  • It's funny how some players and parents still don't understand that the elite players still work on their skating to reach and stay at the highest levels of hockey. It's just getting more dynamic every year! Thanks for the vid!!

  • Doing 3 years of Russian edge work when I played was the 3 most beneficial years as far as improving on a skill I’ve ever had! I’ve always had excellent skating style and fundamentals but my edge work brought my skating to a whole new level! If you’re a player watching this trying to improve I can promise you you want to do everything in this video!

  • Thanks so much for this content. As a big guy who's new to the game, I need all the help I can get. I've quickly learned that skating is like 80-90% of the game - not stick work or shooting, but skating. As such it's so important to know the fundamentals and technique involved; balance, edge work, ankle, knee and hip strength (as well as upper body strength for stability and guidance). Videos like this a paramount to building excellent technique, speed, and strength and stability when lacing 'em up.

    @dan3307@dan3307 Жыл бұрын
    • One issue I have though is I often see these videos where a skating coach will explain technique and such without any padding or equipment. The extra padding and equipment can significantly change ones mobility and flexibility. Do you have any guidance where this is concerned? (granted if you're playing a game, all players have padding so it is equal footing technically)

    @MrEyeskel@MrEyeskel4 жыл бұрын
    • I stopped tying my top eyelets and it was weird for the first 5 minutes while figuring out stability but discovered it gives MUCH more freedom of ankle movement for turns and acceleration. I don't know how people do it with such restricted movement anymore. I guess it also comes down to personal preference like most things.

      @rh71@rh714 жыл бұрын
    • Isaac, I don't know how long you've been skating but the ankle looser allows you soooo much more agility and forward lean.

      @jasonschwartz9481@jasonschwartz94814 жыл бұрын
    • We have ankles for a reason, i cant imagine skating with my laces tied all the way up. Too restrictive and it even hurts my ankle bones

      @justingt3rs@justingt3rs4 жыл бұрын
    • @@justingt3rs yeah. It's the reason why I switched from Supremes to Vapors...high end Supremes are just way too stiff even with the top lace undone.

      @jasonschwartz9481@jasonschwartz94814 жыл бұрын
    • @@ShootBlueRental tight where they should be. I think the original post was in regards to his upper two laces being looser for ankle mobility. Which, he has them about as loose as most skaters. And, he's wearing, what? Vapors I think. Also give more ankle movement. So, loose for someone who hasn't skated a bunch.
