TLDR: gas management = charging handle for gas, bolt carrier group, h2 buffer
Great informational video for us dudes just now getting into the suppressor game.
Best explanation i've heard to date
Your rifle on the wall looks like it’s been infected with the cordyceps
Great video, thank you for the great info
thanks for the advice!
Thanks man, very helpful information
This is like a Pandora’s box when you can one. Great video thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Glad you liked it!
This was a super helpful video for me
Great video thanks
Good job!
I have found that nothing really helps besides a superlative arms adjustable gas block. That actually tunes and adjusts the gas used to cycle the gun then it vents off excess gas away from the shooter. Absolute best thing i have done. Totally changed how my gun shoots smoothing it out and lowering recoil.
How long have you had it for and has it been reliable?
Good stuff, thanks for sharing, not much on this out there!
Thank you for watching!
Do I need to change out for a heavier buffer spring?
If you haven't already got a radian sd, it's not much different than the basic radian charging handles
Great video I did not know about a BCG suppressed or unsuppressed feature. Where do your cases eject out to, between 3 and 4 o'clock? You AR-15 is suppressed only using an H2 buffer, with a barrel under 16 inches with a standard gas block. I would think the cases would be at 2 o'clock. I would think that rifle would need a H3 or H4 buffer weight to get the cases ejected between 3 and 4 o'clock so it is not over gassed. Over gassing over time breaks extractors and bolt heads. Usually a 16 inch AR-15 works great with a H1 or H2 buffer weight with no suppressor. Each build is different.
Thanks for watching! The BCG on suppressed mode helps prevent the system from being over gassed too much. It ejects at 2:30-3:00. This upper has 3k+ rounds through it with almost all of it being suppressed. We are just now getting close to needing gas rings replaced.
This is amazing, thank you. What do you mean if you need a can, give me a call? You sell cans?
Is it *required* to change out the BCG and CH to use ones that are more compatible with shooting suppressed? Or is that just recommended?
It’s just a recommendation but you’ll want to change something. I can’t even fire 1 shot out of my suppressed Aero upper without my eyes burning but it will function fine if you can deal with it.
will these steps help keep the gun cleaner as well? i just suppressed my CMMG Resolute 6mm arc and I pretty much have to clean the gun every 20 shots.
Not really, suppressed rifles are going to get dirty. Is your rifle malfunctioning after 20 rounds?
@@suppressedpredatortactics6276 no but after 20-30 shots it definitely starts to cycle harder
I clean my rifle once a year. No need to honestly. When I clean it, it's mostly for dirt and debris. Carbon isn't the enemy
5:08 to skip the rookie function explanation
what parts wear faster when shooting suppressed? gas rings? extractor? and have you tried the a5 buffer system? i have them on all of my rifles but my silencer is still in aft jail. its been almost 9 months :/
Yeah, gas rings and extractor will be parts you want to have on hand. With that being said, my bolt has seen 4k+ rounds without needing any parts replaced. The gas rings will likely need to be replaced within the next thousand rounds. I haven't tried the a5 buffer system, but I've heard good things. As far as waiting on the tax stamp... hang in there. It will be worth it, haha. Thank you for watching!
@@suppressedpredatortactics6276 thanks for the reply and the info. much appreciated!
I just tested the A5 system V’s a SprinCo RED spring suppressed. Recoil felt similar. So if u need a quick inexpensive fix, SprinCo is the best bet for only $20. That said…. I still love the Vltor system in general. I run it on my 9” 300Blk and my 14.5” 556. Prob just keep the RED SprinCo in my 11.5”.
@@scott2228 thats good to know. i have the a5 system on all of my builds, so i might try that one out on my 10.5.
@@metaldave556 to make sure we are in the same page, that SprinCo spring is just for regular systems. Not A5. It’s just a stiffer spring. I run the green SprinCo springs in the A5 system.

Not bad advice.. The bolt carrier you are using decreases gas to the internal piston which also decreases the gas expelling through the firing pin bore in the carrier..An adj gas block is even more effective as it decreases the gas going to the carrier in the first place..You also got right what the heavier buffers does (effects carrier velocity) not dwell time.. One side note, the use of a suppressor will decrease the rifle's life by 1/2..
People who worry about suppressors decreasing rifle life don’t actually train. And it’s not half.
Colt would disagree with you..They keep track of their law enforcement suppressed rifles.. @@suppressedpredatortactics6276
That’s kind of misleading. The entire rifle doesn’t wear out faster, it mainly just parts of the bolt which are cheap to replace and most people don’t shoot enough to notice anyways.
@@midwestbd7144During our Colt armorers class, the Colt instructor stated they get half the life from their suppressed rifles that law enforcement uses....
i bought the velos to solve some of the gas in face
The reduced back pressure designs are interesting. Hopefully they continue to improve to the point they are just as good at flash suppression.
Actually it is a suppressor not silencer, because you are suppressing some sound and flash.
They are officially named silencers under law.
@@suppressedpredatortactics6276 That’s correct.
The original 1921 Patent says "silencer for guns ".
Hiram Percy Maxim the inventor called it a silencer
@kylehill4437 Hiram maxim received the patent in 1909 , actually made the 1st silencer in 1902
Why anyone would register and get a tax stamp is insane to me. You’re the first ones they come for. I hope you would fight but we all know you won’t.
Go away, fed.
@@suppressedpredatortactics6276 thats his way of saying he's doesn't have any equipment , at all, that's worth a shit.
Ignorant.
The Feds would try to provoke a law abiding citizen into saying they’d direct gunfire towards the fed. Try harder 😂
Are you telling me the Feds have no idea you own guns because you don’t own a suppressor? 😂 If a mass confiscation ever happend they know who has done background checks, probably know what you have based on internet history and could even find out who has bought ammo. Its not a secret
