Local elections: every Dorset council seat is up for grabs

2024 ж. 27 Сәу.
78 109 Рет қаралды

Millions of voters will get their last chance on Thursday to cast a ballot before the general election.
Around 2,600 councillors will be elected in 107 local authorities across England. Labour are expected to make gains - and some polls predict that the Conservatives could lose around half the seats they are defending.
There will also be elections for 10 metro mayors - mostly in the Midlands or north of England
And in addition, across all of Wales and almost all of England, police and crime commissioners are up for re-election on the 2nd of May.
We've been to Dorset, where all county council seats are being contested, and the Lib Dems are hoping to take control from the Conservatives.

  • Even renting nevermind owning a home is unaffordable for most young people in Dorset these days as it is most of the country. A good amount people I use to at least somewhat know, have moved out of the area altogether for more opportunities and likely a cheaper way of life and I can understand that as sad as it is to see. The guy saying they haven't cut any services is rediculous. One of my local bus services went from one bus every 1-2 hours about 10-12 years ago to about 2 per day which for a mostly elderly community around here who can't drive and have no other way of getting to work, school, the hospital, dentist etc is absurd. So I don't believe a word of it. I go around town and see potholes everywhere, businesses unable to either get started or maintain their business because the rates and costs are too high, shops left empty for a year or two in some cases. I love the place but damn, it's just a shell of what it was and could be.
