  • You’re dead on for all of this. The corruption in the bidding process, the move to the winter (which should have killed Qatar’s bid from the very beginning), the slave labor, all of it. Well done, as always.

There was (and still is) Qatar Airways, one of the best airlines in the World. Plus they own a lot of stuff in Europe, like you said in the video. Its not weird that you americans haven't heard of it. Most of you haven't heard of France or Germany for example. Then, Al Jazeera is literally one of the most free press in the World, not just the middle east. It's more free then your own CNN my a country mile. Plus, now while the WC2022 is under way, it's proven to be one of the best WC ever to exist.

  • The fact that there was actual people who made Morocco a valid nominee let alone voted that said country over the US-Canada-Mexico for the 2026 host country shows how much FIFA as an organization hasn't changed one bit since the 2015 scandal. P.S: as an American, Australia was ROBBED of the 2022 bid and even Japan and Korea who had the chance to host that said world cup on their own. Just, IMAGINE the atmosphere in one of the stadiums in modern day Japan or even Korea alone during the nightlife, it would be like living in 3022 (to some extent despite that they had a world cup as joint hosts together but still).

    • It would be weird to allow any of these two countries (Japan and Korea) to host a second world cup in 20 years without a major mishap (like Colombian withdrawal from 1986, that allowed Mexico to host two tournaments with only 16 years gap). 32 years between world cups for the US is not really large as well, but that had already happened with Germany, who hosted 1974 and 2006.

  • Also, the World Cup was strategically timed when most of the world, especially the West, is on summer break from school and university and when everyone else takes their holiday. Now, the World Cup this year is dead in the middle of the fall/winter term and less people have the liberty of watching the matches during the day, thus causing live viewership to suffer as a good amount of the matches are during the morning rush hour or the middle of the school/work day (ET). But the entire region of the Middle East which includes countries like Saudi, UAE, Qatar,Bahrain & Kuwait were built by immigrant workers. Their whole infrastructures were built by Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and people hailing from African Nations. It’s not just this event; nah the whole country built by them. This Khafala system is prevalent in all the above said Arab countries. Since the World Cup gets enormous coverage, the plight of these workers came out. It’s been like this since the 70’s and nobody bats an eye then. These above said Arab countries also attract tourists during the Nov-December timeframe. Nobody gave a flying fuck for the workers then. It’s just sad too see the west coming to know these exploitarions now. The hypocrisy is maddening. The west only speaks about this when something as huge as World Cup happens.

People usually talk about war and terrorism when discussing the issues in the middle east (which is a real and disgusting problem, I'm not saying otherwise) but leave out all the sick corruption and slave labour. Thanks a ton, us silent protestors appreciate the fuck out of you guys

  • It's bullshit how FIFA have self appointed themselves in charge of football and now everyone has to change their league schedule to accommodate this winter world cup.

  • Totally off topic: you should do a "Clueless American's Guide to World Tour Cycling" or "to the Tour de France" (but it's finishing right now). I can help with that.

  • You have to have the cup in the winter in the hopes that it limits the energy and food crisis riots in europe and south america. Those should be hitting around december. You are right about the fifa corruption, too.

  • Honestly so far qatar world cup has been great. Plus also i love the big effort qatar has put in the world cup. They build world class stadiums. If the world cup went america they put less effort. Imagin playing world cup at some average looking stadium or nfl stadium NOPE.

  • I study in Germany, and I'm hearing the biggest moral dilemma about this. Football is a religion to Germans. But they are also very socially conscious and detest how Qatar treats their slaves-but-technically-not-slaves. It's a struggle.

  • Again, the critique in western countries is mainly motivated by hate towards that region and being able to accept that there is someone who can do better and different culture, that’s why we get uncomfortable and shout this kind of crap. In addition that’s no violation of human rights or bribes issued officially by any embassy or government has been proven, human rights is must be respected regardless of the difference in culture.

  • Let’s make it to where a country can’t host a World Cup until 12 years after another country in their confederation hosts it. Gives 2030 to: Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, but Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay can host one group stage game. 2034: Gives it to Saudi Arabia because it has to be in Asia 2038: The World Cup has to be in North America again

  • I am curious about ratings of this world cup. I know for a fact that I will watch less matches than I would have if it aired in the summer. Couple videos games I really want come out, I have college, NFL will play, this along with my full time job. Heck between college and work I will probably get only hour a day free time most of the week, and on my days off they will be spent doing school work
