The fact that this was performed on an actual overlook, during an actual sunset, entirely in one-take. Damien Chazelle really deserved Best Director that year.
I read fun facts about this and get immense anxiety over a job I'm not even in. I'd have gotten fired by dropping the camera or some crap
Love both! Talent not wasted!❤.,Karita.
It actually took 4 takes but still very impressive!
Thoughttt I hit the nerve. La,La,Land-well exctd. Overall lightly fun same time clever, enjoyable. Thank YOU all,Love, Karita.
Так это действительно снято без единой склейки и всего за 4 дубля?
When you find out his car was at the very bottom, that hit different
I sobbed, like literally what a gentleman
FOR REAAAAAL
I know that made me cry so bad
Ik like where are these guys irllll😭
How did you know
This is absolutely the best movie to watch with your situationship and say "us" every 2 seconds
* thank you to the person that liked this comment I actually did that yesterday on my birthday, had a great time Can recommend 10/10

They have such a natural chemistry - and an easy, natural way of acting, and singing, and dancing together - that it puts you at ease and makes it so enjoyable to watch!
I like how she sings "maybe this appeals to someone not in heels" and then almost immediately changes her shoes to those without heels
I love this scene. I wish my life was a musical. I love singing and dancing and I don't really get the chance to do it in my life. I thought of going into entertainment years ago but I was concerned about the bad things I'd heard about the industry.
Go do karaoke, the public kind not the private one in a secluded room. It’s like being in a musical without the performance pressure of being in an actual musical. If the right song is up then ppl dance even if the singer isn’t the best and i just makes things better for everyone involved. Feels magical!
There's probably a community theater in your town that would love to have you!
I would pay to watch you do stuff like this.... 🙂
Omg same
just do it
I just realized the entire 5+ minutes was a single, continuous shot.
The fact that he was parked out the front of the house the whole time just made me smile. In real life, you spend as much time with the people you love, because those little moments like the phone-to-the-chin joke end up being the big moments.
This is just one of those scenes that makes you feel like it’s a miracle that the course of human history produced such a perfect scene.
This may be the best choreography I've seen in any modern movie. It may honestly be my favorite, but Singin' In The Rain is a good contender.
I think the best modern-day choreographed scene is Benny Goodman's" Sing, Sing, Sing" from 1993's "SWING KIDS!" WOW! Thank goodness we have all the great dancers on film throughout cinematic history to be able to watch, too.🎈🎶🎷💃🕺🎹🎶🎈 Even James Cagney was a force to be reckoned with! Here I thought he played excellent gangsters but man alive, could he cut the rug! HOLY COW!🕺🎵I loved this movie.💓
you sound fucking crazy
This scene will no doubt go down as a classic in film history.
I doubt that.
@@mlh4711 It is a musical. Not too many of them around these days.
@@mlh4711the film won 6 Oscar’s and is recognised as one the best films in modern cinema. How will it not go down as a classic
@@mlh4711 5 or 10 years later, people see this scene and it's not only classic but also iconic.
@@OllieDunn06 normally, I wouldn't say that what got an award and what people consider to be a classic necessarily have to go together, but rest assured, @mlh4711 has no idea what they are talking about, this movie is an instant classic and it went straight to everybody's hearts
Ryan and Emma are seriously AMAZING
I’m so glad you enjoyed my performance.

He parked across the street from the party, but walked her allllllllll the way to her car. What a sweetheart.
Greatest song actually sung by the actors performing
It isn't Leslie Caron and Gene Kelly, but it's close enough.
The sun is nearly gone The lights are turning on A silver shine that stretches to the sea We've stumbled on a view That's tailor-made for two What a shame those two are you and me Some other girl and guy Would love this swirling sky But there's only you and I And we've got no shot This could never be You're not the type for me (really?) And there's not a spark in sight What a waste of a lovely night You say there's nothing here? Well, let's make something clear I think I'll be the one to make that call (but you'll call?) And though you looked so cute In your polyester suit (it's wool) You're right, I'd never fall for you at all And maybe this appeals To someone not in heels Or to any girl who feels There's some chance for romance But, I'm frankly feeling nothing Is that so? Or it could be less than nothing Good to know, so you agree? That's right What a waste of a lovely night
4:00 THIS PART IS SO PRECIOUS 😭😭😭
I dont know how much i admire this scene🥰
One of the greatest scenes of all time; and done in one continuous shot!
What scene....what movie. That scene was all done in one take.
Yes! An actor and actress actually learning to sing and dance is really commendable! Seriously, this is one of the worst movies that I have ever seen! The only person who saw it and enjoyed it that I know is my 80 yo aunt! And we all love musicals!

