  • For a guy who’s heart wasn’t all in, and who’s head wasn’t all there, experiencing new places people and terrain, working with a team in which half the members didn’t even speak the same language as him, on a bike that wasn’t fully developed yet… I’d say he did really well to go out and win his second ever GP and remain competitive until his accident. Can’t blame him for walking away, I just wish MXGP could’ve experienced the full passionate Ryan Villopoto experience that we had here in the states

    • I’m with you. If he could’ve just taken some time off before committing to the full series I think he would’ve lasted the whole season and been up there with the top guys.

  • Villopoto and Tomac are some of the finest to watch Ride the Kawasaki. They do amazing things. I've seen both of them going to the corner with the gas wide open throwing a roost all the way from one end of the corner to the other steering with the back tire. Aso Villopoto doing some of his amazing moves where he lands on the back tire on the gas and wheelies out of the landing. Can you find some of those edits and make a video from that?

    • @@gmac9841 Yeah. Didn’t he beat all of their boys (MXGP as well) on a MX2 there? But to say an American isn’t fast enough, what a joke of a comment. The Americans were fast enough to win more MXON than any other nation, including a virtually untouchable win streak of 13 and a virtually untouchable “perfect” result [1986] ft. Johnny O’Mara, another American beating everyone of their “too fast boys” on the littler bike [125]. Vilipoto would’ve gotten better. He already got a race win, so he knows he’s “fast” enough. But it is a moot point since we all know he didn’t continue after that crash.

  • This cloud had been become the most exciting season ever cause of 2 points, first: I am a huge fan on max nagl, he's my favorite, and he never had a season likes this ever!!! I went to the races at Teutschenthal, on Sunday, waiting for my favorite, to hear sadly that he crashed out on Saturday in the quali, worst day ever for me, I didn't payed attention to the races anymore... After that nagl was out and the championship as well, I am still angry, he was unbeatable this season, red plate and winning the most gp's... Anyways, second point , cause Ryan villo started at the mxgp!!!! What an honor to have the unbeaten ama champion over here at the mxgp races, awesome!! But sadly he crashed out as well and he couldn't show his speed at all... To sad he didn't tried it again one season later...

Plus other good riders that haven’t been champs like Anstie and Hunter Lawrence. Jet didn’t race MX2. Our 450 Champ Osbourne raced MX2 for quite a while. There are always fast riders on both circuits. I actually wished they would share like 3 races a year where AMA and FIM raced with results counting towards both. Like when Tomac raced twice on MXGP in 2016 and finished with 100 points, or when Herlings raced AMA Ironman in 2018 and finished with a double win, 50 pts. Something like AMA’s 250 East/West Shootouts.

  • Probably the best technical racer I have ever seen, and I am in my fifties now. The fact is there is not the money that comes with Sx or Mx to put it all out on the line for a amateur set up track that ask you to go as fast as you can! Sorry if you don't agree with me but there isn't a turn corner with a 90 ft triple going into a whoop section and a turn into a dragons back into a pair of doubles. The fact is, very few from the other side of the pond are even close to technical riders. Fast as anything till you put them on a technical track. One to two every few years break in and have success?

He goes overseas and the Euros took it to him. He had down and dirty, back and forth battles with many of them and RV found out the hard way that MX1 is some serious business !! He couldn't manhandle the Euros like he did his fellow American competitors. It's not easy, the World GP's, completely different game - Had RV stuck it out I think he could have finished top 5 in 2015 and progressively gotten better and likely would have won a title in a few years or so.
