  • Hey Will, another great video. There is definitely a massive improvement, but I always struggle with the figures provided from dyno testers ? amazing with 630 k on the clock, with the mods you would have spent some $ running a safe boost with age of motor ? unless this is second engine ? 105 would have flogged it before. I think I will install a 1HDFTE to my 105 one day, after watching this 👍

    • The FTE’s handle boost incredibly and can handle tonnes of power. They’re so different to the 1HZs or Nissan equivalent TD42s. The piston heads are thicker, 24 valve, factory turbo, everything is just build to handle a lot more power. Would love to put an FTE in my 105 too! Making the most of the 1hzt at the moment 😂

    • That’s just foot down in power mode. It’s a high-end turbo so it doesn’t even start spooling until 2000 revs. If you kick it in the guts it’s naturally gonna have an overly rich AFR. This doesn’t happen if you bring on the acceleration slowly or under normal driving conditions

    • To give you a ball park figure, the parts I described amounted to upwards of $10k, the labour and any extras very much depend on the condition of the vehicle and what you’re looking at specifically. There were some surprise extras we required here like a new radiator, condensor, flywheel, few things like that on a vehicle that’s done 630XXXkm

    @ricwilliams2876@ricwilliams28762 жыл бұрын
    • Well looking at the dyno sheet now, the torque curve is on the downhill after 2400 revs, and peak power is around 2900. So there’s no need to accelerate past 3,000 revs. Diesels are also designed to be low revving engine. They work with big torque and there’s no need for it to be screaming

    • @@nicoboshoff yeah no worries mate. Would have shed light on the issue if I could have. Bit of a different video because I wasn’t actually doing the work for once! 😂 Looms seem to be the one thing that does wear out on these. I had the bosses 100 series sit at work for months and months because it was in limp mode- just a fault MAP sensor wire!

      @WillsLandcruiser@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
    • @@WillsLandcruiser And did they end up replacing or repairing the sensor wire? The injector system expert I used suggested that you have to repair because looms are virtually impossible to find for those older models. • if you want to accelerate FAST, you need to rev till the end of the rom range. this is probably not below 4000 rpm. whatever people on the net call it, most have no clue, it is the WHEEL TORQUE that let's you accelerate. not engine torque! so it is times diff + times gearing. = the lower gear will always accelerate faster, even if the engine @ higher rpm has lower torque.

    • Putting an engine under a lot of load really fast like we did here in these videos is always going to cause soot when you have a large amount of fuel and a big turbo with a fair delay in spool time. The soot has nothing to do with the tune, and everything to do with how we were driving it. Fact. In daily driving there isn’t a hint of soot in sight
