I was 23 when I saw this movie, and at 33 I would absolutely pay a ticket to see this in theatres again.
just watched it yesterday in IMAX SYDNEY again. amazing
Put the first jurrasic park on the list too, that movie was a gem
Check Fandango - Its out April 16th and 17 - 2024.
My only regret was not seeing it in IMAX during the theatrical run
@@dipakpatel188same here we were probably in the same theatre then. It was showing on Tuesday 29 January best experience ever 👍😎
- "what are you doing?" - "Docking" Then the music... chills.
I know. I get goose bumps every time I watch this dame scene!
"It's Not Possible." "No, It's Necessary." This Movie Is Ridiculously Goated
Chills down my spine
Hmm.
Thats what I tell my wife when I’m going in the back door
What’s that in English? Is goated some form of cheap inner city ghetto argot?
Yep
Me: “Paramount, rerelease this in IMAX so we can see this scene in all its glory.” Paramount: “It’s not possible!” Me: “No, it’s necessary.”
YESS
😂😂😂 Yes!
Exceptional comment
It's coming back in IMAX in September!!!
“What happens if he blows the airlock?” “Nothing good.” 😂TARS
Still make me laugh like thanks TARS i kinda guessed that i wanted more of a precise description not shit gonna hit the fan human
My favourite character 😂
Wasn't TARS. It was CASE
Our entire theatre cheered once he docked to the station.
Yeah same, my jaw dropped when mann blew the hatch, watching the endurance just spin away in a cloud of debris, I was just stunned
Love the detail of the more experienced pilot keeping his head in the correct position whereas the more inexperienced does not and it causes them to black out. Excellent attention to detail.
Well....this is called "writing" ... a relic modern films know nothing about.
Also, sooooo many movies about space have sound effects OUTSIDE the spaceship/space station! The director of "Interstellar" understood science. There is no sound when the explosion occurs because they are in space. Space by definition is a vacuum so you won't hear anything. I haven't seen this much attention to detail since "2001".
@@thesciguy4823oh please. There are plenty of good movies that come out today. People used to say the same thing about movies back in the 90s. It’s the never ending flow of time. Where every generation constantly believes that they are the last good one.

@@ArchTeryx00 Don’t judge me Arch, you were not tested like I was 😂 Actually they mention Mann was the best of them who inspired a lot of people.
@@Nasirmah Mann didn't start out evil. He went mad from homesickness, on a completely unsuitable planet for human colonization. By the time Cooper found him he was willing to do anything, including murder, to get home. The whole scene showed just how insane he was, since he knew the Ranger was not properly docked, and bulled forward until he hit the china shop full on.
There’s nothing better than watching Matthew McConaughey docking.
😂😂😂
there is.. Matt Damon being blasted out of the ship and killing himself cuz of his own dumbness lol
TARS and CASE are the two AI's calculated every possibility for docking and said ''It's not possible '' . AI may be 99% correct but 1% RISK taking capability of human saved them.
Gosh dang, this is a spot on comment. They calculated a decision at first until a human ordered new inputs. That is the power of human thinking and decision. AI can’t replace human, only supplement us,
Their risk level was set to low.
The truth is in the decimals. The AI was coded to give an answer from 0 to 100%, with maybe one decimal. One chance in a million would then be rounded up to 0 by a computer, but to a possible outcome for a human.

What a brilliant scene. The background score by Hans 🙏🫡
I heard especially this part of the score has been edited but someone else afterwards to make it even more dramatic.
"Come on TARS" ..goosebumps
One of the few films where robots save the day, in the original script the only reasons human live is because of Chinese robots crack the formula to gravity.
crying
It’s the music giving you goosebumps
Kinda hard to believe this year is the 10th anniversary of Interstellar. Still one of my favorite films, and one of the few films i went to the theater twice to see. Seeing it in large format is still one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had at the theater. The sound/score was just incredible (like most Nolan blockbuster films), but No Time For Caution was just the pinnacle!
exactly the same for me
2:08 the music... oh, Lord, the music...
