Despite her constantly declining Haoko's advances, he consistently pursues Momoko. He still mates with Toto, but I'm concerned he will begin turning to his daughters, Komomo and Momoka. The zoo needs to have a plan of action to avoid the incest.
I've seen in the comments that the females are on birth control to prevent inbreeding.
They keep them on birth control. keep in mind these are animals , and in the while it is not uncommon for this to happen. although you and I find it wrong and gross and we are aware of the genetic problems of it , they do not have the same human feeling towards it... they are animals. Realistically , they should either bring in another female , or they are holding off in the anticipation Haoko will be moved in the next few years to a seniors silverback group. Guess it kinda depends whats going on with the Gorilla survival program with them.

There is a video with Momoka in Estrus and he does appear to mate with her, which is unfortunate (assuming it wouldn't happen in the wild; I feel we have relatively very little video footage even still).
This boy needs about 4 younger females hes clearly not satisfied and toto and momoko are too old and dont really want it from him
Normal behavior in the gorilla word If Haoko had 5 females, he would still have babies with all of them and try to mate with all of the females.

Faltou planejamento antes de pegar gorilas para formar famílias em cativeiro, Haoko é claro precisa de outra fêmea, Momoko está cansada, deve estar ainda em tratamento, Totó tem 45 anos, está idosa, ele precisa de uma a duas fêmeas, mas seria absurdo tirar Haoko para colocar em um grupo de solteiros, não faz sentido, ele sofreu quando Momoko estava internada, Komomo e Momoka ja deveriam estar com um companheiro, mas nenhum País quer mandar Gorilas para o Japão, Genki da familia Momotaro, até hoje ela não teve um tratamento que possibilitasse a cura, e só agrava, são muitos erros que acabam torturando os gorilas, e o objetivo era ajudar a tirar os Gorilas da lista de animais em extinção, não tem qualidafe de vida, não tem planejamento, eu não consigo nem imaginar presa, em um cativeiro com pessoas olhando e gritando, é claustrofóbico, eles precisam de planejamento, estratégias, para tornar a vida em cativeiro menos dolorosa, a solução não é separar a família, isso seria um erro e falta de inteligência.
Com toda certeza , ele precisa de uma fêmea que tenha os mesmos gênes de Tayari e que goste de acasalar😂❤ ele merece

No se bien lo que sucedió , pero Monta es un perfecto solitario y además tiene casi 40 años.Conforme explicaram, Monta gosta de ficar sozinho. Momoko e Momotaro estavam juntos, mas o relacionamento não se concretizou. Não sei exatamente o que aconteceu, mas Monta é um perfeito solitário e tem quase 40 anos. 1

Agree but the Japanese have a lot of issues with the poor management of gorillas an adequate breeding programs fact is different zoos own the different gorillas an there is much bureaucracy. US won’t exchange gorillas with Japan for good reasons an fact is many of the gorillas are inter related
You need to understand that they are incredibly un-intelligent captive gorillas. Someone commented that this isn't un common to happen in the wild.. they couldn't be more wrong , people really should do their research.
Japan has done a horrible job with the management of the gorillas!! Hopefully some attention will make them so something!!
@@annemariemcnamara8756 The Netherlands owns a majority of these gorillas. They own Shabani. Tokyo May have obtained temporary ownership of other Japanese ones for the program. And sometimes a silverback will assert dominance over his daughter and not actually do the act itself. I'll keep my comment clean, but you know what I mean. I truly hope they aren't using artificial birth control because that would destroy their reproductive systems long term and the goal is to place them for study and reproduction one day.

I don't know. I just don't like this family dynamic. All the females want to avoid him, and his approach is not very nice. I know they are animals, but they all have personalities. In the D'jecco family, the females actually look for him, and they give cuddles to each other; D'jecco also cuddles them rather than looking to mate in such a persistent manner.

wow Haoki is huge and still in his prime. He needs YOUNGER FEMALES! and produce more babies, move Komomo and Momoka to other zoos. This isn't a quality setup anymore and getting overcrowded.

Haoko needs younger females to mate with this makes me angry. In the wild the female decides but in zoos females are paired with breeding programs that might not work. Look at Rola and Monta both living alone which is out of character for these social animals.

Captivity has ruined this male. His behavior is so far outside the norm of how a Silverback behaves, I’m surprised the International Conservationists have not intervened. This zoo has allowed him to degenerate into a sexually obsessed male who mounts his daughters and bites females who refuse. He has zero leadership skills and does not protect the weak or check aggressive behavior between troop members. There are videos where he threatens his OWN babies just a few days old unless Momoko mated. She was so scared for the baby.

