Don't feel bad. You don't suck, the game makers do.
Check out Destin's (Smarter Every Day) hummingbird video here: • How Hummingbirds Depen...
Summary: I built a machine to win an arcade game every time that was super accurate. In doing so I accidently discovered that this arcade game is totally rigged.

  • Same problem with claw games. Usually the claw slips off, making you think it was close. I believe the claw rarely grabs strong enough to pick up anything.

    @gkjester@gkjester Жыл бұрын
    • Yes claw games are totally rigged,you can set the tension on the claws but most arcade owners always set it too light so it can't grab and hold anything.

  • To be fair, an arcade is basically a casino for kids. They spend money playing games to try to win jackpots of winnings. And as Mark proves here in an arcade, just like a casino, the house always wins.

I used to know all the tricks to them as well, but can confirm ... 100% rigged.

  • I used to work in an arcade and had one of these things in it. Winning percentages are tracked weekly with the goal of paying out 25 percent in prizes of the revenue those games brought in. I had to track ticket payouts weekly and adjust. The older ones we had to adjust mechanically, but I loved these ones because it was just a matter of changing a setting on the logic board.

  • As a former arcade tech (albeit 20 years ago) I can confirm Cyclone can be set to payout jackpots at variable intervals and also people would stand there with a cup of tokens and just keep plunking them in. Cyclone was one of our top 3 ticket games for my entire 2 years at the arcade and I'm not surprised it still exists to this day. For the record, MOST of our non-skill based (ie not skeeball or basketball) redemption games from that time period had ways of being set to payout jackpots variably.

  • I worked at an arcade for 5 years. A lot of the games are rigged. It obviously depends on the game, but many of them have options where you can set the payout rate. Games like Cyclone, Stacker, Keymaster, etc. Stacker and Keymaster, where you put in a very expensive prize to draw people in (Xbox, PS4, Beats, etc.), we would set a 1/1000 payout rate. So we'd always be guaranteed to make money on it. My boss even told one of my coworkers before we opened for the day, to play Stacker until he wins. He literally played the game for 1.5 hours straight, won the game, so it reset the payout, so we wouldn't have to give out a prize for another month or whatever. Arcades are scams, simple as that. I honestly thought it was just common knowledge though, I'm surprised everybody doesn't know this.

    @sabersworn@sabersworn6 жыл бұрын
    • Firelord Azula I worked in arcades and routes for more than 20 years. You manager didn't know the game very well. The play count can be reset in a menu in less than 30 seconds. He was also a fool because players notice that nothing ever gets won and they stop playing it. Games that people see a win on get played more. It's a case of giving up some money to make a lot more.

      @docgiggles130@docgiggles1306 жыл бұрын
    • Rob Yagenmyer I'm not surprised you won. It must have been an operator that understood what it takes to keep people coming back to play it again (Or one that knows they may have to show the local police the game history and prove it's not being reset all the time)

      @docgiggles130@docgiggles1306 жыл бұрын
    • Vending tech here, can confirm this. The high traffic places get the shaft on jackpot payout. Your best bet is the low traffic places where the game is less played but the odds are better in your favor. Word spreads quickly when a game has dished out a jackpot in say, a bowling alley.

Games of chance, such as this, are very much rigged in favor of the owners of them at these fairs If you have a conscience , meaning sleep at night, you most likely will not do well as a carny. If you want to enjoy yourself, meaning not lose , then play a game called *I Got It* It's a game where someone will win each time. It's located on the midways, and generally under a tent with seats. Grab a beer and a sandwich , or whatever, and just sit back and enjoy. They let me go from my job as a carny , for I gave away a couple of the big prizes that are rigged . The big ones are rarely won. I was basically stealing money from 13 year old kids. It bothered me. So I gave a couple away. F**k Um

    • From what people have said, winning at casinos can get you kicked. They allow you to get normal amounts of money, but winning too much is bad to them because they want to keep all of their money. At least that's what I've heard.
