    • Cut Bait counts as live bait

      @coryandrews7306@coryandrews7306 Жыл бұрын
    • @@coryandrews7306 it actually depends on the regulations in your particular state on whether cut bait is actually considered live bait. For example in Iowa where I live cut-bait is actually classified as dead bait which is a completely different classification than what they have for live bait. People just need to do research on their own states particular regulations because not every state is the same.

  • Spitting BIG facts. Any new flathead fisherman would do well to watch this video a couple times. Several of my biggest have come on cut bait. I spend as much time trying to find a couple big suckers as I do flathead fishing sometimes. A fist sized sucker head is without a doubt, my number 1, as close as you are gonna get to guarantee, only problem with them is that as soon as they hit the bottom, any flathead within smelling distance is jumping in trying to eat it, half the time there is no chance lol. But the other half of the time, HOLD ON.

Anyways I thought I would share that with you and whoever scrolls past this lol and thanks for the tips I always like to hear from other knowledgeable fishermen my biggest Flathead which was about 30 lb was on a big cut chunk of bluegill cut off right behind the dorsal fin. keep it up man keep catching them fish and putting out great content I know me personally would never get tired of fishing it's one of them things you love and the deepest part of yourself when you hear that drag squeal or see that rod bend over gives you a special kind of feeling!

I’ve been in East Tennessee for 15 years and haven’t fished yet but that’s about to change as a result of finding your channel. I used to fish deep channels at night for sail cats and loved it. These flat heads look equally as fun to catch. Are they like always around (all year) or are there better times than others to fish for them. I really only ask because of something you said in this video about regretting not fishing for them now a couple months later or something like that. Thanks for your videos and keep fishing 👍

  • Nothing better than waking up at 6 AM and seeing your buddy fighting a flathead. Only thing better is when its on one of your poles. Definitely going to use some cut bait this year for the first time. I have always been a warmouth/goggle eye live bait guy. Its how I was taught. also planning on using frozen tilapia/mullet and live crawfish.

  • That is a big misconception across the board for sure. However I put out alot more live Bait rods in conjunction with cut bait. Ill do some more experimenting this year, we always had good luck with leopard frogs on channels. I'll have to try more for flatheads. Thanks for the tips man! Can't wait for the spring run!

      @4HAR2012@4HAR20126 ай бұрын
  • I have only fished for flathead in the fall when they school up. Mostly because the river I fish for flathead has a low density of them. That evens up the odds in my favor. I just drift through the deeper holes (15-16 feet) and vertical jig with a 3/8 oz 4x salmon jighead dressed with a 5" swimbait or curly tail grub, tipped with a small chub or sucker. The hits are incredible and leave no doubt. I do use M/H spinning equipment with 15# braid. Best so far is a 55# fish. There are no oily bait fish in the river so the flatties predate on small drum and white bass mostly.

  • Yea first. Sorry it took me a while but I was watching a film and needed to see the end! Couple of half decent slurpers and flat ones as well I was getting bored of the Blue movies!!!😃😃😃🤣🤣🤣. Great to see Ryan minus a beer unless he kept it hidden! Back on the channel it has been a minute or 4. The advise at the end was spot on and is right for all types of predators from slurpers to Ray's to Cod sea bass 20 mins and change baits has always been a good rule I have tried to stick by I find a side of fish works for me better than a slice through. I also use bait elastic to make sure the bait isn't stolen and gives the hooks a better chance of finding a good home

    @baggers-@baggers-2 жыл бұрын
    • I was happy to post a video of something different. Hopefully more flatheads and hanging with Ryan coming soon. Ad far as rubber holding baits, I'm lucky flatheads are greedy enough we don't have to worry about them stealing baits haha

  • And thanks for your content. Cut will catch flats but I still prefer live whenever possible. I doo shotgun baits to start with at most spotslive, cut, assorted sizing, distaances from the hill or channel. There is one instance where I only use cut for flats, during a heavy storm inflow from creeks, culverts, and pipes. Cats-including flats-go into that feeding frenzy and try anything that enters their spot from the inflow. Cut works wonders there beings they know it's shad, bullhead, carp, gill, when they test it. Different point. I lived a few years north of Ft Dodge where the east/west Des Moines came together. All the bait shops had spoiled carp which I've used since but have never found anywhere else-most have no idea what you're talking about. Those blues and channels seemed to come upriver for miles to find the source of that stink. Not rotted carp, spoiled. Hook em!

  • I cat fished the Red River in Manitoba while the leopard frogs were migrating into the river. That’s what we used for bait and slayed 15-20lb channels in 2’ of water. You could see their fins sticking out of the water like sharks as they cruised the shallow water looking for leopard frogs!
