How Synagogue Hostages Escaped After 11-Hour Standoff

A brave rabbi threw a chair at a terrorist who was holding him and members of his congregation hostage at their Texas synagogue in what turned out to be an 11-hour standoff with authorities. Malik Faisal Akram, 44, made his way into the Congregation Beth Israel and took three hostages. Rabbi Charlie Citron-Walker tells Inside Edition that he made sure the two other hostages with him were ready to go when he threw a chair at the gunman and they all made a break for the nearest exit door.
I'd known about normal people denied entry to the US for petty issues. How is it possible that someone like him managed to get in legally via flight is beyond me.

My godfather traveled the world and he's a retired college philosophy teacher, but he can't go to the US. He stole some school book to resale them in his 20s. Lol I keep telling him to apply s different way since an exception can be made, but he refuses to beg to be led in. I love him. I personally tease him that he might be on a watch list since he's a big yellow jacket supporter.
Oh yeah my 2 aunts from Mexico were denied Visas 2 times because they had a 6 siblings already in the US.

Mental Health is not an excuse for his behavior. Many, many people have severe mental illness and very rarely do they do violent things.
Yeah, but he mainly did it because of Lady Al-Qaeda. If she was sentenced in prison for 86 years, and he wanted her out, taking people hostage would probably be the only way to get her out, even though it fails most of the time. It's sad how people go to the extremes to get what they want.

i’m just glad they were able to get away safely.
I'm glad that they thought of a way out and were able to tell their story. No one should have to deal with this on a daily to monthly or yearly basis. NO ONE.

Kudos to the Rabbi for maintaining a sense of calm and logical thinking which allowed him to survive while also saving the lives of others.
