like he went oit in the yard and hot too hot. Why do you think corporate groomers and other high volume shops put perfume on them?

He looks like a big headed rat sometimes. Other times he looks like a teddy bear maltipoo. Lol. He is a good boy about it too. When I let him out the bathroom he goes around the family to show off.

    • Almost the exact same thing happened to me. Around 6 months old took my fur baby to the groomer, for the first time, dog was gone for around 4.5 hours, she came back with strange red marks, really cowering and scared, we never went back. 3 years later I have groomed her myself all this time, it takes love and patience, some basic research, common sense and a willingness to do whats right for your dog. • Sounds like that blade may have been a bit to short and possibly hot. Look at reviews do some research, ask friends who they use and trust. Grooming is not a regulated industry. Anyone can buy equipment and attempt. But definitely not everyone should. It takes a special person to groom pets all day, make sure you find your local good groomer 🐾 If you can't handle it yourself of course. If you can manage it, grooming is an awesome way of bonding with your dogs. But depending on what all your dog need lack of experience, could make it a dangerous experience.

  • I’ve been a groomer for 22 years and this is an ideal dog behaving good on the table. Many pet parents have tried to do the grooming for the dog. About 90% will end up coming in so we can fix the groom🐩or chop job. Hey at least they tried though. They usually tell me how much more respect and now understand how hard our job can be. Remember to tip your groomers please!!! A lot more is involved than just the haircut. Couldn’t count how many dogs have pooped 💩 and peed in the kennel after the wash and cut. And we have to rewash them again. Also please don’t attempt to tt your own dogs nails !!! It only takes 1 time for Kwic to be cut and they will be Anxious every time after for nail trimming😘

  • I learned how to cut a dogs hair when I was a kid through experience, my friend's family used to neglect their cocker spaniel severely and sometimes they would ask me to watch their dog while they were away, I would bathe the dog and trim it's fur as soon as they were gone, I ended up cutting his ears and stabbing him a bit the first few times, and he would struggle and try to bite me when I would cut the fur in front of his eyes, but once he was able to see, he was so docile and would just stand there until I was finished... the dog would be so happy after I was finished though because he could actually see and didn't have painful mats on his fur, but now I would say I learned a lot and can groom very well thanks to that experience.

    • I'd say it depends on the dog. A calm and relaxed dog who trust his human and has a rather "uncomplicated" fur that's is not too matted can probably be groomed at home if the owner has the right grooming tools on hand. But I wouldn't recommend trying this with an anxious dog who's too nervous to stand still and is constantly shifting his body. Or if the dog hasn't been groomed for a long time (or never) , fur totally matted, knots everywhere, claws way too long, tear-stains all around his eyes and nose... Such a dog definitely belongs into the hands of an experienced groomer.

    • Sonja Marx if you let your dog get into that state then perhaps you shouldn’t have a dog. Brushing and bathing your dog regularly is important and helps the dog to get used to grooming of all kinds. Not all dogs need shaving but all dogs need brushing daily x

Only watching this because i am looking to try other styles Im confident enough that i could do any dog and make then look good but not do requests

The hardest thing was to get her to stand up as all she wanted to do was sleep while she was getting groomed. When I was doing her face she was sound asleep with her head on my hand. • 09-20-20: If you can't afford a "professional dog groomer", there are tons of tutorials on how to do it at home, like this one, so teach yourself like I did. It started out slow, but now I'm much better at it and I no longer have to pay the exorbitant fees for my two pups as I previously did. I've got the professional hook-up in my girl cave, complete with everything needed to groom my pups properly. Give yourself a chance to learn how, pocket what you would have paid and use it towards the supplies. It pays for itself eventually with what you would have paid for a professional groomer.

  • While I'm not a groomer, I am a dog owner, and I know to remove the knots BEFORE the bath, otherwise they just mat up faster and worse when they start to dry. I've seen grooming videos where they do the clipping before the bath and it's easier on the dogs (and cats too) because they can remove the mats before they knot up worse.

    @entercreativename@entercreativename4 жыл бұрын
    • It depends on the severity of the knot and honestly if the groomer knows how to properly blowdry a dog. You can blowdry a LOT of looser knots right out of the fur if you know what you're doing.

  • Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book kzhead.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.

I always make sure to cover my dog's eyes with my thumb/index area as I'm clipping so that I would snip myself instead of him if he moved and he's gotten quite used to it but I talk to him and soothe him at the same time just in case and take little breaks. I mainly just do touch ups for him now. The whole thing is too much for me to take on.
