Military Airplanes: Military aircraft that have made history, and that have driven technical innovation in aviation.
For several decades now, it has been aircraft above all that have decided the outcome of military conflicts. No wonder that unimaginable sums have been invested in their development. Engineers around the world assiduously improve the speed, range, versatility, and armament of military aircraft, thus decisively advancing innovation in aviation. Ultimate Vehicles showcases the best fighters, bombers, and transport aircraft.
It is the result of the largest armaments program of all time: the F-35 Lightning II. When developing it, engineers had to satisfy numerous demands at once: a stealth aircraft with high speed and excellent avionics. In addition, it had to have vertical and short takeoff capability. How well was this mammoth task executed?
It shocked the West and taught American bomber pilots during the Korean War the meaning of fear. The Mig-15 was the first Soviet fighter jet. Today there are only 12 airworthy Mig-15s left. We take off with one of them.
Three decades later, the successful aircraft manufacturer Mikoyan-Gurevich had another stroke of genius: the Mig-29. Its maneuverability is unparalleled, and today it is considered one of the best fighter jets in the world. “Ultimate Vehicles” presents the technical features responsible for this.
One day it will be the longest-serving military aircraft: the B-52 Stratofortress. It is planned to be used for about 90 years. What is behind this legendary airplane’s longevity? And how does a plane with a 56-meter wingspan take off and land?
The Airbus A400M is considered the most modern transport aircraft in the world. For a propeller aircraft of this weight, it can fly unusually fast and high - but also slow and low - thus making it incredibly versatile.

  • That Mig 15 is a jet engine with two seats and two wings strapped to it!! That thing is awesome!! It always surprises me how big fighter jets actually are. In the air they seam a lot smaller then when you see them on the ground with a person standing next them you see how big they actually are!! It's amazing the size and the performance with some of these aircrafts. Supper cool!!

    • notthing changed.

      @T.2.S.A.@T.2.S.A. Жыл бұрын
    • More likely the Messerschmitt 163, which was the rocket-powered interceptor fighter. This pre-dated the Me 262, also had swept wings, and was capable of far higher speeds, albeit for much reduced flight times since it could only carry enough fuel for less than 10 minutes of powered flight. For the rest of its flight time it was essentially a glider, at which it excelled since the design was itself based on a previous series of unpowered gliders.

      @lloydevans2900@lloydevans2900 Жыл бұрын
    • Actually the Germans were playing around with swept wings on gliders. There was also the p-1101 which had swing wing technology similar to the f-14, the Ta-183, the fw-287 had swept forward wings.

  • Is there a reason they couldn’t make the F35’s canopy a frameless one like the F22 and 16? The only reason I can 5hunk if is the frame has some sensors to track the helmet.

    @Evil.Totoro@Evil.Totoro3 жыл бұрын
    • Apparently this has to do with the ejection seat, the type that the F35 uses shoots the pilot through the canopy, using explosives to break the canopy into smaller parts first. The F16/F22 do not explode their canopy but eject it entirely before ejecting the pilot, this takes some time as the canopy must be released and allowed to fall away before the seat ejects. As the F35 can be a STOVL aircraft, situations that require an ejection would not really have spare time to wait for a canopy to fall away, when the pilot wants to eject he/she needs to eject now, not one second later, hence the tactic of detonating explosives within the canopy to break it into smaller pieces quickly.

  • I was running a Open type of Restaurant in a big housing estate back in 2,000. I had one particular customer, who was a major in the Malaysian army. But I am sure he is not a pilot. I guess he was also involved with purchasing of Russian fighter jets, Mig 29 and the Sukoi. His name is Gully, a Malacca born Eurasian. He was always talking about the fantastic Russian fighter jets. Then I was not so much into it and till now. Now, I understand why he was in awe of these fantastic flying machines.
