Boxers are good with kids and loyal too. Not always the smartest dog but very sweet.
Boxers are very intelligent. In fact some are police dogs. They're just harder to train because they are stubborn. That's why German shepherds are used. Not because they're smarter but because they are easier to train.
@@williammarx9088 i wasn’t talking so much about compliance but more problem solving skills. I play treat finding games with my lab and boxer and they both try hard but the labrador gets the treat 9 times out of 10. Also, it’s not a slight nor an indictment on boxers nor did I say they were the least intelligent. Some dogs are just smarter than others. Both of these dogs would get crushed in a problem solving and speed competition by a Border Collie hands down. 🤷🏻♂️

That’s how me and my younger brother felt with our first ever family dog that we got when I was 8 and my brother was 6. We’ve been having a dog ever since (only one since we live in a small house)

I am 72 years old and watching this reminds me of my dog. She was 2 years old when my parents had me. My parents let her sniff me when I came home and she became my protector and buddy. She passed away at 16 years of age and I still miss her even though I have had other dogs in my life A bond like this is for life and beyond.
That's so sweet. I'm 25 and lost my dog 4 years ago and still miss him so much.
I had a nanny dog when I was a runt. Mom tried rehoming her when we had to move. She busted through my grandma's and was waiting at the old house when we came back for a load. It was some 20-30 miles away. Her passing messed me up for like 3 years.
My parents got a black lab puppy when I was 2 years old, name was Bingo. He was by my side for most of my childhood and died after contracting distemper. He would be waiting at the bus stop every time I got off the bus, he timed me. He used to go walk the other kids home if I was sick. Best dog ever.
Hi Carol, absolutely agree. Having an animal as a baby, teaches that child empathy, affection and strangely for a baby relationships all at an early age. Ive noticed children bought up around animals generally grow up to be good people. How many times have we heard about children killing animals then growing up as adults with no empathy whatsoever. I remember all of my dogs nearly everyday and its funny grieving for a human is different than grieving for a n old canine friend.

The recorded steps weren't his first, his first steps weren't recorded because they probably weren't filming at the time, but they did film an example of him walking to the boxer.

My dad grew up with a Boxer, and when he was a toddler he apparently crawled towards the fireplace whilst it was on during a family gathering at Christmas. When my grandparents looked back over at him, the Boxer had laid over my dad before he got too close to the fireplace, and had singed the hairs on her back a bit keeping him safe. They're incredibly loyal dogs, I'm glad Luca got to experience that level of care so early on from a pet. It'll set him up for good!
*It amazed me just how much the dog calmed itself down in order to be around the baby. They're so smart!*
That's boxers honestly. After having five they have an innate sense on how much to adjust their play etc with how small the child is.

@@Ducktility Dogs aren’t bred for food, over thousands of years they have been bred to serve and for companionship. Other animals like pigs cows and chickens have been bred for this sort of stuff, which is why i wont eat dog.

I rescued a boxer when my daughter was 3 yrs old. He protected her, loved her and played with her throughout his life. She and I will never forget our “Buddy”. Luca is blessed to have Vido. 💕💕
I've seen it so many times, I am truly beginning to wonder which way the meaning of 'rescue' goes. These floofs have been there, so many times, just when I needed them. They rescue us.
I absolutely love love love this. They have a unique relationship but Vito has great masters who trained and loved him so much, Vito passed that love to Luca.

Boxers are great, owned many over my many years. Very intelligent pups, and easy to train some times. Hard headed stubborn. Very loving friendly dog. Boxers love being a very part of the family plus can be very protective for younger children. Very playful all the time, lots of energy all the time. I have a beautiful female now and she is just a great buddy to me. The boxer has that majestic look on their face. Too state they are superior. Just a facial look. 😊
Never had a boxer, but I do know they're extremely family oriented.

I think when he met Luca for the first time he was excited because he got a new play buddy.... He didn't realize it would take 3 years before it happened but now he's really happy. 😂😊❤️

First steps! What a milestone…and straight to his best friend! Makes sense to me… who could resist those puppy dog eyes? Babies and dogs are experts at giving unconditional love! These two will be lifelong friends!
When the boxer was letting the baby play and then taking the toy away, the intention is clear. "You're supposed to chase me!" He was tryin to help the baby learn to walk.

@@craftedskiller I've had 2 dogs within 1 year pass away suddenly. It's more heartbreaking than when a human family member dies. I seriously question if I'd want another 1 so don't have to keep going through that every 10 years or so.
Kurgan, my 2 y/o Cane Corso, is obsessed with our 8 month-old son, always checking on him and making sure he's safe. Although they're never together unsupervised, when they're in the same room, Kurgan has to be right next to him. He knows that he's part of the pack and like any other "pup" he has to be loved and cared for.
My wife and I brought our twins home where we had a 1 yr old yellow lab. The dog and our kids grew up together and the bond between them was amazing. I have 14+ years of amazing pictures and videos of them growing up together. If you have small kids, don’t miss the opportunity to bring a sweet dog into the family. The memories are priceless.
Boxers are the sweetest dogs, they love everyone so enthusiastically. They are so smart too.
My siblings and I grew up alongside our beloved Boxer, Mike. He would accompany us along deer trails through the woods and snuggle with us in front of the TV. When we came home after school, Mike always greeted us with love and joy. Boxers are fabulous family dogs!

