Thanks for watching!
At first I thought the 12 hours bezel was a weird choice but the ability to turn the watch into a 12 hour Chrono is actually a very smart way to expand on the capabilities of this movement. Very good looking watch at a more than fair price! Kudos to the team!
Very useful without adding further complications to the movement. More than once i missed the ability to track two things at once.
Thank you.
yeah, glad i watched this video and that it was explained.
Bought a 236 the blue on blue from Mark in SF. Pictures don't do it justice in person! Similar foot print to my Tudor. Very nice. Great meeting you!
Gorgeous!!
thank you
Marc keeps hitting homeruns! Love the movement which I can stare at all day! Looks like another winner!
thanks so much!
Hey Marc. Long time follower here. At first glance on instagram i was disappointed to see you wasted an opportunity to make an only-30-minute chrono but now i am amazed by the fact (and the thought) that you went with a rotating bezel to make the watch basically a 12-hour chrono, and fixed my pet peeve 😅 If i could sell my Swiss Military diver, this piece might be my entry into Islander watches. Hats off sir 👏👏👏
Wow! They look awesome!👏
thanks!
Oooh!! This is very tempting! I love the chrono-use of the bezel! I've never thought, or heard, about using a 12hour bezel in such a way! Smart stuff!!
thanks so much!
Very cool, they all look *great*, congrats!
Looks nice Marc.....good work.....good to see Ur growth over the years
Beautiful! I really like that gold dial! Excellent!
it came out great! Just the right tinge of gold
The white is a winner! Blue second favorite for me. Great work!
Great looking! I like the blue but I think the white is my favorite. Well done Marc. Have a great day! 🙏🏼
Thank you, kindly.
Top of the game amazing stuff bro. Grrat designs you choose Marc
Using the bezel for the hour with the chronograph is awesome. This is a homerun Marc! Well done!
Great looking pieces.
appreciated.
Amazing deal
Another solid design! You guys made the gold work this time!
Totally agree.
Wow, I think this was a huge move for Islander. Congrats on this beautiful piece!!
thank you
Cracking watches, Marc; another great addition to the line. I wish I had more arms! With this one I would be tempted to wear the caseback on the outside...
Keep up the good work!
will do!
Hi Marc, last week i ordered the Islander Mitchel Automatic Field Watch with DLC Case and White Dial #ISL-189 and received it yesterday. I am more than pleased with it, it fits like a glove and am loving it to bits. I'm sure i order more watches from you. Love and respect from a fan living in Belgium. Keep up the great work!
Good job, Marc. You make me proud. 🇺🇸
As usual, Mark and the Islander Watches team have hit it over the fence, and this field is no short porch. I will be purchasing this one for sure! Love it!
That blue is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
very fire!
Very nice!
I dig the racing tie-in for the name. Great choice.
Glad you like it!
Those are some gorgeously chonky pieces. I want one! 😎
I always forget how beautiful this movement is. Speaking of beautiful. This piece is lovely. You can definitely see the inspiration behind each whilst also maintaining their originality. Well done sir 🫡
Thank you so much!
Awesome watches, and best customer service in the business!
Sweet, indeed
many thanks.
this is awesome! can’t wait for you to make a watch w/ slide rule bezel! my citizen skyhawk is too big, and i often can barely read my seiko flightmaster. yes i do use the slide rule.
Great stuff Marc always impressed by the rhythm of the releases. Superb value for money for sure, with improved identity would be even better. Hands down AWSOME work anyhow.🎉
Thanks for watching!
Gold dial watch is gorgeous.
Yeah, it came out good!
I’m not a fan of gold dials; I find the look too ostentatious, so I was very surprised at how tasteful it looked. I would go so far as to say it’s my favourite.
Those are sick
Good sick, I hope!
Great release Marc, I wish you all the best with it. Seagull movement makes sense - price of course - and if I were to pick one it would be the Panda
thanks
Well done! This has to be my favorite of all your watches. I have two Seagull chronographs and can attest to the movements durability for the price. The movements are inexpensive and can be found online for just under $100 to $200 range…I mention this because mechanical chronographs (especially Swiss movements) are expensive to repair. These can just be replaced when damaged. Bravo!👏👏
Nice stuff 🎉
These are gorgeous Mark! If you ever decide to make a matte black subdials on matte black dial with white hands, I’d be all over it!!!
