Local elections: every Dorset council seat is up for grabs
Millions of voters will get their last chance on Thursday to cast a ballot before the general election.
Around 2,600 councillors will be elected in 107 local authorities across England. Labour are expected to make gains - and some polls predict that the Conservatives could lose around half the seats they are defending.
There will also be elections for 10 metro mayors - mostly in the Midlands or north of England
And in addition, across all of Wales and almost all of England, police and crime commissioners are up for re-election on the 2nd of May.
We've been to Dorset, where all county council seats are being contested, and the Lib Dems are hoping to take control from the Conservatives.

can't wait to hear the tories try to lie their way out of this week's batch of defeats
“We’ll the one thing we can take away from these results is that it wasn’t a good night for Labour” says the Tory minister who just oversaw hundreds of councillors lose their seats to Labour because one council went from Labour to no overall control.
😂wwr@@bigslydoc
you sound like a total mark, let me guess Labour would do a better job?
P Harrison why have dogs and bark yourself,?
The Torys are finished in Dorset, look at the decimation of public services
The dimlows of Dorset will vote the Tories back in

I hope you’re right, but I won’t hold my breath.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the electorate.

The tories have obliterated the middle class in Dorset, as well as sticking immigrants on their doorstep. Why would they vote in the Tories.
They've got Suella Braverman close by. That's enough to put anyone off voting for the Tories.
@@marksimons8861she represents Fareham, in neighbouring Hampshire. Unfortunately I’m blessed to live in the same county as her.
@@wessexfox5197 What a stain she is on the whole county. Hope the people of Fareham come to their senses and throw her out.
So who do you want to win
@alextrusk1713 any party which holds true Conservative values. It seems Reform are the closest thing to it at the moment.
Is there a single part of the UK that Boris made promises too that doesn’t feel betrayed?
Scotland. We didn't listen to him because we know a clown when we see one.
@@julianshepherd2038 I hope you are not listening to Reform UK too cos they are out peddling some whoppers at the moment.
he even betrayed himself by breaking his own laws,i guess that he has ended that not so grand old tradition of eton prime ministers for good, but he and his brother father sister all got a few millions more in the families coffers.
His own bubble
You’ll only feel betrayed if you were stupid enough to believe him. How anyone can believe a Tory is beyond me considering what they’ve done to the country in the last 45 years.
Many of them should lose their liberty!
UK IS SCREWED, LIB DEMS!🙄🙄🇬🇧🇬🇧 VOTE REFORM OR HERITAGE PARTY, 3 MAIN PARTIES ARE ALL DEEP STATE STOOGES!😑😑
What about the young families of Dorset that can t afford rent, can t get social housing, because its been sold off, nor can these families fund a mortgages. The Tories have not supported the future, they have funded the retirees.
The tories will lose all on england, not just dorset
They'll be safe in a few areas, but on the whole they'll lose pretty convincingly
The people who’s vote then need to wake up to safe our country before it’s to late
I'm pretty sure the Tories are aiming for zero seats across the entire UK.
No seats tory please turn the lights off and never darken our doors again
Think the Tories are only familiar with The Dorchester
Dorchester is Liberal.
Dorset? Is that in the Congo… sorry.. Rwanda??
Turn left at #Basingstoke?
😂😂😂😂. Can’t stop laughing
given 18% are in proverty and over 3 millions in destitution, that's nearly one fifth of voters that the tories already lost just for existing
I wonder, will the introduction of voter Id make any difference to the number of people voting?
@@breamoreboy It did before, maybe it'll be better this year, but given the annoyance of it, some may not bother, even if they have the necessary docs.
A lot of poor people vote Tory because they've become convinced Labour aren't for them.. they're for the "woke metropolitan elites" whoever they are. Labour are a bit too PC but it's ridiculous how people have been conned to vote against their own wellbeing. Hopefully if they won't vote Labour they'll go to Reform and help get this loathsome government out.
Immigrants?
@@rachel.mcgowan I don't vote, and I see no reason to change that stance. The country is in its death throes because of Brexit and that policy isn't going to be reversed. I'll not take part in a ridiculous pantomime.
I spot the market place of my home town! Nice to hear that every Tory councilor is in danger of being voted out. Hope it will be replicated at the national level, because for decades it was always a case of a vote for any other party being wasted.
No chance in the borough of Broxbourne where I have to abode.
I will vote for my local councillor North Dorsetwho happens to be a conservative and has done a good job,but when It comes to the General Election I will be voting REFORM UK 🇬🇧
This eedjit from Dorset certainly deserves losing his seat... I've never before heard any elected member exhorting people not to vote.
Independents should do well in my part of Dorset.
The Tiries don't deserve to win it 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
The electorate are sick of the Boris and Liz Truss's sleaze and lies
When the Tory representative said, "We've got a track record we could stand on". That got me LOL 😂😂😂
Let's go independents 👊
Mog got mobbed, and moved by his security team. I just watched the footage. He was smiling, things are getting out of hand. We need a General Election nevermind local.
Lib Dem’s get my vote. Anything to get these criminals out.
I mean, a reasonably compelling argument can be made that the Lib Dems put them in, so why vote for them to get them out? Yea, no. They're just as status quo as The Labour & Unionist Party.
Why are all council seats not being contested ?
I think it’s fair to say the tories will lose a lot more than Dorset
Does the last interviewee not remember why there are so many independents in the HoC? _Hint: They lost their party whip_
The "Independent" MPs are largely MPs that been expelled from their party.
This is why PR is needed.
Thank you @c4
What a ridiculous comment by the Independent Cllr regarding the number of independent MP’s. Nothing to do with being elected as such. Every one of them suspended by their own parties & lost the whip.
Tactical voting is the order of the day vote for any candidate with the best chance of beating the Tory candidate the more Tory councillors we can kick out in the locals the better. Then we can replicate it in the general election and never again have the tories band of sick hateful corrupt and incompetent politics force on British citizens again.
The truth is Dorset was doing better under Labour, now lots of things feel really strained Dorset will benefit more from losing the Tories than almost anywhere else It's one of the best places and it deserves much better than the Tories have done for it
I wonder why the Journalist picked the Hovis bread street to walk up 3.20
It looks good on TV
What?
A part of the UK he's always wanted to visit and had the opportunity to go there and get paid for it 😂
narcissists never know how evil and hated they are.. it explains the tories delussion abd evil entitlement
I remember Teresa May resigning after disastrous local election results. But then we had Boris!!
The Tories will keep getting new leaders until they end up with Nadine Dories.
- Hacker: "Half of them [local councillors] are self-centered busy-bodies on an ego trip and the other half are in it for what they can get out of it" - Humphrey: "Perhaps they ought to be in the House of Commons..." ("Yes, Minister")
Well they've lost the plot so why not?
Not are they going to lose Dorset, they're going to lose their shirts!
Hottest year on record? It’s nearly May and it’s still freezing cold in the northwest

