AllWheelBoost yeah it does sound better, i heard its because of some new laws to make the car more environmentally friendly. Its the same case with other new cars like the C63s, Audi RS6, etc.... but for some reason in Saudi Arabia they dont give a shit about that lad and the cars still sound amazing over there lol
yeah because since september 2018 cars MUST have an opf (otto particle filter) which kills the sound

Finally someone doing a awesome video of the G wagon and New generation G wagon. I have a 2017 G wagon I bought new and love it. Tired of reviews that give the last generation bad marks for being "old" and unrelevant. 2 thumbs up!
If we're talking pure value. Then of course the old one is better. It's never wise to buy the new version of anything unless you just have boatloads of money to blow.

But That’s why people buy G-wagon in the first place. Any car is no good investment, let alone new a G-Wagon that will lose value quickly. At the end of the day, it’s a status statement. People buy it to show that they can withstand the loss just to show how ballin they are.

If you bought a 2018 g63 with options at msrp in 2018 for $160-180k, then that same g wagon would be selling now with 20-30k miles for $220-230k on the used market. At least $40k in profit and driving it for free for 3 years not accounting for inflation.
@@seanl764 this covid situation has everyone and their panties upside down. A buddy of mine bought the new S class for 130k. Immediately after driving it for a few weeks it is now worth 135k. The chip shortage is what’s making the used market insane. Otherwise, that new Gwagon would’ve been ~$135-150k (used ‘19-21’ models.

I love your cinematics so much, I want to also get a camera like this but not sure what to get, GH5 or Sony A7III.. But I’m pretty sure that both could do around the same with a stabilizer and some good effects in Adobe, right?
@Biko Tracks Thanks man! So I shoot on the GH5S and it’s great, but there’s a learning curve. Sony’s have overall better autofocus systems and I would recommend them as well. Some of my in-car shots are actually done with Sony RX0 II’s. And yes, I do edit in Adobe Premiere. You got some good beats!

I got the 2016 amg g63 ... magno night black / blacked out /tune /muffler delete brabus front end ... sounds like a black hawk is coming or a tank or the cartel 😂 heaps new ones around here in the city they pop and bang but are not as menacing and don’t stand out as much as the classic ..unless it’s a brabus 19/20.. not just saying this cause I got the earlier one I was going buy the new one ... cartel = classic/ hairdresser =new the 5.5 is the go even if it’s less tech 💪🏼one but much love for all amg 💪🏼

In my opinion, I love the old one. The new one doesn't have much character and is just like the other Mercedes. Now looking at the leaks of the new EQG, it completely takes out the point of a G-Wagen. I know it sounds ridiculous, but the G-Wagen wasn't meant to be a luxurious vehicle. Yes, I know, shocker. Or rather- its purpose is a military vehicle that happens to have leather and heated seats BECAUSE it's Mercedes. But, I believe that when you buy something, you're paying for the product. The golden years of 2015-2018 of the Mercedes AMG G63 will be forever missed because what was provided was a characterful driving experience. Now, the new G-Wagens have sacrificed what made a G-Wagen, a G-Wagen in order to be modern, traditional, up-to-date, and luxurious, fitting the standards of a new vehicle. This is a common theme in the car industry but specifically in Mercedes. Take a look at the new S-Class/S-Class Maybach. The generation before 2021 was perfect; it was luxurious and timeless, and the focus was on the woods that were used, craftsmanship, and the person in the backseat, a true German luxury limousine. But now in 2021, Mercedes came out with a new model. While it's not awful, you can tell that the things that made the S-Class; the classic german limousine, has been sacrificed for technological reasons. It's just tech now, not necessarily a German luxury limousine like it used to be. I get it though, as changes need to be made but the problem is that models that were uniquely their own things such as the S-Class and the G-Wagen have now been sacrificed for the modern and new world. The point is, that the old G-Wagen is better because it has an actual driving experience that is unique. Where this car industry is going to land is that everyone's going to realize how all of the brands like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc have lost who they are in order to new and up-to-date. But brands like Maserati or even if we're talking higher-end like Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari and etc have kept who they were from day one.

Here in Vegas the new ones are going for a minimum of $75,000 dollars over sticker!!!! It’s a bit hard to justify nearly 2Xs more for the new one.
If youre in the market, id pick up a slightly used 2019, that is what i will be doing in a few years when they are depreciated a little more. Big value over new one!