These look nice! I like the functionality of the bezel.
thanks so much
Hi Marc, nice to see you getting into chronographs! Two things I would really like to see in the future: 1. Use the Seiko NE88. This movement does not get enough love. It is roughly the same price as a 7750, but has a lot more features. They are built to last too. 2. A pilot watch with the dial and hands lumed in such a way that you can use the chrono at night. Right now the only watch I am aware that does this is the Harhart ES 417 flyback reverse panda. It is the main reason I got the watch. I think there was a Hemel that used full lume, but I never got to try it. Even IWC and Laco can't seem to figure this out.
1. Blue on blue is best. (IMO) 2. So cool Islander is now tied into the 80 (?) year history of this fantastic movement.
thanks!!!!
Very nice designs.
Thank you! Cheers!
Man, you consistently make really nice watches.
thank you
❤wow nice 1 this is❤
I like the Pogue look
Awesome, thank you
Hey Marc...LOVE this piece❤️and just like my girl that thing is beautiful from the back⌚️✌️
LOL
@@islandwatch Thanks for everything you do🙏🫡I will buy an Islander one day!!!
Tasteful as usual & absolutely like the bezel. I've always advocated for this kind of "multi-purpose" bi-directional. The use of the famous Seagull movement is also interesting.
Thanks for sharing!
Very, very nice.
Much appreciated.
We need this one on jubilee option also! I think it may help boost them, but excellent watches! Love em :)
Well done Marc!👏maybe an automatic version in the future 🙏
That would be something.
Going to get one😊. Going to wear my abalone next week, have a matching Damascus combat folder to go with it, and a 2"megadalon tie tack with a gold octopus on it. Long Beach aquarium chamber night😊 Marc the watch was a big hit too. Thanks for the help with the band and my 9" wrist..........gorilla 🦍
I own one of your field watches and love the quality. I've always considered a 1963 but I'm not in love with the looks - would definitely consider something from you guys with this movement instead. More in line with my style.
A small critique of this and many Islanders: readability. I often think hands could be larger and have more contrast with the dial (is the reason I had to let go of my beloved Seafoam for example).
thank you
Agreed. White hands on white dial might be problematic.
I don't think you want larger hands on a chrono. Too much obstruction of the sub dials.
Marc, you are killing me and my wallet! I have a soft spot for mechanical chronographs and especially ones with a 12 hour bezel. Very hard to find. I am now patiently awaiting my black-dial version.
I'm a golden fan. 🎉
ISL-235 is my favorite too!
Love this offering, Marc! This is probably one of my favorite watches you’ve ever released. I haven’t watched the whole vid yet, but would you consider making a not-jubilee bracelet for this one?
Right now, this is the only bracelet. Not planning on others yet.
Nice! Been wanting to add another mechanical chronograph as I only have a Russian Strela currently. Have pondered their later Seagull version, but figured I'd go with another brand if it wasn't going to be the original movement.
thanks for checking it out.
Marc, Good looking set of watches! My vote is split between the Blue and the Pouge.
thank you, kindly
Love the black with the red hands on the subdials. Love the rallye strap. I'm not sure I trust the movement, but i trust Islander to stand behind the movement. This one is a little slab sided for me, but otherwise this is a sweetie. Oh yeah. And using the 12 hour bezel like that is very clever. Nice watch!
Nice !!
thank you.
Love the white dial version, and the ST1901 is a solid movement that's also beautiful to look at that I'd love to own. I imagine these will sell, that's a reasonable price too and from a solid vendor with excellent customer service. 👍
Thanks for the kind words.
Blue is my favourite
Congratulations. Ordering one for sure. What is the tapper on the bracelet? 20mm to 16mm?
I've been eyeing the Lorier Gemini for many months and have been holding out for their reported May "lottery" for the last batch of the current model. I've also been looking for a watch with a racing inspired dial. This release today was so serendipitous. I bought one right away when I got the text message announcing the release. Scratches both of my itches. Super cool.
awesome, hope you enjoy
Very nice Indeed, white and black are my favorite ones... When you said "hammer is cocked" I instantly thought about a pistol video I watched just before your video! 😂
Similar, right?