I have been using this beautiful post for the room computer screens for the Wake up call at 7 am in the Nursing Home I live in! My friend’s with Alzheimer’s sit in the TV room and point to the screen! These 2 lovely Buddies keep them happy and relaxed all day! One of our friends suffers from Violent Dementia, this has helped him calm down! Wonderful! Thank you!

@Vero E They can be spiritually like brothers. Obviously, they are not biologically. They may be different species but that does not mean that they cannot be devoted to each other. Perhaps you didn’t notice the love between the two of them. It was really apparent to me. It warmed my heart.

Every kid should have a dog sibling.
My first words were to one of our dogs. I grew up around large breed dogs and was always comfortable with them and I was told they were introduced to me at a very young age. I had not spoken a single word and then one day sitting on a picnic blanket I said my first word ever, a sentence no less!! *"Come me pot"* .... the dog's name was "Spot" and I couldn't say the "S" but the rest was quite clear! I always think of that story when I think of that bond between infants, young children and dogs! _Thank you once again to THE DODO for bringing back happy memories!_ EDIT before I get snarky replies no, I was not asking for a marijuana. This is a story of Innocence, not drug-seeking.

Boxers are the best family members!!! I grew up with 2. Losing the first one was soooo hard, she was my Momma’s first baby and the best “babysitter “ with us. She always had our backs made sure we were safe.
The biggest thing I got from this video is how good dogs can be if you give them what they need. Love, structure, attention fun, good food walks. Too many people write off a dog that is not behaving to their standard but many times they’re not taking care of them properly and the dogs will act out, if not given basic needs. This dog is obviously very well taken care of, and loved, and it shows in his actions.

Boxers are definitely child oriented. My niece was given a surprise boxer puppy for Christmas. All the adults were scattered around and the kids were all playing together. When they led him down the hallway, he bee-lined to the kids. He was such a gentle soul. RIP, sweetie. Vito, you are the best big brother!

@@deathrager2404 Source of that statistic and is its claim that 50% of family dogs will bite the kids in the family under 12 and to what degree of damage because a bite can by accidental such as while the dog and kid are playing or a simple nip with little or no skin break? Not all bites are done out of aggression nor do all bites cause major damage. While kids are most likely to be a victim of a dog bites I think the nature of each incident will vary widely.
I love this! My daughter was raised by our Great Pyrenees in a very similar way. She learned to walk by holding onto Alex who walked very slowly so baby wouldn’t fall. ❤

Vito considered that little boy HIS baby to protect and cherish, from the moment of hearing that heartbeat in Mom's tummy. Dogs love their families so much, they rarely get jealous of a baby and take on an extra protective mode. I remember our dog sneaking into my brother's room, and shutting the door behind her so we wouldn't see her, to sleep under his crib. 🥰

Vito is teaching Luca something VERY valuable in life, it's how to love and treat animals (especially dogs) with love, respect and compassion. My parents bought me a dog for my 1st birthday, she was my best friend for 15yrs. We did everything together, being with her were some of the best times of my life. It's been almost 24 years since she's passed, but I see a bit of her in every dog I meet. Dogs are THE BEST!!!!!
I grew up with dogs and cats my entire life. At times we even had chickens, horses, goats, turkeys... I grew up in a petting zoo, or farm, which ever way you prefer. It teaches you ALL life is precious.

So true! I think what they learn from having a pet as a family member makes them better people from childhood on.
I will never forget bringing our oldest child home to our Boxer. From that moment on the dog decided that her job in life was to protect that child! Which she did for all of our children till the day she died. She adored the family above all else, and was incredibly gentle with them no matter what they did to her.

My buddy had an incredible Boxer for 11 years
I always say that a dog can be of any breed, as long as it is a boxer.
My 4 yr old boxer karma is definitely like a kid..she was the only dog in a house where the 2 legged kids were adults.. we got her as a dog to guard the inside of our house , needless to say she doesn't have a ferocious bone in her body. So we got a pittie puppy to guard the house ,the farm and her big non ferocious sister 😆...the boxer literally tells on the pittie every time she does something that is not permitted (especially pooping in the house) ...she makes sure I don't forget to take them out to the bathroom ON TIME or feed them before I leave the house for work...sge takes being the big sister seriously 😆. I never met a dog with so much personality...

If you're boxer thinks you're being threatened it will live up to its name and make sure who ever is threatening you knows it. And then it will go right back to being a big goofball. Boxers are awesome that way.

What a transformation of their pup Vito, when his little brother came home and throughout the baby’s development. Vito became a very responsible guardian angel to Luca. Kudos to mom and dad on preparing Vito with love and respect. Great job all! BTW, Luca is a beautiful and sweet little boy!

Luca is such an adorable little baby, and Vito definitely adores him and its reciprocal. Luca's first steps being to his beloved Vito was really beautiful, to see him hugging his canine big brother was just so very lovely. This reminds me of my Great Niece. The home health nurse was a little concerned because she hadn't giggled or laughed yet but, it was still too early to diagnose her with Autism. So the nurse told my Niece that she & her Husband should engage her more to get her to laugh. It didn't work, at all. One day the three of them were on the front lawn of the In-Laws' house getting ready to leave when they heard these huge belly laughs. All four of them turned to see the In-Laws' 2 tremendous German Shepherds running in circles around my little bitty Great Niece. Instead of being scared, she was laughing hysterically & clapping. She was just under 2 years old.
My daughter had a Boxer. Greatest dog in the world.