Alright I’m here. Late, my apologies. Man, honestly the comparison visually both look so much different. It’s crazy how far the much needed redesign has come Rainy day, good day. 563hp is a lot more than I thought it had. Thank you genius guy. This car is pretty dope. Yes the ride is terrible and it’s so hard to turn the wheel lol AMG loves their exhausts! Turbo lag is detrimental to V motors these days. And yeah I remember the G63s gearbox lag when I drove them. It was strange. That shifter was just blegh Oh yes our favorite resident race car driver Honestly it’s not that bad. Wow! Doesn’t sound that extreme though. Just sounds lowkey. Did it just drop 3,000 rpm from 5-6th? Yeah I’ve seen supercharged versions of the G63 tht go 200mph. It’s scary Yeah the new G63 sounds a bit better. Better tuned exhaust They had to go with the 4.0L because of regulations in Coronavirus land (I’m sorry I couldn’t resist). More boost is why it has more power. And yeah the gearbox is STILL SLOW I know the struggle. Steering is much easier, all independent suspension no solid axles anymore. Love the interior. Looks better to drive. And yeah I agree with the crammed aspect. And yes all the accents are very well made, lots of options for customization. Yes much better ride for sure. Moonroof yes. Definitely the daily Lol Sean is still in his break in period Yeah the new G wagon looks so aggressive. I love how curvy it is. That’s nice. Old G wagon for nostalgia. You should go for it if your heart is in it Sean. By the way, make sure you don’t leave the lights set to parking lights for too long in the G wagon. It’ll kill the car 😂 Nice video. Wish we could’ve seen the new G63 go fast but it’s all good. It is your car after all Sean. I really think the redesign was well past due. The car just looked old and didn’t really fit in with all the newer cars. This redesign kept it classy but made it up to date with all the other cars. I’m a big fan of it. And I’m also glad they kept the side exit exhausts. They have giant mufflers to do that though. It’s pretty crazy.
Hey bro, no worries. Better late than never as I always say. Most cars redesign themselves every 5-10 years. It’s just amazing that the G-Wagon lasted 30 years without a complete overhaul. Rainy days suck for filming. The fog is actually really dope. 563 to 577 doesn’t sound like a big jump but with the new turbo and tech, it’s a world of a difference performance wise. The lag in the gearbox is just as bad as the one in my Z06 and that’s really saying something. The reason why the acceleration run doesn’t sound extreme is because we had all the mics inside the car. Usually we put one on the outside by the exhaust but the problem with the G63 is that the exhausts are side exit, so wind noise would cancel it all out after 30MPH. It’ll be the same problem in the new G63 acceleration video with the exhaust note. But we’ll get some outside shots too this time. Gonna have a content break for a few weeks. Gotta make sure I have enough videos ready to go.
Track Day gotcha. Yeah it lasted for a while and that new turbo tech really makes a difference for sure. Kinda sucks the exhaust can’t be recorded directly. Might need to put a makeshift wind blocker in front of where the exhaust is, then mount the mic behind it. Just an idea And yeah man sounds good. See you in 9 years 😂 Also I have some good news. Nice video but there is one little mistake you made 5:22 😬 The car doesnt do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, it does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. I think, because that’s what everyone says/shows who tested it. I would say; test the car and see for yourself!

my dad has the old one but idk your car says 180 but for my dad it says 280
New one sucks.. Especially the exterior.. The front - hood, side panels are way longer & looks out of promotion.. Nose job gone wrong.. Plus they made it slimmer & is no longer a box..
Thats what I didn't like about the MB. I once had a GL550, their transmissions are slow, especially their manual paddles.
They are detuned from factory is just solenoid upgrades and u will shifting faster

If you own a G63, chances are you have some extra cash to blow away and you won't mind an upgrade even you are not getting your money's worth.
Question is that is the 2020 worth the premium over the 2016? $70-90K vs $140k msrp for the 2020 which we know mercedes depreciate hard. I dont care how much money i have , Ill wait , the price difference of a 4 year difference car being about $60k is a bit much and will lower over a year or so. Then again, 70% of mercedes are leased. no wonder why.

Owned a 15 G wagon and test drove the new one. 100% worth it. They are two completely different beasts. The 2020 makes it a true luxury SUV rather than just a flash status symbol.
I dont know why people don’t accept that the new one is better, it’s the better looking and the better performance and 100 times luxurious interior than the old one and yeah it also stronger, faster and sounds better like a Lion ROAR 🦁 the new one is definitely the king.
The new one in my opinion looks not as intimidating as the old one because I’m the new one you see it and think social media influencer, celebrity or crypto mogul… with the first generation g wagon you think “oh shit am I late on my payments” to any Eastern European mafioso or when you see 4 identical ones with red and blue lights on the front you know someone very powerful like a dictator is in the Maybach in the middle!
