Competitions started to remind me of being an F1 fan in 2017 when Lewis was winning everything to the point that there didn't seem to be any point in actually watching the races.

And on the Atlas Stones Tom is the best in the world, let's be honest. So realistically, Mitch would want to go into the Atlas Stones with a lead of 2 points or more, which I think will be hard because he's 3 points behind after the first day and Tom is in really good shape.

      @jtf2dan@jtf2dan13 күн бұрын
    • @@jtf2danofcourse but knowing when to stop is a huge advantage though, tom is a tremendously strong man after all hes won twice and could potentially be up for a 3rd. He can do the conans well enough. But the advantage of knowing how long you need to last allows you to go all in enough just to win and conserve energy which is the biggest overall advantage. Even if he dosnt come first he can attempt 2nd or 3rd given how confident he maybe for the next events. Being able to dictate your energy level and earn point is massive.

  • If one thing concerns me about the final 3 events for Tom, it is the Conan’s Wheel. Tom needs a strong performance to maintain his lead going into the final two events. However, he does have the advantage of going last which affords him the ability to see where the other competitors finish which could provide that extra bit of motivation to go a little further opposed to not going last. I don’t know how or if Hooper’s injury will effect the deadlift for reps but I expect him and Tom to finish within one place of each other setting up a potential winner take all in the Atlas Stones.

I had Mitch winning the Yoke, so that absolutely threw a wrench in things. I'm elated that it put some daylight between Tom and Mitch. Not much mind you, but something and that makes my day. • 7.75m held by Brian… they went up by one cm to 7.76? I understand small increments count but they couldn’t have gone any higher like 7.8? Just seems like they wanted a record broken to have a record broken. Maybe little shade being thrown at Strongest Man on Earth?

  • Amazing start for Tom. But the Conans wheel will be the decider. Based on past results, Hooper could gain 3 or 4 points potentially. Or Tom continues to impress and improve, limit the damage/over achieve and clinch his 3rd WSM

    • tom has a habit of honing in on his weaknesses, deadlift used to be one of his weakest aswell as pressing but hes turned them into advantages. Given the gap he has over Hooper he can afford to loose a few point in a few of the events, becuase unless Hooper became godlier at stones over the last year stones is going to be toms event, given its the last event usually most atheletes struggle becuase of fatigue meanwhile tom has stones down to a literal T.

    • but if he isnt capable of the distance, knowing how far he has to go doesnt help. Are you saying he would travel less far if he went first? I doubt it. They all push to the max. The only way this helps is if you can walk way further than everyone else....then you can stop shortly after going the winning distance rather than tiring yourself out needlessly.

      @jtf2dan@jtf2dan13 күн бұрын
    • not sure why you keep saying this, when everyone else agrees its a huge advantage; it's clearly also even a huge mental advantage just to know what mark you have to hit, to have something to aim for. and if the other guys overpush themselves, that also exhausts them.

      @Seowie@Seowie13 күн бұрын
    • @@jtf2dan If you KNOW you have a target to beat, you absolutely CAN summon more drive to make it. I will give you an example. I can bench about 200lbs. If a gun was but to my head, bench 220 or die, I could probably single 220. Knowing the title is yours if you walk 1 more step on the conan wheel, you absolutely would and could push through. A stand a lone max effort is never the same as a comparison effort. Right now it is Tom's to lose. He is King of Atlas Stones in my view, but Mitch is no slouch and will win the dead lift for reps. One thing is for sure tight races are exciting. Evan a total surprise to me. - Cheers
