  • Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology. He was 22 in this performance and is 28 now (only gotten better). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion" 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, and "Ave Maria" 2021. Each performance will leave you stunned. Thank you for reacting to our Dimash!

He also plays a ton of instruments, speaks and sings in a ton of languages, acts, models, and does it all with more humility than the Dalai Lama.

  • I love to see new reactors get metaphorically smacked in the face by Dimash. I hate to say it but this was 2017 and Dimash has spent the last 5 years honing that impressive voice even more with new techniques and singing styles. He sings everything from Opera to Rap and will blow your mind every time. His music videos are a work of art in themselves. To let you know how big he's become in the last few years, he held a concert in his home country just over a week ago which sold out to 35,000 people who came from 68 countries around the world just to hear him sing. Btw he has a wicked sense of humour and is renowned for not taking himself seriously, he say he no longer watches reactions to him as he doesn't want to get a big head! 🤣🤣

  • The funny thing is, he didn't even showed his whole range here (not even close!) and he was only 22 in this video, he is 28 now and as hard it may be to believe he improved a LOT since then. He is classically trained since age five (both his parents are singers and catched his passion for music and perfect pitch very eaarly). He is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, singing in 14 languages so far. He is singing every style from classical, pop, rock, traditional Kazakh to rap, usually using multiple styles in one song and he is a very thoughtful, gentle and humble young man working hard on his craft. You never knew what to expect with a new song. As unbelievable as it sounds it is not even exaggerated - he is literally single-handedly overwriting what is possible for a human voice.

    • @@grieverproductions2022 something you said about the seamless transitions made me think. If you were to listen to him sing in any of the 3-5 different vocal ranges he seems to possess for any length of time you would swear that was his working range. The way I think of this song, which he always seems to open with at his concerts, even if it is only two songs, is that it is like the sampler plate you can get at a sushi restaurant. He gives a little bit of everything he is able to sing to you. In fact that last run from low to high is the sampler of notes all done in exquisite fashion. So I've already become a subscriber from this example of your reaction.

  • He's even better now (yes, I know that's hard to imagine at the moment). Over the last 5 years he has raised the bar considerably from this performance. Strap yourself in if you are going to go further down this rabbit hole. Dimash is going to shock you more than once because he sings in every register, in every style in at least 13 or 14 languages (Mostly Kazakh, English, Italian, Russian and Mandarin. You won't get a handle on just how ridiculous he is until you are at least 5 or 6 songs in... because he's a vocal chameleon. He didn't use whistle register in this song (which was in French), that doesn't kick in for him until after F6... although recently he may have pushed that to past G6. His whistle register then goes off the piano to D8 (maybe more, he won't tell us what his range is so we can only go by live recordings). He will shock you with his ridiculous soprano range and then throw in some base notes like it's nothing. He can sing in head voice up to F6/G6, whistle register up to D8, mix voice up to C6 and chest voice down to C2 (or maybe F1)... but he can sing lower with fry and growls, etc. He can sing Bel Canto as a baritone, tenor, counter tenor and soprano and sounds equally at home in all of it. He does songs in pop, rock, rap, folk and classical style and then fuses them all together in ways that wouldn't work with any other singer. He has degrees in both classical vocal and pop/jazz vocal, plus a masters in composition and currently doing his PhD in Musicology. He is also a master at eastern styles of singing and frequently fuses both east and west into the same song in amazingly innovative ways. He will sound like a literal angel and then break out into a perfect rock scream. He will throw in a jazz or blues melisma and then a note perfect classical melisma... then shock you with an eastern melisma complete with quartertones. He plays with his resonance and breath and uses them as vocal effects in ways that add the most interesting dynamics to songs... it's just masterful. Oh, and he plays a bunch of instruments and even dances. If you want a taste of the versatility of Dimash, I recommend 'Stranger 2021,' 'Ave maria 2021', 'Ikanaide 2021' 'Olimpico' with Igor Krutoy (the one with the thumbnail that looks like a halo of lights around him), 'Screaming 2021', 'Be With Me' the official video, 'Know (Vocalise) from the ARNAU TOUR and 'Drunken Concubine/Diva Dance' with Li Yugeng. Dimash has numerous songs that are completely unsingable for any other singer, but he also has a whole range of 'normal' songs that he sings with the most beautiful angelic, resonant tone. Try 'Qaragym Ai', 'Amanat' or 'Umytylmas Kun (Unforgettable Day) 2021. I'd love to see more of your Dimash reactions. Your face, when he started singing and did the first 2 octave phrase, was exactly me 5 years ago LOL!

