Oh my, I felt the tension a few days ago & here we are. Shabani was pissed😮 Kiyo 💩 himself, Nene barking as usual. Looks like Ai was staying out of it. Pretty girl supporting her dad as always 💜 I suppose it's a waste of time thinking anything will change & that makes me sad. Shabani you are the best.😉 Thank you for sharing.🍷

I think both brothers in this troop are old enough to go to a bachelor group headed by a non related silverback to learn what it really means to be a grownup gorilla.

Would be good to see Kiyo and Gentaro start or join a male group, or find them “wives”. But Annie has to find a new group too or her father will mate with her eventually. 😬

@@shawnduguay6007it's not Shabani who's acting out, he is the Alpha and Kiyo continues to test him! Shabani is very loving and playful and the troop especially his son takes advantage of that! And if you watch the Hoako troop, Hoaka gets chased by the troop also when he gets after one of the members
Kiyomasa didn’t appear to be drumming at Shabani. Moreover, Kiyomasa WAS being docile and submissive when Shabani was grooming him - then when Kiyo mildly objected, Shabani lost his temper. I agree that sometimes Kiyo tests the limits - for example, being first in line every single time, and scooping up all the Italian rye grass leaving none for Shabani and the others. I’d like to see Shabani assert himself when Kiyomasa is actually being inappropriate rather than during their leisure time when it seems unwarranted.

Aw poor kioyomasa shabani the great doesn’t usually lose his temper like that.
Tensions were high and Kiyo saw some big chompers comin his way. I think it was just a knee jerk reaction.
I know it's been happening for a while now but it is weird to see Shabani be so aggressive towards Kiyo.

They have nowhere to house the black backs. They have had 10 yrs to plan their exits & nothing is done. Shame on Japan. It makes me so 😢
I wonder if the gorillas suffer more anxiety and have put bursts more because they are contained in a zoo or environment where they are constantly watched, instead of in a jungle where they belong. Look at all they do all day n in a very small enclosure. Nothing but be watched for our amusement m. How horrible we do this . And they constantly get laughed at and pointed at. This is abuse as I see it. How humiliating for these beautiful tortured giants. And people think this is ok and cute. I don’t need to see gorillas like this. I’d rather know they were in their own natural environment. That’s where they live and can be gorillas, not like this , for show. Makes me very sad and people are laughing at them .
I don’t agree with you and yet I understand your thought process. We become more empathetic to wildlife when we see animals in a zoo. As a personal example, I saw a rehab center for elephants. This made me pay more attention to their plight in Africa regarding droughts and trophy hunters. I now donate money to help support the elephants. Zoos help bring awareness of animals we may never see in a native situation. It is sad for the animals in a zoo, but I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
I learned way too late in life that others will gleefully step all over you if you let them. Good for you, Shabani.

The thing here is simple: Shabani bit Kiyo a bit to hard during grooming, Kiyo reacted in anger and Shabani didn't like that. Maybe Kiyo is now to old for that father-son playing/cuddling and it's time for separation.

Kiyomasa doesn’t respect Shabani enough. Kiyomasa is too self confident. Shabani is very good father and leader of the troop but attacking Nene for no reason was too much. Nene is too old for this.
He didn’t attack Nene for reasons. Nene always go after Shabani and he knows so he was proactive and no taking Nene or Ai s*it . He has been so nice and kiyo takes advantage of him with Nene back.

All silverbacks run like that. It is to give the others time to cool off. But you will notice when shabani stops running, she immediately stops and shuts up. Because if she doesn't, she will get bit. She isn't the alpha, at this point I don't think she is even the dominant female anymore.

Silverbacks run away to prevent any injuries to the others. They are powerful enough to kill the others easily so run away to stop any escalation after handing out discipline.

