  • I live in Alberta and when Josh killed a bear up here with a spear, it was in fact legal. As for the ethics of the bear kill, if you saw the video, the bear went down quick. That’s the way it should be. I’ve heard of far too many numbnuts wounding bears with rifles or bows, and yet they don’t get dumped on like he did. But the media generated by his hunt was so huge that Alberta Conservation “immediately “ changed the law banning spears. Would I do it? Hell no. But I fail to understand why he got dumped on for a legal and ethical kill. I know nothing about his issues in the US, and if they screwed up, well then you pay the penalty…period.

I would say the plea fit the crime and they being in the industry made it a bigger deal than what it was thus blowing this up and causing all the other BULLSHIT to start flying! Time to move forward, these folks are not bad people, just got caught in a bad situation that they knowingly should have removed themselves from years ago!

  • The problem I had was how Josh and his legal representative played the card that the Lacey act was the problem. He has never been accountable for his actions. He proclaimed innocence even after accepting a plea, which is an admission of guilt. The other aspect is Josh was in business with the business owner, so he was a little more involved with the outfitter than you presented. If he ever came out and admitted his wrong doing, and apologized for how he represented himself and the community, I’d say all sins forgiven once he satisfies his legal repercussions. That’s the point of being found guilty and paying the price isn’t it, your held accountable and learn from it. But he will never do that, his ego won’t let him.

  • I lost interest in Kifarucast when Aron had Eddie Gallagher on (yes I think Gallagher is a war criminal). Bowmars mean nothing to me and they aren't representative of the hunting community either. Kifarucast turning off the comments is reflective of Arons thin skinned persona, which I don't understand why he cares what others think about him. He's done some good things for the hunting community. But the same thing happened on Rokslide when the Aron and Frank breakup occurred, a thread was locked when an open discussion happened on the board. Either way, let the Bowmars continue their cringe act, and huck their products.

A lot of temptation in the hunting world and I would imagine one would be hard pressed to find a hunt club or outfitter without a member that has crossed the line before (through their own actions), failed to report someone else’s wrong doing, or turned a blind eye. I don’t think being a member of the hunting community automatically means anyone deserves appreciation or respect but as humans always best to forgive and never forget.

Josh needs to put on the blinders and move forward with minimal attention to this mistake. On the other hand, he might need to hit the gym again to get back in shape first. • The fact that they argue/ block accounts and delete comments about them paying, losing huniting rights in a state and pleading guilty to conspiracy is what gets under so many peoples skin. It’s incredibly dishonest and disingenuous. No love lost for them from me, there never was any to begin with. The hunting community doesn’t need another snake in the grass. Justice may have been served in court, but not in the community.

    @Mackerel1776@Mackerel1776 Жыл бұрын
  • So, I have zero issue with him being in the hunting community. Just like Tim Wells, we need our “extreme” personalities to push the limits on methods available to harvest game. That does not mean that I have to support his brand, businesses, or channel. He has been sentenced his punitive damages for this incident, and he will/has paid his dues. I hold nothing against him. He’s just not my cup of tea for a few reasons. The issue I have with Bowmar has always been his dishonesty. Any comment he gets on his videos that isn’t “way to go” or “wish I was you” gets deleted. I had some comments deleted that were constructive criticism without being overly negative. This provides a dishonest front that everyone agrees with him and his style. The other thing was the suppressed rifle on the mule deer hunt he was charged with. From what I understood, archery hunting or recovering game cannot be done with a firearm in that area. His video showed the guide and him celebrating upon recovery with the guide clearly possessing a suppressed rifle on his shoulder. His own video showed it clearly but he stated he didn’t know the guide had it then stated he didn’t understand it was illegal. I don’t believe the firearm was used at all. Lastly, the baiting. Yes, it was legal in his area and you couldn’t hunt within 200 yards of it. I don’t believe he was illegally baiting. But he admitted to hunting within a few hundred yards, presumably more than 200 but within sight (and his own account of 220 or so) of baitpiles. To me, that’s like a child with his finger a millimeter away from your eyeball saying “I’m not touching you.” Was he illegally hunting over bait? No. But was he hunting immediately outside of the bait in order to harvest animals to and from the bait pile, or to at least draw animals in to his hunting area with bait? Yes. So while true, I believe he was testing the limits of the law and hunting outside its spirit. So, all in all, here is my take. He’s been served his justice. Let the industry and the community decide as a whole how welcome back he is. I don’t mind if he remains in the community, but I stopped watching his channel for the most part before this legal issue came to my attention and I doubt I’ll watch much of his channel now.

