40 strangers around the world on full screen is nothing compared to 4 friends on split screen together
esp when you cheat and look on their screen to figure out where they were 😂
True skill is being able to take on 3 bros when they all know where you at all at once. Also the split screen cheat skill was a thing for every single fps game ever lol. @@Eternaldarkness3166
That’s what I’m talking about. A couple of pizzas, shit, talking, and no clocks
You’re goddamn right.
Yeah we usually played deathmatch on the license to kill setting. Most of the time I would annoy the hell out of my buddies using Oddjob permanently moving in crouch mode so they always had to look down to see me and only using melee attacks. Good times.
From Wikipedia: “Most of the development team, which was composed of 11 people, was inexperienced and had never worked on a video game.” 🤯
Apparently there were delays on getting it published too, which caused them to continue refining the game for months after it was completed.
@@chubbycatfish4573 oooh I wonder which were the refinements!
@gir489 are these true facts? Sound like legends. It’s funny because the multiplayer, particularly four player, is by far the funnest and most replayable part of the game.
Sometimes, an inexperienced dev can provide insights that an experienced dev might not have thought of.
@@stefan33uk The part about multiplayer being added in last-second is true, yes. The part about "Nintendo canceled it and stopped paying", I've never heard anyone claim that before. Makes no sense either, why would Nintendo cancel it when it was so close to completion?
It's mind-blowing how a game created with such limited tools/limited staff knowledge during the late 90's feels more passionate and unique than some games releasing today. Hats off to the entire dev team on this revolutionary game.
Yep, and there were 11 developers....

Thank god for indie game developers today. Otherwise the greedy soulless scumbags (EA/Activision/Ubisoft/Blizzard) would’ve butchered the industry by now.

the game industry was right wing back then. That is the real difference between passionate, classic, blockbuster games vs today's leftist trash. Look at MW2 2009 vs CoD 2023. JUST LOOK AT IT.
I find it amazing how they were able to build a full soundtrack where basically ALL tracks are based on 007's theme, and they're still unique enough that it doesn't get annoying.
The music creativity on display is one of the great reasons GoldenEye 64 was so memorable to play.
They paid a LOT to actually be able to use the iconic theme from the music licensing company - and if I remember correctly (from an interview with Grant Kirkhope) he said they had to pay a royalty of $5 per cartridge. So you bet the music team was told to use it EVERYWHERE since they paid a pretty penny for it lol.
The composing was absolutely beautiful and gave me chills from the first Seen.
That’s a good point-this soundtrack is great, but most pieces have that same motif. Pretty interesting
fun fact: Grant Kirkhope (the composer) worked on Banjo Kazooie music, which is famous for being built around central musical lines that warp from game world to game world into different versions that are themed to the location.

The score for this game is superb. Every level has a track that you can identify it with. It's reminiscent of score from the movie while still maintaining the classic Bond cues. They don't make game soundtracks like this anymore.
💎💎💎
***** Video game scoring was an important thing back then. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were scored by the same guy and that point you stated rings true for both games. Such defining amazing tracks for each level. Legend of Zelda was another one, by the great Koji Kondo. That was absolutely award worthy stuff. Part of me understands the power of nostalgia but another part recognizes that there is something truly unique about the artistic direction of the video games from that time. N64 was and remains one of the greatest gaming consoles ever created. A true game changer (no pun intended).

betterthansex123 not to mention, Perfect Dark. I remember playing against simulants all the time because I didn't have an expansion pack, lol. The Movie is Amazing In It’s own right. It’s by far the best of the Pierce Brosnan Bond films. Sean Bean is a Great villain in it as well. When you're limited in the number of sound channels you can use (no longer an issue in modern games), composition is VITAL to make a tune sound good, memorable and not grating on the ears. Back in then day, Rare had an all-star stable of composers: David Wise, Robin Beanland, Evelyn Fisher, Graeme Norgate, Grant Kirkhope... all of whom had their own styles but had one thing in common: great composition skills.

A truly brilliant soundtrack. It so perfectly encapsulates a time in video games and pop culture, while also carving out a distinct sound that anyone who grew up playing games in the 90's would be able to identify immediately. The composers take classic themes from the Bond franchise and put their own unique spin on them, pushing the limitations that they were presented with from a software standpoint to create something that fits so perfectly into the 007 aesthetic.

