I heard Rempe say in the post game that it was the first time his mom was in the crowd. How can you not feel good for this kid? I was at the game. Couldn't be happier with the way the Rangers played. If they keep up this play every game they're going to steamroll this postseason. LGR!

Kreider is still such a beast. I remember back when he was like 24 that video od him jumping out of a pool was going around. One of the best power forwards in the league

Out of all the eight opening round matchups, this one is going to be the least competitive and close. That 3-goal explosion from New York could set the tone. Rangers in 5.
Can say the same about the other New York series though. I doubt it takes Carolina more than 5 to finish the job.

I did not like the caps going in just because they are too old. This is an illusion. They are not close anymore. Keeping Trotz would have helped though. Can’t blow it up with Ovi. Though they are closer to the cup than the Pens.

It was shoulder to shoulder at least 4 feet from the boards. He just fell awkwardly. You're not even getting a call there in the regular season. Caps had 4PPs to 2 for the Rangers. I don't think the officating was the difference here. When you're down two goals in the 3rd and don't even get a shot on goal for over 10 minutes, it's not a good sign.

Last year the Rangers might have played down to Washington's level and lost this game especially after sleepwalking through the 1st stanza. This team however is built differently. Much more focused and the coaching staff this year is miles ahead of last year's (non) coaching staff. Boston, Florida and Carolina all look good too. Eastern Conference semis and finals this year will be lit.
I believe Lord Stanley will make the east coast his home this year.

There is no way the caps win this series. I mean on paper it is seemingly impossible, based on the game the rangers are relentless for a full 60 mins and i dont think the caps can handle that. It is a miracle they are in the playoffs in the first place. All that said im rooting for a miracle bc that is much more fun. If the rangers lose this series the president's trophy is abaolutely real. THis is the rangers' series to lose.

Missed call by refs prior to rangers 2nd goal was a game changer. Boarding from behind should always be called. NHL needs to get stricter on these calls. Same thing happened last week with missed call on Caps defensemen Jensen.

Biased and uninformed comment. This is the "salary cap parity/puck luck is critical era". There's just not much separating playoff teams most years. Just in recent years, the LA Kings, last team in, swept the PT winning Canucks in Round 1 on the way to a Cup. The CBJ, last team in, swept the runaway PT winning TBL. The Habs, with the 18th best record (in the playoffs only because they were in the weakest division), made the SC Final. Last year, the last team in (FLA) eliminated the record-setting PT winner on the the way to the Cup final. This year, you could argue that the Caps don't belong here, but other than them, there's not that much to separate the playoff teams. Maybe the Isles are also a cut below but they finished very strong and arguably outplayed the Canes in Game 1. I think it's fair to say that the EC is slightly stronger or deeper than the WC based on regular season goal differentials of the two conferences, but even there, it's because there are three terrible teams in the WC not because the top teams are weaker.
