The song is so good because it parallels to Why and shows the another perspective of Doomsday, of hurt and vengeance. The reason the Dream SMP story can be so effective is because of the ability to have different perspectives that are all, in their own way, right.

This song made me realize how fucking intimidating phil, dream, and techno together is. Like, they're just three people! And yet they had managed to throw a nation into ruin through sheer power. Imagine if dsmp was more realistic, and let's say L'manburg has more than 10 people in a country. Armies of people getting utterly devastated, TNT raining from sky, dozens of withers wrecking the city and turning it inside out, and at the top, three people watching the chaos unfold with no remorse written in their eyes. All because of the mistakes of their country's leaders against them (except dream he had no right to do that but that's fine cuz he looked good doing that). It's literally their doomsday.

To add to this idea, Crows are carrion/scavenger birds. Meaning that every soldier that fell in combat would be eaten by the swirling mass of crows following the Angel of Death
I mean- Phil is the master of survival, dream is a beast when it comes to pvp and cunning plans, Techno is in the top 3 of greatest pvpers and the man allways has bottomless pockets when it comes to resources.

I love the incorporation of a WW1 air raid siren and the sound of a clock ticking down until hell will rain from above in the background music, really makes you feel the direness of the situation for the L'manbergian troops below knowing that it was all going to be futile in the end but still dying for the nation they so desperately love, it's sickening
I love how the song is written with a perspective in mind; there isn’t an unbiased, factual view of Doomsday here, which gives it its emotion. This one is clearly in Techno’s POV, what with the mentions of betrayal and friendship. I’ve noticed perspective is a common theme in a lot of your Dream SMP songs, which I really like! 😊

I mean, Techno was almost killed at one point. It wasn't as one sided as it looked.
I love how Techno has an axe, the very thing the Butcher Army decided to use to fight him with. Dream has TNT showing how powerful and psycho he is. Philza just has a sword, being the most "normal" Although his wings make up for the "normal" weapon. Just my stupid analysis on the art.

“Betrayal breeds revenge” and isn’t that just true for so much of the smp. Schlatt betrayed Wilbur during the election, and Wilbur repayed him by planting tnt under his nation, which he eventually lit. It’s also key to note Wilbur’s spiral was partly fueled by Eret’s past betrayal. Techno felt betrayed by pogtopia on November 16th, which lead to him attacking L’manberg with withers. Techno’s ‘betrayal’ on the 16th was what pushed Quackity to form the butcher army to get revenge. Tommy betraying Techno only added to Techno’s want to destroy L’manberg, and Tommy’s betrayal was partly because of Tommy feeling betrayed by Techno multiple times. Betrayal is truly one of the main driving forces of the plot. Edit: Oh and Wilbur’s betrayal on the sixteenth lead to some of the events of Tubbo’s administration (also edit for a bit of clarification I forgot)

Trust and betrayal play such crucial roles in the lore- totally agree with the ones you listed, but would also like to add on with Tommy’s exile Tubbo is his best friend, someone he trusts above everyone else, and Tubbo putting the country over him was seen as a betrayal, even if Dream was the one pressuring the outcome. Additionally, Dream manipulating him to thinking he was a ‘friend’ was working off of how Tommy believed that everyone left him and he couldn’t trust anyone
You should add Wilbur making Phil kill him because he betrayed his country, which is why Phil wanted to destroy lmanburg.
Don’t forget that Tommy betrayed Techno because he felt like he was betraying his friends and L’manberg betraying Phil’s kindness and his rights, and betraying their promise to give Techno a fair trial, then fundy betrayed L’manberg by blowing up their supplies and niki betrayed them by burning down the l’mantree, and even Punz betraying Dream by leading everyone to his secret bunker

I really love that even though Tommy and Co had most of the smp on their side against literally just Techno, Dream, and they didn’t even know Phil was helping until like halfway through, they were still terrified of them working together. Like. They had every advantage: home field, they all died and respawned over and over and Techno and Dream and Phil would be defeated if they died once, they all had the time and most of them could have had the resources to fully outfit each other, and they still lost. Like I get the three of them had an actual plan and surprised them early, but Techno and Phil had like, 30 min to prep for this total (excluding the dogs) because Dream revealed his plan so late. I also love all of them being SO surprised when Phil defects with Techno. Like mate. This corruption led to the death of his son, his house was ransacked, he was put on house arrest and repeatedly shot for standing on his balcony, and you tried to execute his canonical best friend right in front of him. Like??? Bro????
Dream and Technoblade were just regarded (I think rightly given their canon feats) as being so far beyond the rest of the server in terms of power and skill that fighting them head on was ordinarily inconceivable. L'manburg didn't think they could take Dream pre-exile without recruiting Technoblade, Tubbo later felt like Dream was needed for protection FROM Technoblade, Technoblade proved he was OP by soloing the Butcher army with much less prep than what he had here. Dream and Techno were both also known to be ridiculously "grindy" and prone to having crazy elaborate arsenals (Techno with the withers Tommy knew he had and Dream with the TNT they knew he'd previously had enough of to blow up the country twice). Tommy wanted to use Techno against Dream and for a while L'manburg were hoping Dream would protect them from Techno (his pledge to side with them in wars etc). They were both so skilled and terrifying they balanced eachother out. So when they teamed up... every immediately panicked. Only Techno beat Dream head on 1v1 and vice verse. That was the thinking. So who could beat the two together? Maybe the whole server collectively? That was what they immediately started saying they'd need.

