Anna forked him with a check, she could take his rook, but chose for the pon instead....and looked at Snurrre's face at that moment. Wondering if he actually saw that or not. So she makes a second forked on the other side with a check....again Anna didn't take the rook and I thought...oh Anna doesn't want to hurt him to much, but I was wrong! • He is definitely a complete beginner that had no idea how strong Anna was! I'm nowhere near as good as Anna is and I knew he was playing complete rookie moves! But she had the right attitude to keep him interested in playing chess, winning graciously is a good skill that I think comes naturally to her

  • Over forty years ago I played a similar game, but with black, against a guy named Victor Tudisco. After I chased his queen around for the fourth move in succession he let out an audible groan. After I beat him he refused to shake hands and stormed off. The thought of it still amuses me to this day. I still have the score sheet.

    • @@sitbone3 thanks! I was more referring to the fact that she made it to an endgame with Magnus, but that her current opponent probably doesn't know what an endgame is because he always gets mated first.

  • You were more than generous in telling him that he was playing well. It's like in poker where the saying is, "Don't tap on the glass." Don't disturb the fish. Until you crush them.

  • That's what I used to do as a kid. Get my queen out early and tour the board taking all my opponents pieces 🤣. I'm not an advanced player but I always liked doing that. I'm not much good at chess now but would like to get better
