    • Also, only add a third of the egg whites to the batter and fold in, slow and gentle. Then add the rest, still folding in slow and gently. The idea is to not lose too much air from the egg whites. Some of the 'lift' of the waffle comes from the egg whites. 🤎

  • I’ve never made waffles with whipped egg whites, but when I do fold egg whites into a mixture I find it easier to combine up to 1/3 of the egg whites in first (possibly a bit more vigorously). It makes it much easier to fold the remaining egg whites in gently which means more of the air that’s been whipped in stays incorporated.

    @k8giggles@k8giggles Жыл бұрын
  • Great video! To answer your query, don't cook the waffles quite as long unless you like them that crunchy. Get some strawberry glaze in a squirt bottle and you can put it in the middle of the waffles, just add another thin layer on top of it once you're done putting on the glaze. Nice work! Turn your heat down JUST A BIT on the waffles and they'll come out fluffy and yummy each time. Just know, the more you use that pan, the better and better the waffles come out. I'm coming to your house for breakfast! XD

    • Whipping the egg whites produces a batter that is less dense, creating waffles that are airy. Unfortunately, he may have cooked them when the temp was too high or for too long so they overcooked. This might not even be a waffle iron, after all! Perhaps it is a pizzelle maker which makes a thinner, crispier Italian waffle cookie.

  • Another outstanding video! Where did you acquire this waffle iron and do you know it’s history? Did you add it to your cast iron collection or did you eventually re-home it? Thanks again! :-)

  • Maple extract goes woooonderfully in waffles. I put in 3/4tsp in a normal batch recipe and it goes quite nicely. Also goes well with vanilla and chocolate cakes.
