  • I was there! Behind Velikaya’s family above the wall. I always wanted to see fencing at the Olympics and got to experience it through my job. An amazing experience I’ll never forget.

    • Kali Tolles these days 1000%. However back then they didn't call a whole lot in the middle... Watch the finals of the men's sabre team world championships from that same year, you'll be SHOCKED by what was simul back then

    • @Kali Tolles thats a good question. the answer is unless youre really sure that a simul was yours it is very risky to ask for video on a simultaneous action. because it is possible that the touch could be changed against you...

  • The fencing style in the SCA didn't have people leaving themselves at open nor did it encourage self sacrificing moves to get the point.

  • Француженку жёстко засудили в полуфинале (16:07) при счёте 14 : 13, и в бое за 3-е место (49:22) при счёте 10 : 10! Хотя в бое за 3-е место Харлан смотрелась увереннее.

    • не согласен, но оба момента сложные для любителя, может и не прав. в первом случае Софья продолжает движение вперед и не ищет клинок, рукой не пампит, а следовательно сохраняет приоритет. во втором начала не видно + кажется что она ищет клинок соперницы, но сложно сказать наверняка по тем отрезкам-повторам-углам что у нас есть.

    • Je pense qu'il y a eu de nombreux appels tout au long de Monet contre Velikaya, mais à la fin, les mauvais appels se sont égalisés. Je crois que c'était une victoire équitable. Je ne crois pas non plus que Monet aurait eu une chance contre Egorian malgré leur âge similaire. je ne parle pas très bien le français, donc désolé pour les fautes car j'ai utilisé la traduction

    • oui mais que peut-on attendre d'une arbitre Sénégalais qui ne connait même pas les règles, même Bauer sait qu'il a perdu, en escrime, il faut des arbitres européens ou américains, les autres n'ont pas le niveau.

    • ​@@ayah722 C'est l'attaque de gauche qui touche, Brunet pars légèrement avant et termine son action contrairement à Velikaya qui raccourcit son bras, le sabre est une arme de priorité Brunet avait la priorité on entend "action simultanée pas de touche" de la part de l'arbitre alors qu'il aurait du dire "attaque de gauche, touche point". Un arbitre européen correctement formé aurait pris la bonne décision. Là notre ami était totalement perdu, c'est une demie finale des jeux olympiques c'est très grave !!

    • @@ayah722 Le raciste ici c'est l'arbitre ne pas donner la touche à Brunet parce qu'elle est française et que la Russe devait absolument l'emporter çà c'est du racisme anti français, j'en ai discuté avec un arbitre expérimenté, il m'a dit qu'un arbitre un minimum compétent aurait donné la touche, ce n'est pas contre lui mais il n'a pas été correctement formé et je n'ai rien contre le Sénégal mais il faut admettre que c'est plus un pays de football que d'escrime...

    • these rushes are quite controlled. if you are on other level it becomes one-way traffic.

    • the point is not to simulate a real fight but to let off steam in a controlled yet violent manor. it is a therapeutic activity that is definitely a valid sport. it is not easy and requires just as much training and dedication as any other sport. you did not need to comment under this video at all and thus your comment is unnecessary and rude