Hans Zimmer interstellar. I highly recommend his live concert in Prague. Its here on youtube.
@@writerconsidered The organ gives the music some seriousness and implies a religious tone. Fantastic.

Please bring it back to IMAX, i missed it back in 2014 😭😭
They just announced it's going to be re released in imax this September to celebrate the 10th anniversary!
one of the best scenes ever filmed in movie history
Not filmed though. Right? ❤
@@davidjoseph3403 They use IMAX camera which still uses film. Noland is still on of the few directors to get studios to spend money on film.
This is the best scene in cinema history in my opinion. Edit: I don't get all the hate in the replies
Came here to say this
No. Tidal wave scene is better
I agree 100%
One of the best. I remember watching this in the cinema, and I didn't realise I was digging my fingers into my thighs until I relaxed at the end of the scene!
@@swerthers884 I held my breathe unknowingly for like a minute during this scene...
Luckily for them, Endurance wasn't tumbling with any angular velocity around any of the other two cardinal axes
Never thought of that
And the docking clamps could take the full force of the thrusters.
Well they have been design docking clamps to do that since the ISS days. The ISS docking clamps need to handle Soyuz boosting it to higher orbits.@@bergiov
PLUS the center of mass was still exactly dead center of the docking mechanism despite multiple modules nearly completely missing. Without a counterbalancing mechanism in the station, that's some serious luck.Same goes for the ranger. Which also simply can't do donuts, forget Ai or humans doing it.
How many times have u watched this scene...? 🤔 . . Me : Infinity ♾️😅
Quite possibly the best scene the whole movie. The moment that humanity dies or has a chance.
When that organ beat drops *chills*. Hans, you never fail to completely perfect a scene.
“Cooper, this is no time for caution…” “Case, if I black out, you take the stick.” like- the buildup, the tone, the tension, the timing. like we’re going over the hill of the rollercoaster. what a ride!!!!
I have seen this masterpiece in theatre and this is the best film of humanity
You are so lucky to have experienced this in a movie theater
@@Infinite-void908It's back in theaters on 4/17 and 4/18 at regal!!
It was re-released in IMAX @ New Delhi last month..I Ended up watching it 3 times. Worse thing is that, I still get tears and goosebumps in many scenes and it never gets old. 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤
03:34 What is so captivating about this particular scene is how Nolan went above and beyond being physically accurate for the concept as well as for the viewer. Then whether it is matching what you see from inside the lander outside the space and the universe rotating around or the rotation of the endurance and lander before they get in sync with each other. Absolutely phenomenal.
Yes, that moment is so great
Few directors match Nolan's level of detail.
I like the robots. Not too many films have AI robots that are straight talking without a sinister side. These are very helpful AI machines that are necessary and will give their 'life' if told to do so, not because of any human concept of duty but because they are in essence just functional machines.
The score makes this scene 10X better
The amount of money I would pay to watch this movie for the first time in theaters again. Incredible.
TARS was defo my favorite character in this movie
literally saves all mankind
@@LinkTheKinkhim and coop the best duo
The edit and McConaughey's performance at 1:44 are masterful: Cooper has barely seen what's happened and he goes into action. It's the blockbuster feeling of "my God, they're gonna go for it"--meaning the characters *and* the filmmakers.
This scenes going to be remembered in film history man
TARS is the hero thougout the movie. People think Cooper was steering, he wasn't. Hence...."c'mon TARS". Cooper was a long for the ride, he gave TARS permission
Because of the settings he changed earlier
Who fcked it up? Dr. "Man"....anyways glad I could help
No… cooper and case were controlling the ship. Tars job was to first call out when they were lined up and then the manual docking… coop and case controlled the r ship
Brand blacked out and the moment she regained consciousness, she was shocked to see Cooper already docked with Endurance and taken control ! Salute 🫡
Case: there is no point using fuel.... Cooper: ANALYZE ENDURANCE SPIN
5:58 There's something chilling about seeing the empty vacuum of space inside your ship.