I got the text so I knew the video was coming. 😀. Those are excellent. White is always my favorite with a Chrono, but that golden bezel with the Pepsi inner track might beat it out. I’ve always been wary of this Seagull movement, but with Islander backing it, it might be the way to go. Thanks!
I appreciate that. Give it a shot!
I remember when Marc said he wouldn't use SEAGULL. Now, he has advanced his thinking. 🎉
These look great! Any chance Islander will do a more vintage/military style chronograph? Maybe something more along the lines of the Longines Avigation Big Eye chronograph or the Hamilton Intra-Matic?
Ive been reluctant to try seagul movements but if Marc trusts them enough to put one on his watch, ill have to try one out. Cheers!
good way to put it, thanks!
This is the first mechanical chronograph that I have decided to buy for my collection!
thank you!
Marc...off topic. Could there pretty please be a isl 157 reissue, or just another cool purple dial watch
Hi and thank you for the review! May I ask you what is the bracelet width from the top to the clasp?
Very nice addition to the Islander line up. Also learned that the "swan neck" ST19 isn't on all new movements, so both are available new.
Correct.
Looks like the Sea Gull movement. Nice.
It is!
Very nice looking watches and I really like the leather straps. I own 6 watches with this movement and so far have had no problems with them. I only wear them occasionally in rotation with my other watches so I think that helps. If you want an affordable mechanical chronograph this really is your only option.
Thanks for sharing!
Would love to see that Pogue color scheme on an auto or even a 7T92 meca-quartz. And maybe 41 or 42mm? It looks great here (as do the others), but although that ST is nice to look at I just can’t bring myself to go with a non-hacking movement. Good luck with it Marc!
That would be cool!
Just got another watch with the st19. It’s been very accurate. I just can’t find how many turns to wind fully. It’s a bit difficult with the 2 pushers in the way. BTW I have the swan neck and never realized how tiny the screw is to regulate it.
I’m really thrilled for the brand to be using this ST1901 movement. I have one in my collection and it’s great. I’ve got it to within a second or two a day. As a hobbyist watchmaker, I’ve been looking for ST1901 movements to repair, but I have not seen many - if any. That’s a good indicator. I’d by curious to see an Islander design without a bezel and a 38 or 39mm case with a more compact lug tot lug distance…a dress chrono?
Thanks so much, and you never know what is coming :)
Looks awesome! I remember a video from a few years where Marc disparaged the ST19 for not being reliable. Seems like the tables have turn when there was an opportunity to make a few bucks using a cheap “unreliable” Chinese chronograph. Great choice.
Yes, you are correct. For these models, we get the best movements we could get, and checked them numerous times. So I am confident they will live up to what people expect from the brand.
I own 6 watches with this movement and if handled gently will give you years of use. This movement looks beautiful but it is not very robust. As such, it should not be used as a daily wearer and you do not want to be constantly winding it and using the chronograph function. But if you wear it occasionally and treat it gently, it should last you for years. Mine have.
Very nice! Can't decide if I prefer the black or the white... Very competitive price for a mechanical chrono and good decision I think to go with a 12 hour bezel for extra functionality. The movement looks great through the exhibition caseback - don't understand why some brands that use this movement don't show it off with a exhibition caseback - guess maybe it allows them to shave a little off the height/thickness of the watch?
Yes, just a bit is all it saves, but it's so nice to admire
I was hoping you could use the Seiko mechanical chronograph like Pitzman but improve the anesthetics. I have the Sea hyphon Gull 62 and many mecca quartz chronos but looking for a different chrono that is cheaper than Swiss
Thanks Steve
Just a question, certainly not meant as a criticism, but why no one the fly micro adjustment on the bracelets? I own one of your bracelets for my King Samurai and it’s a bloody good bracelet but would be even better with on the fly adjust. Are they super cost-prohibitive? Great designs as I mentioned on your instagram post!