Momoko thinks her son and daughters are her protectors. She's been ignoring Hoako for a long time. She definitely needs disciplined. In the wild, she probably would have left by now because she's lost her loyalty.

Everyone knows that Shabani is a great dad & a wonderful troop leader. Ai & Nene are are so lucky they didn't end up with Haoko or Momotaro. Shabani probably gets bored & frustrated because he doesn't have a real wife.
I hope they allow Shabani to have other offspring or introduce another mate. His genetics are strong and they shouldn't end with Kiyo and Annie.
If they were in the wild she would have abandoned him long ago for a more gentle Silverback as many females do. I hate that she's trapped with him.

From what the videos show us, Shabani is normal in that sense. What Shabani does not have are females who can serve him; one like Tayari would be ideal for him.

Yes she is.. She has had the most Children of any other Females in Japan .. Momotaro’s father died shortly after he was born.. Genki was with Momotaro’s Father too. But Once Momoko was put with Genki and the Silverback Genki became extremely stressed and Depressed and started chewing off her fingers ,so Zoo had to take Genki out and put at another zoo .. Momotaro was then conceived and Born.. When Momotaro was 11 years old he was Placed with Genki even though she was a lot older then him , They Hit it Off really well and then Gentaro was born.. Just a Brief description of past . Love watching ALL the videos of the different Zoos and Gorilla Troops.. and their History ❤❤ They Are the most amazing fascinating animals in my opinion as well as the Orangutan’s . They are Gentle Giants ❤❤❤. The Chimpanzee are so smart and cute but they are Know for being Dangerous and Violent more then any other Ape ..

Placed with Genki in Oct 2010 (10 years and 3 month) Momotaro was a silverback when he was 9 They capsulated in March 2011 when Momotaro was still 10 years 9 month and Genki give birth i(8 month later) in December 2011 when Momotaro was 11 years and 5 month It's 8 month pregnancy with gorillas
This so sad. Time for him to go a bachelor group where he can try and bully others. That would solve the issues for the girls too. I would be planning for it when the baby is around three. Everyone stays but he can go. The girls can fall in love and have babies with a new silverback and with the exception of babies Toto and Momoko could too. I really don't understand it, because Toto and Momoko allow him to mate even when they are not cycling. So does he want them to chase him? They are all scared of him and Momoko, Toto and the children doesn't deserve that bs. She was very scared. My opinion on Hakao has changed. It is so weird considering he shares the same Father and Mother as Shabani, and his older brother did not act this way. But someone mentioned his dad, Kibabu could and I had not been aware of that. No wonder Kijivu and Momoka hold their ears.
He just needs younger females, just like the rest of the silverbacks in Japan. They are all in the prime of their lives and they are all stuck with females that are too old to do anything. Except for dejeeco.
They'd have to remove Riki a d Sumomo if they brought in a new male. Both would be attacked by a new male.

Haoko is a Silverback gorilla. He is simply doing what a silverback gorilla does. He would die protecting his family, that gives him certain rights. Stop trying to impose human ideas on them.
What most women hear that are commenting things that are irrational and just out of emotion which it's not surprising that it's happening it's typical of bitter women who hate men but instead of reacting in the comments of a gorilla video it should look inward at their own lives and not project their feelings onto a gorilla video that they don't understand he is one of the largest gorillas in captivity. He might be the largest he's the largest in Japan so in the wild he would absolutely be one of the top Silverbacks if not the top in his area and he would have a huge troop of family with him lots of females he's obviously frustrated because in the Wilds he would be able to have sex a lot more often it's only natural for him to get a little frustrated and if you wanted to hurt or he really could plus if you actually bit her hard and not consciously knowing that he's going to choose to bite her softly because he actually knows that they're his family and he cares about them protecting them but he wants to know that he's not happy so he bites her a little bit not hard because he would break her bones and puncture the skin look at all the other videos of him playing with his kids he is one of the most gentle gorillas I've ever seen
You are right, I have read comments on other channels about different troops and I see that there are people who identify with females, I have read it!!! Incredible!!! As for Haoko, he is gentle until instincts get the better of him...they are go-ri-las!!! His brother Shabani, who is an exceptional gorilla due to his intelligence and his language (extroverted), is not having a very good time, he has two females that are a problem. He is also a true gentleman of his kind. When they are in captivity, they are very cared for and do not lack medical attention or food, but gorillas cannot choose partners. They are certainly very limited and it can alter their personality.
