    • most of the time, when I m fishing in clear water I can see the fish chasing or following my bait/lure, without biting, like from 10 times similar reels, 9 times they see my lure, they are following it

  • There's a Pike around this size in the canal near me, and whenever I fish in a particular swim, it sits invisibly in the margin next to my keepnet, waiting in case I miss the net with a skimmer or Roach. It never tries to take any fish I'm landing, and never attacks the net full of fish next to it. But it's straight onto every dropper. Pike are way smarter than the average fish.

    • @@Unborn-Stillborn I'll miss my keepnet with a little Roach or a Skimmer, maybe three or times in an afternoon session. It's not unusual for Pike to associate keep-nets with food. I've seen them following the weigh in at matches, because they know all those fish are going back in the water. They get to pick off any dead or slow ones. They're smart.   • It's crazy what some pike (other fish as well) will do. I had one pike that I could coax out of a cattail stand and watch it follow my crankbait up to about 10 feet from the dock and it would stop and watch the bait and then swim back. I tried stopping the crankbait as soon as the fish started to follow but it would just stop along with crankbait. After a couple casts seeing the same thing over and over, I did a slow crank up to and just past the point where it would stop following before the dock and gave it a little tap that happened to present the crankbait broadside and WHAM! Smoked the piss out of that crankbait
