Hasek was twice the goalie Eddie was and o was a diehard Eddie fan. Buffalo wouldn’t even have made the Playoffs that year without Hasek.

Yup, Hasek replaced Belfour in game 4 of the 1992 Finals Vs the Pittsburgh. Hasek didn’t do much better, he gave up 4 goals in 53 minutes. But he wasn’t the Dominator yet.

Belfour was the reason the went back to the Stanley Cup final in 2000. He carried them against the avalanche in the conference final.

Eddie the Eagle was ELITE. But Hasek was his own category. He played on consistently weak Buffalo teams, and they almost always made the playoffs, and even went on some deep runs. No other goalie in that era could have done that.

Oh man that was a great series and I don’t care what anyone says, Hull’s goal was good. So happy my Stars won. The Eagle will always have a special place in my heart, But Hasak was by far the better goalie, both in 1999 and all time between the 2. Very few were better than Hasak and Belfour wasn’t one of them.

Im a hardcore eddie fan. Even spent a paint job but hasek is better. It's not even close. Now if i had a great defensive team like the stars, as a coach, would i think eddie could be better playing on my team vs a team carried by hasek that didnt have a lot of talent?? I think i would. I didnt need miracles. Just steady eddie and that would be enough.

Buffalo ??? A pôwerhouse ? They had one good winger (Satan) and one good D (Zhitnik). And Hasek. The dude ran the team. The top 2 C were Peca and Holzinger lol. Dominik Hasek had a mind-boggling 1.87 GAA and .937 pct. And he still just went 30W-18L-14T. The guy was a BEAST.
