While true, he gets tough with his players, people like ibrahimovic said they would kill for the man! Now, his preferred 4 2 3 1 formation as well as his other tactics are slowly being a thing of the past, but what he accomplished with some rather supbar teams (winning the champions league with porto, back to back epl wins for chelsea, the treble with inter and ofc la liga with real madrid) have been storybook perfect

  • Mourinho was the man which started to put some sand into the gears of Barcelona, and on the end paved the way for Real's dominance um the later part of the decade. After Fergie, Mourinho was the most successful manager at Utd, with titles to back him up. He's slowly but surely seeing a resurgence at Roma. I believe se haven't seen the last Mourinho yet. As for Pep, his battle now is with Klopp. But I would always pick José over Pep. Reason: he's a killer at finals. He just wins them. Pep has lost some finals he couldn't afford to lose. Chelsea both with Bayern and City are obvious reminders of it. If ir were Mourinho at those, he would never loose those two.

He's got a different plan for every game and is ready to change tactics and a moment's notice. Pep is probably the greatest football maestro of all time. Its a strong fanbase, money and a squad with interesting players. Newcastle is not a Champions League team. With Mourinho they would get some players and will be fighting for top3 easily. If Newcastle gets the Champions League access, for sure Mourinho will be interested. He loves Premier League because in England its "all weekends Champions League matchs" Will Mourinho stay at Roma? I don't think so. He needs Champions League. Roma has no budget. He is annoyed with Roma for not getting the players he needs. Will Mourinho target a millionaire club so he can try another Champions League final? YES for sure, but whom? I believe it will be between PSG or Newcastle. But with Zidane unemployed on the market, Guardiola at City and Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool almost done at their clubs, this Summer we will have nice surprises and an amazing swaps at Europe's finest clubs

He's a serial winner who has won every Trophies in Europe's club football. Mehnm ! This guy was clearly not a real professional footballer..He never set out to be a coach either, rather he came in unnoticed as a mere English translator for a Barcelona Coach, then he suddenly realised the opportunity before him and decided to take his chances. And as an English translator, The little he learnt from watching training session and main matches was enough for him to accept the appointment as a Coach of a division three Club in the Portuguese league..Suddenly,he bust into the football scene, take over and conquered, driven by self confidence, belief, courage, intelligence and passion for the job. And his chances paid off big time. What a journey. Jose Mourinho has earned my respect and admiration forever. He's truly the best Coach in the world.

Just because they have never seen a skipper-keeper or inverted fullbacks in the PL, it doesn't mean Cruyff or anyone else did it before. His influence in that Barca side is not as great as people think when you realize Luis Aragones had Spain playing tiki taka before Guardiola was the first team coach, and Del Bosque did the same. Imagine if he had Messi too in that Spanish team. That Bayern team was already dominating in Germany and Europe, because they always have top players. And at City, we have seen how vulnerable other clubs like liverpool are because they don't have a world class bench and losing key players mean your season is a failure. After his departure, Ancelotti and Zidane made slight changes like changing the midfield, attacking from wings, heavy duties for wingbacks and wingers etc. and they were successful after winning UCL. But it was Mourinho who constructed that team, he largely contributed to the success, maybe he didn't win for what he was brought for( UCL) but Ancelotti and Zidane could do because Mourinho made it easier to bring in the right balance to the team. • One of the argument against Mourinho is his anti football tactics. But what I think annoys the most elites of football is that Mourinho is an outsider. You can track every manager in Europe and every successful manager, they all at some point were players who played in some European league. Mourinho is the only one who had no professional football cv, he was just a translator who found a spot in management staff. He was not a player who played for lets say Barcelona, Manchester United or Ac Milan. Mourinho in essence proved Arrigo saachi's word "you don't have to be a horse to tame one." But if Mourinho was completely anti football he wouldn't have won these many titles. Pep on the other hand is a visionary, he needs to play a certain kind of football and he needs specific players who can play that sort of football. Although pep's football is highly entertaining, he can't manage players like lets say phil jones and win trophies, he can't enter into Manchester United dressing room and work with fellaini. He demands complete football. While Jose is more pragmatic. With pep's style you are not guaranteed to win every match but you will win most of them. Sir Alex is not a great manager because he won everything with utd. He is a great manager because what he did at Aberdeen same goes for jose and pep. Jose will have the respect of those who understand how difficult it is to manage a non elite club. We can't expect pep to abandon everything and go to Aberdeen and proto but he needs to challenge himself by going to lets say Ajax at the later stage of his career, ajax can produce youngesters who can play pep's style of football. Until then pep will always be deemed as someone who needs an elite club to win.

    • Well, ok we don't have the same budget the biggest clubs have, but don't think we just had a "good team". We really had great players, you don't need to have superstars, you need to have war dogs, guys ready to die on the pitch, to play hard, and most of all that know how to play well. We had Deco, the best 10 I've seen in our club, Vitor Baia, best goalkeeper of our history (he has been the player with most titles won for a long time), Paulo Ferreira who was named best back of the year or best defender I don't remember exactly, Benny McCarthy, who was still a great striker (he scored two goals, and above all a beautiful volley against Man United that helped us beat them 2-1 in the first leg of the 1/8 champions league finals in 2004), Ricardo Carvalho (he's also one of the best central backs I've seen in our national team history), great positionning, passing, even dribbling skills for a guy playing at that position, Alenitchev, a bit inconsistent at some times but he was always able to score a great goal or to get passed 3-4 players with his technique, one of the best russian players i've seen. And our captain, who was called the beast in Porto, Jorge Costa. Intimidating, great power, always leading the team in positionning when there was something wrong, who'd bark at his teammates when they were bad, anyone in the locker room would always listen to him. Carlos Alberto, he scored the first goal against Monaco in the finals (same year in 2004), he had great talent but he had so many things to learn but he thought he was a beast already, he forgot that you must walk before you can run as the English people say (correct me if i'm wrong, I have a lot to learn to improve my english :), I'd be grateful). It's sad about Carlos cause I think he could have become a beast if he had been patient but he kinda disappeared. Anyway, we had a great team, most of them were just unknown in the other countries as often, our league should be more observed cause there are great players there (not only in our Porto, Benfica and Sporting, even in the smaller clubs). Anyway, yeah we were underdogs compared to others but we had great players, Monaco always had a great team (remember they scored 8 goals against La Coruña who had a nice team (not one of their best, but they were really decent). Most of the teams we both played against underestimated our two clubs while they were really playing well and fighting against any team we'd face. It was Deschamps that was their coach, he did a great job there, Rothen was one of the best passers I saw at that time on the left wing. They had Prso, great croatian striker, Evra that would go to Man United some time later and he did great for some years there. Ludovic Giuly was one of the best wingers, one of the best players in french league, he went to Barcelona after that where he won a CL I think with Deco who came from our club, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, etc... Now, yeah it's never easy to win a champions league, and mostly with these clubs cause there are so many great teams every year, so yes, it was really emotional for us FC Porto fans. If some people like to learn about football, it can be nice to do some research about FC Porto and Monaco at that time. Have a nice day everyone.

People talk about pep not being able to get lesser teams to win title but forget that some great coaches cannot manage top tier talents . Pep is a top tier coach because you a particular type of brain to make the most talented play in a way that doesn’t compromise their true abilities. That’s why Mourinho would never stay long at the top but pep will always be relevant to future footballing schools because not only his style is beautiful on the eye but adaptable in many circumstances and keeps finding tuned adjustments on the opposition’s weakness . Pep is a true philosopher of football, with the likes of Johan cruyff and Rinus michels and Ottmar Hitzfield.