It was pretty funny that he just crawled out of the pits of hell while Wilbur and Tommy needed satanic rituals
Not to mention he got out of HELL by HIMSELF and with 3 FULL CANON LIVES back. While Tommy and Wilbur needed to be revived by someone to get out of their personal limbos, and we don't even know how many canon life they currently have

I love how the lyrics mention each antagonist in their own way: Phil is referenced as the angel of death, and with his crows. Techno was a warrior, hidden within ally lines, who was turned on by a friend (being tommy) Dream's the interesting one. All the lyrics that don't reference Phil and Techno, seem to reference his idea of a "perfect image under my rule". Judgement day being the one heavily focused with this.
I don’t see Techno or Phil as antagonists but some others may disagree.

I get this is a joke, but she has a life outside of doing animatics and she just finished school. She said she has time to work on it now but being patient is optimal whether she does or not.
Honestly I’d be so f’ing excited for a Doomsday Sad-ist animation because it’s one of my favorite events. BUT I also hope she takes her time and does what she wants in her own life without the pressures of doing more content.

This is how I interpreted them: An anthem of death sings out a cry Likely when me and the other chat members of Techno’s chat were screaming blood for the blood god in front of the screen, A whispering voice invading your mind I like to think it’s Ranboo, as the “voice” is a singular, which can show that Dream is manipulating him to be a traitor. You’re stuck in the web, caught in the lie The web is likely a reference to the massive obsidian grid/web that was atop L’Manburg. Caught in the lie likely is a ref to the entirety of L’Manburg, which was kind-of a huge lie that Wilbur set up to unite his friends. Edit: also Techno doesn’t get controlled by us. He just listens to our suggestions, maybe follows a couple, and grab our cash from our superchats.
@@PhantomGato-v- 100% agree on the first two things but I think Wilbur actually hat (mostly) good things in mind before he went insane. L'Manburg wasnt build upon lies (at least not the first one) but it ended up becoming one massive lie.

So after he blew it up, there was no longer 'a' L'Manburg, but rather two. The first was the true L'Manburg, which is the one Wilbur had built and blown up, and the other is the new L'Manburg, which was built on the ruins of the old one. The old L'Manburg was truthful, and as you have said, normal, yet the second one was completely different: it was called L'Manburg and also had the same flag, same uniform etc... But it is only one big imposter: it would never be the original L'Manburg, thus the lie. And also, the Doomsday War took place in the second one.

I just noticed a tiny but beautiful detail. The ticking in the background is the sound of the dispensers raining TNT down on L'Manburg. As someone who's seen the footage, I think the sound is the actual clip from the SMP footage. If this is what Derivakat did, it's one of the finest touches in a song I've ever heard

They promise to be a free and just country, all the while locking up anyone they want, executing people at the drop of a hat, exiling a dear friend for the hope of an alliance with somebody, then trying to execute that person a month later. They're caught in the lies of the founding fathers, requiring them to become more corrupt. I could go on. But Dream doesnt ever voice anything like that, it's definitely not for him, and it's not a lie that they're corrupt

Imagine if Philza's crows appeared during this. Dark, fire, explosions, death, everyone yelling, and then a murder comes flying above it all, screaming for the three warriors to kill, and Techno's wolves begin to howl, supporting them. If Dream SMP was a movie and they could add that detail, this would've been perfect.

