My criteria was as long as my dog exhibited the desire to eat and was able to swallow.For night terrors I held her and it seemed to reduce her 3:45 anxiety .She saw the vet once a month.17 months after symptoms appeared she started having difficulty swallowing and my vet and I agreed it was time .I still miss Lil' Sandy.

@@AzzekaTheRealOne it is hard,I know,it breaks your heart to witness their confusion.I had to make myself strong because I knew I was her whole world,and I could not betray the trust she had placed in me when she was cognizant.Some times I would leave the room and go cry for a few minutes ,then come back in with dog treats and hold her. I feel your pain,and send you words of encouragement.

I'm going through this with my 19 yr old cat. I think I'm gonna take her in this week