His latest MV is a must. He wrote the music and he has a very important message to relate. His acting is very good and you will hear a little more of his range but still not all of it. He amazes and shocks every new performance. Just when you think he can’t improve, he comes up with something new. His latest mini movie The Story of One Sky, is a masterpiece. Even regular Reactors have to stop to get a breather. • "The comments say that he's the best singer in the world. This is dangerous for me. Because that means that I have high expectations and I don't like that." - It looks like your expectations were met. This why we love watching vocal coaches react and discover Dimash. I'm 52 years old and music has been a large part of my life (trumpet). I discovered Dimash last year. Every additional song I listened to blew me away. He has so many different colors to his voice, he flows through all the registers with ease, reaches in, grabs your soul and takes you on an incredible vocal ride every time. I've never had any singer move me the way Dimash does. His tone is so pure and angelic. The look on your face as the song progressed was priceless. Listen to more songs of his and you'll see all the different genre's he capable of singing. Most people start with "SOS" and then move on to "Sinful Pasion", "Stranger", "Adagio", Queen's "The Show Must Go On" but anything you watch and listen to will blow you away again and again and again. I subscribed just so I can go on your Dimash journey with you. It only gets better. - Pete from Dallas.

He developed his baritone range after this competition, and now hits bass notes easily. Oh.... and his highs have gotten higher. Other than the fact of his incredible range, uncanny ability to emote emotion, outstanding stage presence, and good looks, he's a respectable down-to-earth gentleman. He has class and character, which can be hard to find these days. He calls his fans "Dears". He is the complete package, as well as arguably being the greatest vocalist on planet Earth. • This song is a pearl of the French songbook is a Canadian-French cyberpunk-rock opera called Starmania, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Grégory Lemarchal. The song's theme is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the distressed character: From chest voice to head voice and then falsetto, the author aimed to show a broad need to win a long of desperation and the need to reach a very high perspective! Dimash, currently in his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who left this world!

When you said at the beginning that you were worried because you had high expectations, I knew you'd be very pleased! It's hard to have expectations that are too high when you are dealing with Dimash! And it's not just this song either! Pretty much every one of his songs are just as great in their own ways! We Dears (Dimash calls his fans Dears because he says they are very dear to him) usually like to suggest "Sinful Passion" next (to break you in gently 😃) before suggesting MANY MANY others! You will NOT be disappointed! (Well, ok, you may not like every song, but you won't be disappointed with his voice or his delivery! He is a great story-teller!) Most of his songs have English subtitles if you check for them. He still has a couple other vocal registers that aren't used in this song. You will see MANY amazing things written about Dimash, and I will say that at least 95 % is actually true! It's hard to exaggerate his abilities! I hope you will enjoy many more of his songs! He sings in many genres (and often mixes several together). I found that his style really grew on me and now I love it! Greetings from Canada.

  • Thank you for the reaction and analysis :) Indeed, it was a competition, but for professional singers in China. Dimash had won some regional competitions, since 2012, and was invited as a wild card in the chinese show "I am a singer". Range-wise, Dimash can sing in 6 octaves, and hit notes in ~7,2. He can handle the 6th octave in head voice +/- flageolet up to F6, and his whistle notes only begin in the 7th octave (E7, F7, F#7, G7, and once he hit a D8 above grand piano range). And he can go down to bass register. And he has 'absolute pitch', as teachers noticed since he was 5 yo and started vocal+piano school. That`s just a short technical description. And his lower register has gotten richer, lower and fuller with age, while his high register continues to make people weep. He is a university graduate in Bel Canto and in Contemporary (Jazz, Pop), and still practices 3 h every day. He has 'masculine' power in his pure soprano register, and 'feminine' gentleness in his lower register, while other times he injects full power into his lower register. His choices of vocal techniques when delivering a song, and the emotion he is capable to express, the perfectly balanced combination of technique and emotion, are yet to be matched, in my perception. This performance of "SOS" is from 2017. You should really take a look at the 2021 version - to hear the evolution of his registers : SOS 2021 (Digital Show) : kzhead.info/sun/dLl6gs6dr3WKn4k/bejne.html (has subtitles too) To act like a complete fan, I can`t help mentioning that indeed, he is a very humble guy, never fails to express his gratitude towards his teachers, family, his country that he loves. And he means every word. He is very self critical, and constantly works on his improvement. His band and team are like family to him, his fans are like family to him (which is why he called them "Dears"). And on top of that, he is a very refreshing artist to be a fan of, as he leads a grounded, balanced, clean life. Doesn`t go to clubs (doesn`t like loud music and is trying to avoid it affecting his ears), doesn`t do drugs, doesn`t get drunk, doesn`t smoke. All he does is play some sports, swim, play some Counter Strike with friends, and spend countless hours in his studio working on his music, rehearsing, and doing vocal training. And he has a Master`s Degree in Composition as well, which he put to very good use in the songs that he composed himself (few so far, but amazing) Style-wise, he was offered a position at the Astana Opera, but he decided to make a career in neoclassical, cross-over. He has since done/performed songs in all kinds of styles and combinations thereof, mixing elements of pop, opera, rap, rock, kazakh folk etc. And he is a huge fan of Michael Jackson, which is a major influence in his pop songs. According to him the most permanent effect on his career as a musical artist bore: Michael Jackson, Ermek Serkebaev, Céline Dion, Lara Fabian, Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli. So far, Dimash has fanclubs in 100 countries of the world, and all his solo concerts were sold out. For his concert in New York 2019, in a full Barclays Center Arena, people travelled from 41 US states and 54 other countries to be there. I loved your reaction and analysis video, and I have gladly subscribed :) I hope to see more reactions to Dimash`s music on your channel :)