“I’m going to get you and your little mama too!” Poor Nene. Shabani is really such a bully to her. One of these days her son will put a stop to it. I like Shabani though. I think it’s amazing how he raised Annie and I think he has been I love him dad to his son as well. His playfulness has rubbed off on the kids. I think that especially with males it’s important to have this playfulness. I feel like it can really be the difference between a silverback being part of the family or feeling lonely and separated. That’s just my opinion, but I stand firm on Nene not being able to catch a break. 😂 she’s a trooper though.

@@stevemorris6790 I’m sorry you feel like I was attacking Shabani. He is an exceptional Silverback. Considering Kiyomasa’s age and size, it’s impressive how Shabani maintains a good balance of authority and love. There just aren’t any words for what he did with Annie. Still, the fact remains, he is going to make sure that Nene gets her steps in. It’s a fact that Shabani randomly hits and runs on others hoping they will chase him. When he met Nene and Ai, Ai was young and so was he. Nene probably treated him more like a son and chased him like a mother would chase a son to protect a younger sibling. He probably never grew out of that as that was the dynamic in the beginning. Plus, she was probably the only one who would chase him. Even now the others start chasing him because she starts chasing him. So in a nutshell, since they met, Nene has been Shabani’s ‘go to’ if he wants to be chased and no gorilla chases him the way Nene chases him. Now that said, she’s a 50+ year old grandmother with no teeth and can hardly walk, she’s not as quick to chase him. Still, she’s his ‘go to’ and he will continue to mess with her until he gets a rise out of her.

Мне кажется, зоопарк ждет, когда Шабани покалечит сына и только после этого будет предпринимать какие-нибудь шаги по отделению Кие из семьи. Если никаких вариантов для Кие нет, надо было его кастрировать, как делают в других зоопарках. В этом случае он мог навсегда остаться в семье.
Just because they are castrated doesn't mean they won't fight. They have found that out in other zoo's. The silverback still has the instinct to push them out of the group.

I worrie about shabani , I don't want him to have a heart attack, he's in a lot of stress , I heard his dad and one of his sisters died of heart attacks..😢😢😢
His dad had a heart attack 5 yrs ago but his only sister is at Taronga park zoo. Shabani is fit & healthy.

I’ve had a lot of time to think about stuff 😅😅,, Nene wasn’t born in a zoo was she,, Nene was caught from the wild ?? Okay in the wild by the age of 30 the silverback is replaced by a younger silverback about 22-26 years old. So maybe that’s why my grumpy old ladybug is trying to get a new leader/silverback!!! Now going back to the wild silverback and his troop. Only his true females will stay with him past the age of 30 mini will leave, but three or four will normally stay with him for the rest of his life because of their age also.
Nene wouldn't know that because in the wild she would have died a long time ago. In the wild she would only live to around 35.
nene has always wanted kiyo to be troop leader ever since kiyo was a youngster. she is still at this.
When you let your mom mate with you, she won't give it up to her husband but she will let her son.😮

Because there are 2 adult males in the same enclosure when there should be just one Kiyomassa is not supposed to still be in there at his age, you can't pull him out overnight but there needs to be a plan in place to slowly move him out of this group so he can start his own
I think they have taken AI off birth control....I hope Shabani will get the chance to breed her, before his son does. Shabani deserves more offspring!
@@SuperPondothey have said that ai has been off of birth control for years. But her estrus hasn't returned, so she won't be mating until it does.

It is interesting that Nene seems to side with Kioymasa. I wonder if it has to do with his younger age. She is not his mother. Kioymasa needs to stop testing Shabani. Shabani continues to have patience although it is wearing thin these days with Kioymasa antics.
Nene is Kiyomasa’s mother. She always protects him and has his entire life. She tries to act like she is the silverback.
@@sowhat7472 I keep getting the offspring mixed up. I thought Kioymasa's eas AI's son. I know Ai is also her daughter but by Rikki, who died. I also thought Ai had two kids. I guess I am wrong.

My belief is zoos need to be outlawed. This is a travesty animals kept in captivity like this so humans can observe and be entertained. You should be ashamed.
