12 new edge work skating drills with Steve from BK Hockey that you can use to improve your edge work. This includes some more basic drills towards the beginning, and then we get into intermediate and advanced edge work drills toward the end of the video.

  • This edge transition drill at 5:19 is kind of magic - I think there's also a bit easier one where you go from forward inside edge to backward inside edge

  • Great video! I coach mites, and I'm always looking for good videos to recommend. LOVE how you focus in on the specific edge, show the skill at speed and then show it in slow motion. Can't wait to implement some of the drills for the as they develop their edges.

  • Your videos are awesome, Steve. I wish I was able to persuade my son’s coach to do drills like this. Instead they are doing line drill from when he was like 6. He’s 10 now and I ready for more advance drills. I digress, great vids keep them coming!

  • What hollow do you have on your skates? It sounds like you have a very deep hollow? Is it easier to get lower with a shallow or deeper hollow? I recently went from a 3/8" to a 5/8" radius of hollow on my edges and I feel like it has slowed me down. I'm 6'4" 205#.

    • Anytime you decrease hollow you increase speed as there is less edge grabbing the ice. 3/8 is really deep (although it is also what I started on). As you become a better skater, try to go more and more shallow. The goal is to have the most shallow hollow as possible while still being able to hold the edge. Hope this helped!