  • Amazing first reaction to Dimash my friend!!...He is the best male singer of the world (In my personal opinion)...Thank you for follow my recomentation....But Dimash isn´t my unique gift for you my friend...Now I want to invite you to meet, who is considered like The Fourth Element of All Time Vocal Trinity (with Whitney, Mariah and Celine) and one of the Best Female Singers of the World...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see covers of her songs on KZhead made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Polina Gagarina, Forestella, Julie Anne San Jose, Laura Bretan, Katherine Jenkins, Sissel Kyrkjebo, Floor Jansen, Diana Navarro, Giulia Falcone, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Rimar, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Lara...Here you have the link of her amazing performance of the song “Je Suis Malade”....kzhead.info/sun/mKyMqc9sinmqqJE/bejne.html

  • I highly recommend for you to check Opera 2, Show must go on and Adagio from the I am singer competition in China 2017. It is for professional performers only and Dimash was invited there as a wild card. This performance started the whole show that year. Other performances Sinful passion, The Diva Dance from his Bastau concert (yes, the Fifth Element song), Ogni Pietra from his Arnau tour (composed for him by Igor Krutoi) and Know (ascolta la voce) the vocalize from his Arnau tour he sings with no lyrics and Ikanaide with that absolutely gorgeous ending. To learn about his full range, I would add Stranger, and Unforgettable day from Gakku where he hit the famous D8. Yes, out of piano. In order to learn all the things this man can do with his voice, you really need to see a lot of performances, because he actually does everything one possible can with his voice, showing something new every time. He`s been studying singing since he was 5 and still practices three hours every day and keeps good care of his physics, because as he says, singing like that takes a lot of power and you really need to be in good condition to be able to do that.

  • Yes, Dimash is one of the best, if not the best voice out there today. He was only 22 in this video, he is 28 now, and his base register has become absolutely gorgeous, while keeping all the high registers. By the way, he didn’t even get close to his whistle register here, for that , you have to watch « Unforgettable Day Gakku », where he hits a D8 (yes D8), with vibrato. Dimash is versatile, singing Rap to Opera and anything in between; in 16 languages (he just premiered his first song in Spanish last week at his Almaty concert), he has many musical degrees, including one in composition, which he put in great display this week when premiered « Story of one sky », a 12 minute MV which he produced, acted in and wrote the music for, a cry for peace for the world. It is a masterpiece. Dimash has many pop songs, including « Be with me », « Give me your love », « Fly away », and « Zhalin », « a tribute to Michael Jackson » and « Screaming ». . He is perfectly well rounded and each performance is perfect. You noticed that he thanked the maestro; Dimash is always a gentleman and thanks everyone on his team. I hope you dig a little more in Dimash’s world!

Te sugiero escuchar Stranger, Olímpico, Sinfull passion, Across endless dimensions, Oceans over the times, Requiem: The story of one Sky y todas las que puedas!