They had chemistry😊🎉
you betcha
I remember watching this in my parents bedroom for the first time… my eyes were wide open and I was in love with it❤️
I don’t believe or think any other film had an impact so big, in the last 15 years. Love it to bits
What made this scene for me was their chemistry. I don’t think if it had been played by any other actors, even as talented, it would have hit the same. They are unique when together.
I Think if it had won the Oscar ( which it definitely should have ) it would have been regarded as one of the best musicals ever made , I think that will still Happen, But I’m old , and maybe this world has lost its beauty…such a shame.
I watched this film in the theatre with my family. This was truly the first film that made me see cinema in a new light. God damn, I love this film, and I love this scene.
This scene is pure magic. A 5 minutes masterpiece for ages to come.
We need more movies like this with singing and dancing, like the old Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire movies.
The way he moves his hips and swing his hands is incredibly and beautifully masculine. Omg. Wow.
A great film in a sea of ordinaryness up there with the great musicals of the past
Do you like it!❤
Seeing this scene in theaters was life changing
At this point i´ve lost count of how many times i´ve seen this scene, i love the entire movie but this scene is just kind of special and im sure i´ll rewatch it a thousand more times
This movie is such a gem💎 Can't believe I only just watched it. Never paid attention but if I'd known it was jazz music theme, I would've seen it on the big screen ❤️
This scene alone should’ve got La La Land the Oscar for best film, absolute classic!
This is one of my most fav movie of all time
I still can't get over they did not end up together.
Well thats reality for u ig.
See now when I rewatch it I like to stop where we see how their life would look like if they DID end up together and pretend like the rest of the movie don’t matter..
La La Land is literally a movie I want to live a life in, at lease where I get to break out into song and all of the music has a Golden Age cinema quality to it :o
I will never get over the perfection this movie holds. Easily one of the best movies ever made . ❤
can’t find a single thing not to LOVE about this scene…
I absolutely love the yellow dress from this scene. I wish I could find one like it
Right? Me too! And I read somewhere that this is not the intended outfit for Mia in this scene, but Emma Stone loves it so much and just wouldn't let it go.
Emma Stone is the best actress in the world right now
This film is just the best xxx❤
FROM '' i'm just ken" singing to this

Wonderful movie, beautiful couple, lovely girl, it is enchanting.
Ryan should have won an Oscar by now. Very Unfair
This is so beautiful! watched a dozen times now.
Ahhh... looks like an old Hollywood dance sequence. Lovely!
Probably my favorite scene from the movie. LA looks gorgeous throughout the film, but especially so in this scene. It helps that I am deeply infatuated with Emma Stone.
One of my favorite movie watch 3 times :) One of the best scene ever ❤❤❤❤
My daughter made me watch this movie with her, she fell asleep and I kept watching, SO GOOD! I've watched it a few more times alone since then :)

La la land è un film memorabile in tutti gli aspetti, ma soprattutto ci fa ritornare al tempo dei grandi musical del passato, grazie Damien Chazelle❤❤❤
They are both so talented and adorable

In melody, they got same rhythm😄, and this guy did not forget her blue shoes👍
Can't wait to have kids and show them this movie and more particularly this scene. Instant classic!! I can't express how much joy the whole movie brings to me
Amo esta escena
Sooo talented!! ❤
That looks like the street going up to Griffith Observatory. Almost no parking so you have to park along the street. At least the views are nice; you can see the Hollywood sign from the top. I should see the movie. If it's shot around L.A. that's extra fun.
This has a special place, in my heart
One of my favourite scenes from any movie
This scene is breathtaking
Потрясающая актриса.
I love love love the choreographed changing into dance shoes, kinda pokes fun at the old Fred Astaire is always wearing tap shoes trope
i like this song alot
I love this song and I love La La Land😊
I'm charmed by the camerawork in this scene, and knowing that this was a legit one-take done on location makes everything hit so deep On a sidenote, it really warms my heart watching the small errors in the choreogrephy, it gives spontaneity to everything (I mean, they are not perfectly synchronized everytime, there are small errors here and there like 4:25 Ryan comes slightly after Emma with the hands, which is absolutely normal given the nature of the sequence)
He makes me dance.
I fell in love with Emma Stone by watching this movie. Ah , so sad , to young for me and so far out of my league. But boy did I want to see these two end up with one another and live happily ever after. But I am glad they did not because in the end we all have that one that got away. We could relate.
I like the fact she dances with our lonely Canadian boi. According to women, he looks like shit.
I have been on that spot, I was visiting LA many years ago and was taken up there by the actor Michael Ensign.
Iconic.
this is perfect!
Clear homage to Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse's dance number, Dancing in the Dark, from the movie "The Band Wagon (1953)"
Great, fabulous 😍❤
Me encanta este actor
Man this tough Ryan and Emma had instant chemistry and fluid acting Both sang and danced in La La Land Ryan and Margo had instant chemistry and fluid acting And sang and danced Can’t decide which is better
