  • The thing with Edwards is that she was homeless, so she had no insurance. The hospital therefore rushed her discharge when she was was clearly not fit for being discharged. They put their profit margin before a human life. Then the police officer took the hospital's word for it and used it to justify ignoring obvious signs of her being in severe need of medical help. If the hospital wouldn't take her, there really not much else he could do, but his attitude was absolutely inexcusable. If it were me, I wouldn't have ignored her obvious medical condition and went in to tell the ER nurses that either they treat her or whoever's in charge is going to face charges under Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act and if she dies from lack of life saving treatment that she obviously needs, a case can be made that her death would be the result of 1st degree murder, that is murder committed with malice and forethought. And think about how much that'll hurt the hospital's profit margins if it comes out they're playing god and intentionally letting people die for money. Frankly I'm surprised the family didn't sue the hospital too.

They apologized for it later and we had a laugh about how crazy she was. Why? I was probably about 230 then, with a ton of muscle from all of that New York City walking. Why? Because i never perceived the police as a threat. I've probably been stopped 20+ times. I yes sir No sir the officers and respond only to what I've been asked, not assume what they're gonna act or extraneous idle chit chat. That's it.