  • Dimash is a very humble & down to earth guy who is very respectful, caring & loving to everybody. He is very patriotic to Kazakhstan & one of his big wishes is to bring the Kazakh folk music to the world & he's doing this. You have only just begun with this guy. He really is phenomenal! As for the French song the translation of the 1st line is Why do I live, why do I die, why do I scream, why do I cry? The title translates to SOS - An Earthling In Distress. I'm sure you will discover so much more from Dimash & will love it all. Try out some of his Kazakh folk songs, his favourite seems to be Daididau which is did the arrangement for at age15 with some help from his dad's friend. Then there is Samaltau which is amazing and also Durduraz which has a more rock sound to it. All if these are accompanied by traditional Kazakh instruments &, in some, with Western instruments added. Dimash is also a multi-instrumentalist and plays the Dombra in his live shows usually with others (Dombra is the oldest instrument in the world & has just 2 strings). He has also released a video of himself playing the Dombra & a accompanied by his keyboard player called Rivers of Love. He has 2 Music Degrees & is also studying for a Doctorate in music. He really does live for music and is amazing at what he does. Thanks for the reaction, brilliant 👏 😀

He is also a musician (7 instruments), a composer, a producer, an actor, a model and he dances pretty well. He is very well educated (currently on his PhD in musicology), study music and signing since the age of 5. Classically trained and also in contemporary music. Eventually, you should react to The story of one Sky (his greatest masterpiece), but it's too soon. First react to his classics : Sinful Passion Love in Like a Dream Olimpico/Ogni Pietra (Arnau concert version or his 2021 digital concert version) Daididau (Bastau concert) Samaltau (Tokyo Jazz festival version or his 2021 digital concert version) Daybreak (at Bastau concert) Diva Dance (at Bastau concert) Know (the version with lyrics and the vocalise version at Kiev concert) Stranger Ave Maria Omir Oter (his 2021 digital concert version) Be With Me (the music video or his 2021 digital concert version) ... and dozens more

  • Great reaction. High expectations of Dimash are always exceeded. If you want to do it right you need to react to his cover of "Sinful Passion" It's in Russian and what he does is beyond belief. When he does a soprano thing, most vocal coaches kind of laugh at first until they realize that he is doing it perfectly and he reaches an E6, then he goes into a 25 second (one breath) magical mystery tour with his voice. To hear an incredible love song, it's slow at first, then you hear an angel sing and that song is "Love is like a Dream". If you want to see him having fun blowing people's minds listen to "Opera 2". If you want to hear him sing opera listen to "Olympico (ogni pietra)" where he goes from baritone/bass baritone through tenor then counter tenor then soprano, it's stunning and not a regular piece of opera as it was written specifically for him. Then you move to the more current stuff and you find that he has gotten even better. "Stranger" is the most incredible show piece of his vocals, he literally sings F in 5 (yes 5) octaves from a low B2 or G2 to an F6 and ends it with a 20 second belt. Finally, to hear an angel sing, he sings soprano for a vocalize version of "Ave Maria" and what he does at the end can only be done by Dimash. Enjoy the rabbit hole of the greatest singer in the world and maybe even ever.

  • Welcome to Dimash´s world. His name sounds: Dimash accented “mash” and accented /´gen. He is from Kazakhstan but there was singing in Hunan TV show "I am singer" in China when he was 22 years old. He uses techniques from opera, modern lyric, ethnic, glam, hard rock and pop environments. Registers don´t apply to him. Not only male voice, no female voice, no alien voice: Dimash voice. He connects to the lyrics and adds textures to his voice accordingly. So to get the full meaning look for a subtitled version of each; for instance you can react to these videos with english subtitles, good image and sound: * Dimash - Love is like a dream (Alla Pugacheva) kzhead.info/sun/q7B-gd6eqIGVn2g/bejne.html * Dimash - Greshnaya strast (Sinful passion) by A'Studio kzhead.info/sun/ip1_nKiFeqFuf40/bejne.html “SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamondon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.

  • FANTASTIC FIRST REACTION! Dude knows his craft? OH, YEAH! Been training since 5, and is currently working toward (or may have earned by now) his Ph.D. in music! Has a 7-octave (some say 8) range in addition to an almost imperceptible whistle register (dogs love it!) and subharmonic. I love it when vocal coaches and teachers react in utter shock and disbelief at their first (and 10th!) time listening to Dimash! Lol! If you want a SUPREME example of his breath control, you must check out his performance of "Stranger" and witness his grand finale! It will leave you "breathless" (pardon the pun)!

  • 👉 This was a historic moment and is Dimash’s calling card. That is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (That is what Dimash calls us fans.) The best comment from a Dear under the first video: „If you are having a bad day, remember, someone had to sing after him.“ 🤣 That one moment when a vblogger first hear Dimash and is instantly mesmerized by it... priceless and beautiful to watch. I love it!This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer). The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice. That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZhead ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won). * Original: Daniel Balavoine - SOS d'un terrien en détresse (Starmania) - kzhead.info/sun/bM-TpaigrIahq30/bejne.html
