Drill a slightly bigger hole, screw a tab in. Hang bucket on tab. Cloth over bucket. My grandparents used to do this on a birch on their yard here in Sweden. Damn thing delivered silly amounts of birch water. Helped that they lived next to a small river so the tree never lacked water.

If you add Flowers of same tree in its sap and keep it for at least 7-21 days for fermentation. Then it gets converted to its alcoholic version. its cheap drinks considered in india. But have healthy benifits when consumed in proper quantity.

- You are supposed to store dried flowers, if the plant do not have flowers in same season. It is applicable to all Sap trees. The flowers of each plant has some good bacterias/yeast which eventually ferments the sugars from sap.

Better use flat screwdriver or knife to make hole in birch, because using this method you don't damaging tree, you just separate the fiber, so tree feels better
