Lebanon is one of the most diverse countries in the world despite its small size And if you want to taste the real taste of food , you should visit multiple cities as each city has its unique style. Go to Tripoli to taste the sweets and the simple traditional foods Go to beirut to see the modern and diverse food And go check the traditional food in a peaceful experience in the mount lebanon You will have so much fun and much appreciated experience

    • I'm curious, are desserts considered more of a wealthy-class type of food over there? It's crazy that Sonny was able to spend under $5 for full meals and then just a handful of sweets costed him a whole $10. Even in western countries, expensive desserts don't generally cost more than an entire meal.

    • first of all there is no "real pricing" for an assortment dish as it doesn't exist in Lebanon, and even if you individually weighed all of the pieces and priced each one accordingly they won't come close to 10 dollars, more like 5 or 6 tops.

  • the cuisine in the Levant region (including Lebanon) is a mixture of Meditteranean and Middle Eastern cuisines, we use simple, yet fresh ingredients, and add the perfect type of spice to each meal. glad you did not eat a Shawarma (which is considered a street food) because if you did, it will fill you up and you won't have enough oom for any other meal :P

    • @@idanceforpennies281 some people have an endless stomach capacity, but for most people, do you think they will have enough room to eat other meals, after they eat a whole Shawarma wrap? taste-wise, yes, every country, region, city, and restaurant in the whole of levant is fighting to prove they make the best Shawarma, it's not up to me to decide whether thismeal is originally Greek (Gyro) or Turkish (Doner), but we already surpassed the original with our version of it :P glad you enjoyed the Shawerma.

As for food, it is DELICIOUS & AFFORDABLE and I'm from Beirut saying that! No disrespect to Joinieh ir Byblos or Batroun other places as such, but they've been played out too much it is time to check out other places too around Lebanon!

  • It is my opinion that your work is a wonderful exposure to the lives and cultures of people all over the world. The food makes me hungry, or sometimes the opposite, but I am amazed at how wonderful people are to one another (outside of Egypt).   • The old man is named Abou Rami. He is known for being the only one in the shop who rolls the falafel sandwiches. He's very lovely and he's been doing this for years, and it's a family-owned business! Definitely my favorite falafel in the country, alongside a small corner shop in Tripoli.

    • @@basho740 Some places far more than others - very evident when you watch various tourist videos. Think the worst one I saw was Czech Republic, Prague, so many tourist traps there. When it comes to visiting foreign countries with a language you don't speak, having a local guide is key.

    • Sweet pastries in middle east and generally in arabic countries are expensive , since the cost of the nuts is so expensive and the paste inside is literally all nuts , for example tunisia which is an arabic country pistachio is so expensive where most people can’t afford even to buy it let alone buy a large amount of it

  • Great video! What goes in the bread purse is a Hyssop and Sumac mixture not Thyme. The red pickles are turnips. A couple of slices of beets are added to the pickle jar to give the whole thing a pinkish hue.

Quick tip if I can explain well, the piece of bread must be pinched from one side so it takes a scooping shape and then you dip it in the stuff so it can hold whatever you’re dipping it in.

    • 10 is a little too much but still fair! Good baklava needs high quality ingredients and you would be surprised how much nuts are in those things. Especially pistachios and cashews which are already not the cheapest nuts you can find. As an Arab myself I can tell you that baklava and other sweets from good shops are seen as a treat for special occasions and if you receive a baklava tray from guests for example you know and appreciate the value.

  • I highly suggest you try Basturma Bedo or Basturma Mano in Bourj Hammoud, close to Beirut. They're very famous for their sujuk shawarma which not a lot of shawarma places have there. The Lebanon series slays so far