Like a gaping wound on the human body, you know that any breach on the skin/hull is very, VERY wrong… because such a breach is just the beginning of even more bad things.
basically staring death in the face
Amazing how well this movie still holds up visually
You make it sound like it's 30 years old..
The movie isn't too old, but what's really important is that Nolan prefers using practical effects over computer effects whenever he can. He only adds CGI as a last resort, and even then, only to enhance the practical effects. Unlike many modern movies that rely too much on CGI, Nolan's approach helps keep things looking more realistic. Sometimes in those other movies, the CGI is rushed, and it ends up making things look fake.
@@somebody4763 most movies do prefer practical
@@wickywills 10 years is a decent amount of time for a movie to age poorly from my perspective, also I grew up with technology that exponentially. In the 90s, if you were alive, technology rapidly grew. I'm simply saying it could be released in 2024 and you wouldn't know the difference
@@wickywillsconsidering there’s movies and shows today that are filmed like doo doo. It’s pretty damn stunning graphically.
I still get caught off guard when Mann gets pulled from the Endurance and there's no big audio blast - it just kind of 'happens'. Nolan was apparently a stickler for accuracy, and he NAILED the absence of audio - replaced with Zimmer's score.
To think that Dr. Mann was unable to manually dock with the Endurance while it was stationary, and moments later Cooper and TARS were able to do it while it was spinning at 68 rotations per minute and plummeting toward the planet with no heat shield to protect it from incineration. Absolutely heroic feat.
AI said it wasn´t possible, but a human said it was. Powerful!
Great theater experience. I love his lack of hesitation in this scene
Good thing it’s spinning on its axis and not wobbling
Incredible sequence. When Mann blew the airlock and the Ranger crashed into the Endurance's module. it changed the entire center of gravity of the Endurance. It isn't easily visible in most scenes, but Endurance wasn't in a simple spin.. It was *precessing,* spiraling around a changing point like a hole in a gear inside of a Spirograph ring. The Lander didn't just have to match the Endurance's spin but it had to match a *spiral* trajectory - one which was changing in real time as Endurance continued to shed debris and her CG continued changing. Without the help of TARS Cooper could never have done it. That he did it WITH TARS was a pure, undiluted GOAT manuver. Even the AI didn't think it could be done. "It's not possible!" ":No. It's *necessary."* Bad. Ass. And so was the soundtrack. That final note on the church organ was at such a volume *the entire building was audibly shaking.* Just an astounding scene.
The music! So amazing. Gripping. I love this movie. It's so real. Even the lack of sound during space explosions. They did it right.
"Docking!" ...God i love this film. The writing.... cinematography...sound...music.. .acting...STELLAR!
One of the best scenes in cinema.
Best scene, ever. "Cooper, it's not possible." "No, it's necessary"
TARS set the goosebumps to 100%
By far one of the best scenes produced by Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer just spraying his magic out of his pocket full of surprises! 🤩
single greatest scene in the history of cinema
I fucking love the silence when everything blows up.
Definitely the most magnificent stage and musical performance in the history of cinema. It's truly incredible.
I've seen this scene on IMAX and.....literally one of the biggest big screen scene of my life. The music, the timing, the actors, the visual effects....everything was perfect. I didn't love all the plot and some things about the movie. But this scene was so perfect that made the movie one of my favourites.
One of the 🐐 movies
This was already an instant classic when it came out. Now it's a masterpiece
Went full Dad mode. He made a promise. He will sure as hell try and keep it regardless the odds.
Cinema magic, just pure brilliance. Speechless from this scene every time I watch this!
