  • There are so many areas you could have shaved a ton of money off. 7k for a gte out of an aristo AND 2k to rebuild it? Bro go pull a junkyard GE for $500, rebuild it and put a single turbo kit on it…

    @kohlmannn@kohlmannn6 ай бұрын
    • They retail for that. And the $2k adds up: Gasket Kit, water and oil pump, vvti new gear, crank sensor, timing tensioner, idler pulley, timing and accessory belts. New alternator, new AC compressor I mean adds bro. And agree you can shortcut lots of this and still get it running. 👍

Go use that full amount and buy car that has factory setup that you want....

  • Your closing comments were interesting and not expected. I want to build one of these but I’m worried that the outcome is not worth the cost. I think the journey would be super fun but it’s also fun to buy a Porsche 911 and enjoy that. Now I’m torn! Lol.

    • It all comes down to the cost:reward ratio. The "for the same money" thing falls flat when you factor in the total reward of the experience of doing this yourself.

    @KBMOTORSchannel@KBMOTORSchannelАй бұрын
  • 7:15 while you have a point about mass-produced/stock vehicles being more reliable than a build like this, it's important to note that the Toyota engine is also mass-produced and unless it's built with aftermarket internals/parts, we can expect oem-like longevity and reliability if the torque is kept in check with that turbo. Same with the transmission. While resale value on a build like this is poor compared to a stock car, you've created a very unique experience of a car that is much harder to come by than an M3 or 911 and even if it's objectively not as good of an experience owning/driving/maintainig the car, the specialness makes it invaluable in many ways.

Leaving it at 40-50k, as long as its fairly reliabile, the build is amazing man, and i certainly would look at it with happiness and not regret.