It’s corny to say but it’s before its time. I actually came here to hear Satellite Control Bunker and ended up listening to Severnaya twice lol. This soundtrack only gets better with time and age.
17:17, that bass drop gives me instant chills 😮
It's phat
Countdown is an awesome song, when I did my first ever 00 Agent run on Aztec, I had zero health when this song came on and it was intense.
Caesar Seriona same. I was just crouched and shooting the laser, as the guards can come up the ladder
The only game about a movie to ever be more popular than the movie.
Born 98, got my brothers old n64 for my 8th birthday, goldeneye was my life
Listen to this in my car. Absolutely crazy sound design. Songs like missle train makes you feel you are in a movie. And control center breaks your bass box.
who else is high and going through an old school rampage?
Not high, but yes.
drunk high, and doped up on nicotine and yes
HOWD YOU KNOOOOO
@@Saddles_N_Sauvignon this person is clearly on ice
im high on life bruh
The slap bass and the overall agitation of the song (plus the very fast paced level) is what makes Silo my favorite. I would play this level over and over just to hear the music.
For me it was Frigate or Dam(for Music)
Severnaya installation is a masterpiece❤
yeah one of my fav :) I also love Satellite control bunker, Facility, Servenaya Complex, Temple, Pause menu, and main menu
The BEST!!!
probably one of the best video game sound tracks of all time!!!!!
Runway was a banger
A masterpiece of videogame !
Yeaah
damn, when i was a kid i remember my dad showing me his nintendo 64 he got as a present on a date with my (now divorced) mother, i was blown away by it, and loved this game, being a little kid in 2013-2014, goldeneye was the only game i played on it. that aztec and temple level will always haunt me, though.
Been a gamer for 20 years and this is my top 5 best games ever played. Legendary. All my friends played it growing up. Oddjob and golden gun was OP
I do my best getting around to playing this game every year. The N64 was the first console I ever bought. I still remember going into the game store after my 9th birthday with all the money I’d been given for the past 2 birthdays and Christmas’. It was 2004 (late I know but I grew up with an n64 from the time I could remember but my brother sold it for an original Xbox) I was so happy to get my beloved n64 back. Getting into the store I was saddened that the very n64 my brother had sold to them years before had been sold but there was a green one that looked awesome. 60 bucks and all I had was $80. Goldeneye was $10 and my other favorite n64 game Star Wars shadows of the empire was $7. None the less I was determined to get my n64 and games back. I told the owner my story of getting the game system of my childhood back and how excited I was to play the games again, I asked him if he could please hold the games for a few days to a week while I get the money for them and bless his heart he threw them in as well as jet force Gemini for just $80. I got home and played those games nonstop for weeks. Over time I’ve played it less and less frequently. But I’ll always get a big happy smile thinking about exploring the facility and shooting desks or chairs till they explode. I’ll always remember these songs as they have been as big apart of my childhood as any other inspiring story or game as I’ve become a musician. The last time I played my 64 I noticed it isn’t running so well. It struggled to boot up any of my games but I got goldeneye working a few times, and although my 64 may be dying, my love and memories for it and this game will remain forever. Thanks for uploading this!
I still hear the noise of the Assault Rifles bullets echoing by the Aztec Complex.... =)
I know everyone loves Facility, but after beating it a bunch - I loved running Silo and Frigate the most. I got to the point where I was speedrunning Frigate with paintball (DK mode sometimes for the laughs) on 00 Agent by the time I was 6 years old, machinegunning the hell out of everybody. Great times.
By far one of my favorite games that marked my childhood, listening to this brings so many memories
I want to play Facility Full blast in a car some day....
+TheRumChum just use Audacity to record it, then tell it to make it a .mp3 file and enjoy :D
+Mr. Person can I use Audacity to make a .Car file? i still need a car lmao.
TheRumChum depends on the car, Mine can read Data Discs and .mp3 files, so I can have all my folders sorted by artist and it holds around 158 or so .mp3 files. and its a 2006 car lol
+TheRumChum omg, the rum chum! You're a legendary pooper!
+Mr. Person I have the Runway downloaded to my phone. Play it now and then along with the Byelemore Dam.
