    • @@jasonmaguire7552Bruce Lee grew up as a teenager in 1950s Hong Kong which was a very rough and violent place especially in the kowloon area where he used to get in street fights all the time with gangs. His mother had to send him to live in the US because his street fighting was getting out of control. Trust me that man never posed.

  • I use 12 inch sticks with a 9.75 ~ 10 inch chain, wouldn't have it any other way. Easy to control as it allows for a less constricted, more natural, upper body posture.

  • Three links of chain makes the nunchaku faster and easier to control. When you add more links, it becomes more powerful, but slower and harder to control.

    @stephennordlinger365@stephennordlinger3654 жыл бұрын
    • Depends on the lenght of the links, thickness and the size of your palm. I prefer a leather cord. This is why I agree on "constructing" the weapon by yourself.

  • When I was 16 to 18 years old I lived with these in my inside coat pocket. My friends and I practiced these relentlessly and we're lightning fast we never held them at the end always up towards the chain much more control and way faster. I'm sorry to criticize but lots of what I'm seeing here seems wrong. Why go behind your back and catch it that's totally opening you up to attack and lack of control. Just my opinion. I practiced with martial art students and watched lots of Bruce Lee movies.

    @steventaylor2484@steventaylor24845 жыл бұрын
    • Steven Taylor In my Levi Jean and Corduroy Jackets, I had professionally sewn in pockets that held my Nunchaku firm and without rattling. Each stick had its own pocket about an inch and a half from each other. The very top where the chain or cord was, I could reach in and grab, pulling it out and into action very quickly. You could not tell that they were there, completely concealed from view. I carried them for many years and spent hours per day working with them. I also watched Bruce Lee in everything to learn, but I first learned Nunchaku exercises from Fumio Demura.

    • I agree 100% alway hold nearest the chain. Also he uses way to much wrists during his figure 8s. And I know me and any well practiced swinger we practiced changing hands behind the back but never in a real fight , he is showing this as a fighting technique.I have used them in real life and believe me I never ever would change hands and risk a fate drop.

    • How to embrace the pain? Just ignore the pain like how you ignore those people who hurts you, bullies you, embarrassed you. I always hit my arm, hand toe, waist, body, toes, head sometimes, eyes sometimes luckily I didn't get blind, the bony part of the bodies totally hurt but will be gone and it's like just nothing... Just say this when you hit yourself while training "embrace the pain" many time as you like while continuing your training 😅. I always hit myself when I practiced Bo staff then Chaku's

    • The nunchaku, or chain stick, was widely used in south east Asia as a rice and soy flail. However, it was first developed as a weapon in Okinawa, Japan, when Japanese warlords banned conventional weapons from the population. Okinawan kubudo developed using farming tools as weapons, alongside the development of karate, unarmed combat. The nunchaku is widely used in traditional karate, but not so much in the modern sport styles.

    • @@Al-zt9gl Yes correct & pretty much what I wrote in my 1st-Dan grading paper Warlords/Samurai cut your head off if found U with weapons so sometimes peasants hid them in bundles of firewood & Yes I trained old-school we had written exam before actual grading we had to know anatomy & draw in heart liver etc. & translate various techniques' from Japanese to eng & V-versa & NO protection except groin & mouth guards no eye throat or knee strikes, heavy contact otherwise OK but had control drummed into us = no-one had bad injuries Very different now-days Head gear etc. is literally a lifesaver PS Originally they used Horsehair to connect Nunchaku.
