Cocker spaniel meets cat

Do you believe in rescuing dogs waiting to be euthanized? It's easy to jump to assumptions but often doesn't paint a clear picture.

I support that the tail should not be clipped. I have a Cocker Spaniel, but the tail was cut off by the previous owner. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it, so it is not always the fault of the current owner. Luckily, docking was banned in my country a few years ago. My dog is 13 years old so someone did it legally at that time.

Cat = an amimal who could care less about humans. An animal who shits in a box and has zero social skills. Dog= an animal who is loyal and loves humans so much. An animal with great social skills and generally smart. A great companion and far more adorable than a cat.

That dog is still a puppy and quite excited. Trying to get the cat to play/chase it. I will take a barking dog over a growling dog any day. The dog wants to play!! My parents currently have a 10 year old springer spaniel who is on the quiet side until she starts to play. Sometimes she gets so rambunctious with our hound/collie mix that they get so loud that it almost sounds like they are being aggressive and attacking each other when all they are doing is rough housing. Who's to say that the guy's dog isn't quiet when it is relaxing and not in an extremely playful mood?

If spaniels are initially bred to be used as hunting dogs, it can be easier to have one with a docked tail. The first springer spaniel we had growing up was from a reputable breeder in our area who bred them for hunting so the tails were docked. We didn't use her for hunting but I'm still glad her tail was docked as it made it easier to keep her clean since she spent most days playing outside for the better part of the day and then came inside at night. I've seen springer spaniels with the full tail and would still prefer one with a docked tail, especially living out in the country and the potential critters for them to chase.