Nice, how about a big eye or type 20 chrono? I think the sub dials are just a bit small for the 40, look same size as OG 38mm.
sky is the limit from here.
The white dial Panda looks especially good on the leather strap.
thank you, it sure does.
Not a request but more a curiosity, will we ever see an all gold plated watch (like whatever method Tissot issues for the gold prx) and bracelet?
The Roslyn has an all rose-gold plated watch
Ordered a white dial. Your timing couldn't be better as I've been looking to add a white dial for a while.
perfect, thank you
weird, few days ago KZhead showed me one of your old videos explaining this movement, with and without swan neck. now you released a new product with that movement. KZhead was hinting the future😅.
Somebody's watching you
@@islandwatch 👀😱
No addressing of previous comments on Seagull movement?
I was expecting something too.
Which are?
For these models, we get the best movements we could get, and checked them numerous times. So I am confident they will live up to what people expect from the brand.
I own 6 watches with this movement. My recommendation is to not wear a watch with this movement as a daily wearer. Wear it occasionally in rotation with your other watches and wind it very gently when worn. People that do this seem to have years of trouble free use. People that wear them everyday and constantly wind them usually break the movement in a short time.
@@sinjinadams2862that extremely concerning
How the hell do you keep pulling these off? I am absolutely ordering the white dial panda. Beautiful.
Some Pogue's in general, dont work.....but this is 🔥🔥🔥🔥! I like all the colors!
thank you so much!
Hi Marc ... I noticed you chose to use the non-swan-neck regulator adjuster variant of this movement. Any particular reason?
More expensive and probably most will not adjust themselves.
The Swans neck is mostly decorative to be honest, a fact I was surprised to learn!
@@islandwatch Decorative? the screws allow for precise adjustment. I am surprised as an Engineer, you wouldn't endorse this?
I own watches with both variants and although the movement with the swan neck regulater is a little nicer looking, the reality is I am never going to use it to regulate the watch so it is really pointless.
@@rozinant1237I think he knows what he's talking about lol 😂 the guy lives and breaths watches and has more watch knowledge you could only wish for.
Great looking watch but somewhat concerned about the movement. Is it easy to find people who can work on these?
You'd likely replace it, unless it is simple.
Beautiful originals, as far as I can tell, and a great price for unique time pieces :) Why the mystery about the calibre used? I can think of only one available in that price range, actually probably up to 3K or so. Without tipping off haters of a certain country with excellent engineering know-how they love to bash, would the crew of the "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off "Station 19" be shouting out "NINETEEN" in their motivation drill? If it really is that one, the calibre is liable to make this an heirloom watch to be passed down in the family!
Very clean. I like the white dial. The price is really good for a micro-brand. I think that loses me, is the Islander logo. I do hope he decides to update his logo. Other than that great watch. Side note, I’d like to see the Chinese micro rotor movement. The one that Boderry is using.
thanks for commenting.
Nice! Swan neck regulator?
Negative. This doesn't have it.
@@islandwatchstill I love that Pogue looking one!
Really wish it was just a tad smaller, but honestly a solid competitor to the Lorier Gemini for me.
Thank you.
Every time Studio Underd0g releases a new batch of their ST19-based chronos, I kick around the idea of getting one and then forget about it. This seems like a great alternative to the SU and is cheaper to boot (when you can actually get one, theirs are $600ish depending on the dollar-UK pound exchange rate.) I can't be the only viewer who would like to know more about the ST19 and why the non-swan neck version was spec'd for these. I know that Marc has criticized the reliability of some of these movements, but perhaps his remarks just applied to the version with the swan neck regulator? Can we get some clarification on that?
For these models, we get the best movements we could get, and checked them numerous times. So I am confident they will live up to what people expect from the brand.
oh the overrated studio underdog. few days ago KZhead algorithm showed me a video of marc explaining this movement ( i think it's an old video) especially the swan neck.
Is this the same movement that is in the 1963 Seagull Chinese Watch? It looks like it.
yup
These are awesome. Just to confirm, the chronograph doesn't stop after 30mins. You can use the bezel to turn it into a 12 hour chronograph. That is brilliant. I'm very interested.
correct, just keeps going