Josh's neck shot from 100m+ was a prime example of skill meaning nothing at that range - and for him to try to claim he had a double lung shot on offer was just a straight up lie. He and his wife both regularly take unethical shots and claim to have "smoked em", or made a great shot on the animal when the video shows otherwise. • Good perspective. I think one of the biggest hang ups for me was how they handled the situation after taking a plea deal. They made multiple posts saying all charges were dropped making it seem as though they did nothing wrong. In reality, they plead guilty to one thing in order to avoid going to trial for other alleged offenses. They could have chosen to be transparent with this information, but rather, it seemed as though they tried to mislead their followers. In addition, while I believe the system works and "justice" was served in this situation, I think we can both agree that just because the plea deal included dropping certain charges does not mean they did not commit those alleged crimes.

  • So anyone that says they broke the law is wrong. You can bait in Nebraska. You cannot hunt within 200 yards of the pile of bait. You can shoot deer on bait if you are more than 200 yards away. Also the fines where charged to them three times because there was 3 entities there. I thought that podcast was very enlightening because every article says they poached and was no evidence. Also the bear spearing is sweet. Your condensed material misses some of the points that are made and is made to get clicks. They made a mistake knowing stuff was going on yet never had hard evidence that they broke the law. I’m not trying to talk down to you in your video but I’m just saying that everyone needs to go listen to the podcast because it helps everyone understand the context of everything.

    • Better check the regs…. Hunter nor animal can be within 200 of baited area. Area considered baited 10 days after removal of said bait. From Nebraskas big game guide book “It is illegal to hunt any big game animals or turkeys within 200 yards of a baited area. An area is be considered baited for 10 days following the complete removal of all bait. The hunter and the animal must be outside of the baited area during the harvest or attempted harvest. A baited area is any location where grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, hay, minerals (including salt), or any other natural food materials, commercial products containing food materials, or by-products of such materials that may attract big game or turkey. The use of scents alone, normal environmental conditions, standard farming and ranching practices, forest management, wildlife food plantings, orchard management, or similar land management activities do not constitute a baited area.”

  • The American Constitution doesn't say a single word about hunting regulations. The Constitution does say it's the supreme law of the land, and any any state law, order, act, mandate or decree that violates your rights, automatically has no standing. If we lived in America and not under the U.S corporate title, where you are seen as government property, their would be no issues

  • Great ending haha. I think the reason this whole thing is such a big deal is because it’s the culmination of years of “buffoonery” and lack of regard for the impact of their actions/videos/publicity stunts on the public image of hunting. I can respect them for the reasons that you stated, and respect the legal justice that has been served, but I have a very hard time respecting them as hunters or “ambassadors” of the hunting community - broken laws or not. Their years of blatant disregard for common hunting ethics and respect for wildlife are what leave a sour taste in my mouth. This case is just the cherry (or cherry shaped turd) on top. But like you said, I hope this legal justice is sufficient and I hope it creates a significant change in their actions.

At first I was against the Bowmars and hated on them but I was wrong as I have learned the whole truth now. I know the legal system and if you poached or broke a law and the state or feds had proof then they will 💯 % prosecute you. They dropped the other charges because there was no proof and the Bowmars would have won in court. All in all list all the good things the Bowmars have done and make a list of the bad then you will have your answer. We all deserve to be forgiven and not judged first.

  • Their morals overall don’t align with the hunting/conservation community. They knowingly broke the law in the name of creating content, which at the end of the day is profitable. We are already under intense scrutiny as hunters by other hunters and non-hunters alike. Him, his wife and Chris Brackett are birds of a feather. Brackett is no longer relevant and rightfully so! I believe it’s time for the Bowmars to get cancelled in the same way. But I also think they will end up remaining in the hunting & content creating community more so than Brackett, because they sell a lot of different products like you touched on. I haven’t checked to see if they have publicly apologized or not. Did they? And if they did was it actually heartfelt? Your opinion about the Bowmars, although I don’t agree with them, are argued concisely.

    • In all fairness he didn’t poach or get charged with poaching. He got charged and plead guilty to conspiracy of knowing it was going on. There’s a massive difference. • The entire reason people have jumped on this is because they consistently lied and made claims they were innocent...when they weren't. They were only sorry because they finally got caught, the "hunting community" doesn't need them or anyone who puts content and products over regulations/laws. They aren't good for the industry, when individuals with large followings or spotlight gain attention all hunters are viewed this way by some parts of society. I say let the Bowmars sit in the hole they dug and let's not waste anymore time or attention on them.

  • Josh seems like a good guy but he is also a narcissist. We definitely need people like the Bomars within the hunting community - ultimately, they represent the few "fighters" we have. In Wisconsin, there are a ton of men who rail at the crossbow's inclusion into the archery season, yet they sat on their couch while the fight was occurring. Additionally, baiting is illegal in the county I live in, yet people in my neighborhood put out bait. The DNR allows a ton of illegal activity to occur unfettered, like stands left on public land or considers sketchy activity like shining to be perfectly legal - do I have to turn in my neighbors because they are too "busy" to investigate? Thank you for allowing comments on your channel.
