He sings this song and teaches it to others to give them hope and inspire them, but he’s already starting to lose it himself. Even after his death, this song would still be sung by others in various contexts, as it becomes a well-known ballad.

My god this one was amazing. It perfectly illustrates a small section of Wilburs arc that we often ignore, that being the gap between the election and festival. When he was working with Tubbo to take it down from the inside. When he snuck back into the country to see if niki was OK. You can clearly tell Wilbur has his doubts (the “whatever it takes” line hit hard because at that point he’s starting to consider the last resort) but in this moment he’s still being the charismatic leader optimistic towards victory!

i was thrown off by it at first, but i really like how the song kind of cuts off a little abruptly. it really gives you “unfinished symphony” vibes. wilbur was already gone by the time he wrote the song or it was just abandoned mid-way through, no one left to even finish it for him. so the remaining l’manberg former-citizens don’t touch it, leaving it as it is but singing it to honor him

This is an amazing summation of who Wilbur is, in all of his eras. No matter what, he had always been an honest leader. Just as invested in the cause as his soldiers, pressing on and losing his own sanity and what he cares for in the crossfire. The bitter end is beyond painful, as Tommy was the only one truly loyal to Wilbur until the end. This longing, this camaraderie, this mentality of "it's okay as long as we have one another"-- crumbled and twisted into a terrifying paranoia.

@@7raccoons779 not really, Wilbur explained his motivation to start L’manburg from a twisted conclusion he got from years of isolation, his idea is that deep down in his psyche, he only cared about sticking it to the man, because he’s petty, he still was invested in the revolution. When he said he didn’t care about L’manburg, he meant the piece of land, not the revolution. He immediately explained not a minute later that if the revolution was in some desert land, it would have received the same love L’manburg did.

That D would normally be major in the key, so the minor one really adds interest. And it all turns on its head and does unexpectedly major chords for the Cmaj section, then goes back to minor with the Am (which is expected with C, but not with the Dmaj) and later the return to Gm. It's really very well written.

People always tend to point out that this is based on Minecraft, but I think it’s better when you look at this long history, then what it’s fans have done with it, then how it’s changed most of the fandom, the majority in major need of genuine help and therapy and ground to stand on while these creators craft this huge story to deliver just that, enough 4th wall breaking support to fulfill mental needs yet providing stories within the 4th wall that provides enough escapism for us to cry at a mad mans broken nation and there is always something so grounding there that always has us connected, just never quite understanding why