@@rhennsacara Lol, it is meant more jokingly. The machines in Minecraft all sound like clock-work machines. The sound is probably actually a clock since all clock-work machines sound like clocks (the mechanical ones obviously).
I think it’s probably clockwork to emulate the anxiety and urgency during the actual event, but it being the dispensers is a funny thought (Yes I know it was just a joke)

So many of the lyrics are perfectly fitting for Techno, Dream, and Philza honestly all the songs bring me chills especially this one, once I'm done listening to this I'll definitely bring up some references and how it applies but it blows my mind about how well all points of view Derivakat can bring together and display so accurately without bias against the characters the song centers on/the songs pov is in And I think how so few lyrics obviously reference Dream directly may or may not be because of the fact that Dream doesn't give us his point of view References (I think) I caught 0:18 *A look of fear caught in the lightning* Could be referencing Tommy getting struck by lightning by Dream's trident and/or how it was storming during the latter half Doomsday? 1:16 *Walk through fire, and straight into hell* Referencing perhaps Jack Manifolds time in hell/loss of his last life? Tommy and Techno betrayal where Tommy turned his back on Techno who had been helping him in favor of fighting against him when Techno went through with what he always said he would against the government. Dream views George's and Sapnap including themselves in L'manberg and Mexican L'manberg as a betrayal too because they once fought against the land beside him and now they turned that around by refusing to be neutral on George's part and fighting for L'manberg on Sapnaps. This is such a perfect POV song for the Doomsday trio thank you Derivakat for this + Adding on some references I missed 0:34 *A whispering voice invading your mind* Since there's reference to Philzas chat as Crows... Why wouldn't their be about Techno and his very prominent voices as chat be referenced
This song, especially in comparison to Why, is showing the power and persuasiveness of each perspective. To the Doomsday Trio, they had been hurt by each member and wanted vengeance on the thing that had caused it all. To L'Manberg, they were just having the last thing they had left stripped by them, and seeing Techno/Phil work with their true enemy, Dream, making it to them another betrayal. This is why if you further examine the lyrics you will be able to see the direct comparisons and references to one another between the songs. (also the 'turn your back on a friend' line could be referencing how Dream manipulated Tommy into thinking that he was his only friend, and Tommy still turned on him, as well as a reference to Techno having Tommy side against him. Derivakat is incredibly good at creating lines with double or even triple meanings).

That's why I focused on more of a Doomsday trio perspective on this lol, and yes I definitely do see comparisons during the song to other songs of Derivakat which is always fun. I don't really feel the *turn your back on a friend* fits Tommy and Dream situation very well since well, I think it fits better for Techno and Tommy since their relationship was/somewhat genuine in it's creation and how it held out, but it could be true to what you are saying since as you also said, Derivakat is good at creating multiple meanings

I might have actually found a few references to Why in this song, here are the ones I saw: -In this song, we hear the line "Is this justice? This is justice." I believe that connects to the line "Do you still believe this is the justice you sought after?" in Why. -This one might be a bit of a stretch, but in this song we hear "Your judgement day is coming once and for all" and in Why, we hear "You act like a judge, enforcing your personal grudge" -This one might also be a stretch, but when this song says "Stuck in the web and caught in the lie', it could be referencing the lie that Phil told Ghostbur, which would obviously link with the line "So why? Why did you lie?" I doubt any of this was intentional, but these were just some thoughts that popped into my head when I heard this.
Also as Pelican mentioned above! “Is this your happy ending?” -Why “A twisted happy ever after” -Doomsday --- And actually I don't think the 'Judge and Lies' one is too much of a stretch. I also thought the judgement day one was referencing the Why song. And the Lies one definitely sounds like it could be =o

The "Your judgement day is coming once and for all" quote might actually relate to Voices, because there's a lyric in that song that says, "You see it coming, it's judgment day" which mirrors the line in Doomsday.
It was absolutely intentional to draw parallels between the two songs, as they are meant to show the different perspectives of Doomsday. A recurring theme of the Dream SMP is that everyone has their own perspective and reasoning for everything they do, and the parallels of how they interact. It is one of the more unique, and more powerful storytelling aspects of the Dream SMP.

After listening to this a bunch, I like that a lot of the lyrics are vague and have multiple meanings. And that they apply to multiple characters. It’s clear this is from the perspective of the trio towards both Tommy and Tubbo, the “last defenders”. While a lot of people point out turning your back on a friend could be Techno to Tommy, I’ve always seen it as Phils line. Man gets treated like garbage by his friends throughout the whole arc, and it’s one of the main reasons he helps destroy the nation. Techno is very much “you sought out your own end” to Tubbo and his “butcher army”, but it can also be Dream for the same. The army was created to take them both out and plans were enacted for each. The betrayal can apply to any of them, though it is easier to associate it with Dream since he seems to fit in the least, and this was his main motivation, the betrayal of their “peace treaty” if you can call it that. Both Tommy and Tubbo wronged the 3 of them, and so many lines apply to multiple things. But it always comes down to those 2 parties.
