As an anthro artist, animal characters are far more interesting to me than human ones because anthros are more diverse in shape, color and size. They also have natural abilities that what would be considered superhuman. I grew up drawing animals all my life because that was most of the cartoons in the 90s. Everything from Tom and Jerry to Sonic the Hedgehog. I love nature and used to want to be a vet when I was little but I liked art more so I just merged them and draw lots of animals (but my vet side still bleeds out because I'm very invested in animal nutrition and behavior). I also think those costumes in the video are really well-made. I admire how that father told his daughter to make her own costume and it grew into a business. I freaking love cosplay because there is an element of acting involved. It's fun dressing up as a character that inspires me. Even with all of that I don't understand why I would have to call myself a furry. Why does it have to be an actual identity? I'm not hating on them, there're just some red flag areas I don't relate to. I can understand the need to stop the world and get off, dream, imagine, even enjoy being childlike (shark dinosaur lmao!) That's a big part of being sensitive and creative, but I'm not wrapped up in the queer/sexualized stuff or drug dependency (like one girl practically bragged about being a stoner). Substance abuse is often rooted in trying to numb pain or escape reality. I have fallen victim to escapism in the past, always trying to escape reality, project false personalities on myself. Sure it helped me cope for a good amount of years but over time, it actually worsened my mental health instead of dealing with my root issues. That help and revelation had to come from God. Now I can cultivate my craft without being so co-dependent on it, and now that my identity is in my Maker, it makes me appreciate his nature and animals even more. He inspires my fantasy-sci-fi stories because God's world is so beyond this one. I guess that's why I don't need to identify with some furry title because my identity is already in the One who designed me. I can trust him to define me because I'm practically his character and I know he loves me. Every time I align myself with him, I have never felt more comfortable in my skin. I'm not saying I have arrived, it is still an ongoing process but I'm in a much better place than I was even just 5 years ago. Jesus gets the glory for that. Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the matter. God bless and happy creating🌻

Like if you’re attracted to a sexy man body with a dog head… then you’re attracted to the head of a dog. Sure there’s a human-like body… buts it’s still the head of a whole ass dog. It’s just weird. Most people just find it kinda messed up to be sexually attracted to animals. Wether or not they’re anthropomorphic seems to be a big selling point for your community… when it doesn’t change almost anything for the average person. I don’t hate them- I just say it like it is. It’s weird to be sexually aroused by animal bits.

Never seen this KZheadr before but this was a nice video. I’ve seen furry hate online, cringed at furries I’ve seen personally, and heard that some of my friends are furries. There’s a bar in Seattle I went to that had furry-themed cider last year, and I finally decided I should try and learn more about the community. I’m happy this video was so positive, was so afraid of the host mocking or trolling the guests, and still think that’s kind of what the sloth costume was, but overall this was very enlightening. It was 120° in Arizona and I was wearing a costume that was all black and I had to wait in the line for 3 hours.
People hating on furries don’t understand that they are just cosplayers just with animals, most furries are good people, I’m not a furry, even though my channel character/icon is a celestial fox, but I just don’t identify as one, but most furries are fine.

My friend is constantly getting attacked online because she is a furry, and they are people who she never even met. It’s just rumors, and it’s sad how narrow-minded these people at my school are, considering they never even confirmed anything with us like a normal person. There are a lot a people who disinform others on TikTok, like that one girl who claims that she’s part cat, even though that not what a furry exactly is. She makes TikTok’s saying “they made me take off my collar at school” even though she doesn’t even have a fursuit. It just sad to see how many people are getting told what a furry is, and 80% of the time, it the wrong information. I just don’t understand why people can accept that furries are cosplayers, like animal based, rather than anime

Honestly, I’m a furry. I started with cosplay and just really love sewing elaborate costumes so I ended up making suits. You’re just playing a character, and it’s fun! I’m anxious af but in a suit I can get into character and actually act. I like to think of it as just the next stage of making cosplay lol