A true masterpiece
I mean Case and Tars are real MVPs in this movie, always so reliable
One of the best scenes in the cinematic history 🎞️📽️🔥
Case; It's not possible Cooper; No, It's Necessary. The difference between AI vs Human
I really loved the movie Interstellar before, and then I got a life accident that changed my mental life. after a lot of pain and a huge sum of thoughts to end my life years ago. Now this scene is the best scene in movie history for me because it is like a part of my life why I suffered because of a stupid person mistake, a moment of silence, thoughts and then go to action and save their life and the life of human beings for this particular action. Thank you Christopher Nolar and to all great directors for giving our life a meaning and some air to breathe.
When i first saw it in my lap,i tried to reduce the volume when the explosion happened. But there was nothing. Then i realised,on its on space.there's no air. That moment i become a fan of his work, how accurate it is to facts😮❤
Back to the theatre
A mind chilling tear jerker & you must watch on a big screen...
Those retro thrusters were the hero of the film!
I remember seeing this movie in IMAX! One of my favorite Christopher Nolan movies of all time
this is a fookin' ace movie! in its genre, prob the best! so realistic, great production, great special effects. luv it
One of best movie to be ever created by the Man Kind
Such powerful cinematography and musical score.
My favorite movie of all time
Best scene of one of the best movies ever.
one of the most tense scene in all of cinematic history
I recently went to an orchestral evening that centred on the film scores of Williams & Zimmer. Very enjoyable evening with some great playing but when they played this piece of music I was disappointed. It was a piece I was deeply looking forward to but it didn’t have the volume or the breadth that the original score has. Zimmer & Nolan really hit a peak with this one.
Best moment in the whole movie ❤
What a scene! One of the very best in the history of cinema
This scene..... I was on the edge of my seat!
"Case, if I black out you take the stick"
Right? Some Freudian shit! 😂❤
i had goosebumps 50% of this movie... insane...
Gotta love that score by Zimmer at 2:07 Sounded crazy in the IMAX!
この作品、何度見てもすごい!特に大好きなマッドデイモンが最高!
2:07 AMAZING. I seen this masterpiece at Sydney imax a few back. I can honestly say it bought a tear to my eye. One of my life regrets was not seeing this at the theatre.. Bucket list checked ❤
About a month ago I bought the Hamilton "Murph" watch in the limited edition Tesseract watch case. I had bought the Hamilton watch that Cooper showed when he talked to Murph before leaving Earth, soon after I saw this in the theater. Both watches are now housed in the Tesseract box case. I spent about $2,500 for this collection. Because...this...movie...changed me.
This scene was pure Kino
There are very few movies that have one of those moments. Truly chris nolan's direction is godly. His Oscar win wasn't just for Oppenheimer but for every movie he has directed.
(Top 3) if not the number 1 best movie ever made. Hard to find movies that give you that rush of euphoria with different emotions. This is one of those movies you can watch every couple of months and still have the emotions even when knowing what's going to happen ❤
What i love in this movie is that space has no sound. no ridiculous dramatic sounds in an empty void. That s realism. What is not realistic is they can come close in to the station just from below and then push it upwards into orbit. Thats not how orbital mechanics work.
Hence why the genre of the movie is classified as "Science Fiction"
Amazing movie. Never gets old
Simply phenomenal movie.
best scene ever
A masterpiece!
It was awesome at the theater and awesome at home after I got a copy of the dvd. Think I have watched the film at least 4 times.
Mate, I've seen it at least 30 times!
this is the best scene in the movie history music and the importance of the moment is beyong imaginable good.
Its unlikely, but i like the idea that Dr Mann didnt die straight away and was just floating watching them dock, thinking he massively screwed up
One of the most epic scenes in movie history
Great scene. Loved the details from the special effects, to the acting, to the soundtrack. I loved in this scene at 4:49 with Dr. Man yells "retro thrusters!" there is shot outside of the damaged station in this great shadowing and the star passes through the gaps like a blink and then almost sunrises in the shot. Mesmerizing
phenomenal
Doctor Mann *"There is a moment"* The airlock *"the moment"*
I'd tell my kids one day that I was fortunate enough to watch Interstellar on theatre❤
Fortunately, Matt Damon would survive this scene, only to get stuck on Mars the very next year.😆