Vote Lib Dem and get Labour by the back door....more immigrants and green belt concreted over to house them.
Yes less Tories then. The Tory party will not exist soon .
Lib Dems are now in control of the council .
Here in bury Manchester, feels that Andy maybe in trouble. Hope not
Bournemouth is in Dorset, no council elections here. poor headline.
Different authority, Dorset council as opposed to Bournemouth Christchurch Poole.
Hampshire didn't want it, so for years Dorset bore the finacial brunt of having it. Guess which end of the county all the money ended up in? Not to mention the cost of having the Tory party conference at the BIC for years.
The tory guy said "we have cut no services". Dorset councils have historically been supported by the high no of summer visitors coming from the north. 😂...
Stay away from the area youre trying to represent is like a hospital saying to a surgeon stay st home and let this heart surgery do it self. Dorset you deserve better.
It's astonishing people still think voting will make the country better.
Let's be having you Spence !!!😅
They could fix the local traffic for a start.
Why aren’t the main news channels covering the local elections at all on the election evening!!! Crazy!! I wonder why?
I want to know why they don't sell Jam doughnuts in the Greggs in pool, needs to be sorted
If Tactical Voting (to remove Tories) is seriously engaged, then EVERY Tory Seat is up for grabs. Not one is safe. As it is unlikely (IMO) that Tactical Voting will be engaged in all Constituencies, then the Tories will experience a less catastrophic outcome. Less catastrophic as in humiliating defeat...
Bournemouth in Dorset voted last year ?
God forbid anywhere elects Green councillors. Just look at Brighton
A successful and vibrant place, yes
Thanks for posting
Isn’t it Dorset where Jeremy hunt has some of his property portfolio?
Even renting nevermind owning a home is unaffordable for most young people in Dorset these days as it is most of the country. A good amount people I use to at least somewhat know, have moved out of the area altogether for more opportunities and likely a cheaper way of life and I can understand that as sad as it is to see. The guy saying they haven't cut any services is rediculous. One of my local bus services went from one bus every 1-2 hours about 10-12 years ago to about 2 per day which for a mostly elderly community around here who can't drive and have no other way of getting to work, school, the hospital, dentist etc is absurd. So I don't believe a word of it. I go around town and see potholes everywhere, businesses unable to either get started or maintain their business because the rates and costs are too high, shops left empty for a year or two in some cases. I love the place but damn, it's just a shell of what it was and could be.
Health, housing and sewage crisis due to mass immigration and overpopulation.
@PollieBrooon-cz5yg no bad nationalisation and investment..too many water supply companies who are not needed competition is in suplly to retail..the cleaning of dirty water should be publically owmes like network rail. @@CC-hx5fz the one 0:57 different to the one at 1:52 the one at 1:52 is a buzzard for sure by the small tail and hawk like looks, The first one at 0:57 has long tail what's more found with a baby white-tail eagle (if it is a buzzard it's not the common hawk buzzard but its larger brother).
