About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

  • Bathroom rebuilding is the ultimate test of any relationship. You’re still happily together and the result is fabulous. Ash, you’ve done an amazing job and for all those that have never renovated/rebuilt a bathroom, it takes more time and patience than any other room in the house. Every job takes 4 times as long as you think it will! It will be lovely to see it with all its accessories in place and Ash enjoying a well deserved bubble bath🛀🎉🛁❤❤❤

  • Ash, you don't give yourself nearly enough credit... you really have done an amazing job in that bathroom... Not kidding... it really looks fabulous just like the rest of the rooms. You two together are doing an amazing job. I can't wait to see it all come together and all the rooms given such love and dedication as you do. Terry and Tracy have done amazing work as well of course... and as we all know all under the very watchful eyes of the supreme supervisor Patrick his Royal Lordship... Oh and Terry!   • The bathroom looks beautiful. Since there is no storage to put a toiletries, you may want to put a vanity in the bedroom with a stool, for someone to put in their makeup or get their hair done. Once you’re fully operational, maybe you could have an on demand hairdresser to come to come in, as guests need them.

    • Yes, that’s what Annalise does at LaLande. They also have a masseuse on call for guests as well. Perhaps use a hairdresser that can do beauty treatments like facials, makeup, manicure and pedicure as well. Would be well received by guests I feel.

  • If Terry is looking for something to do in his spare time, he might want to consider becoming a buyer for a lighting company. His choices for light fixtures are quite impressive, I have not seen one that I didn’t like.

  • My 127 year old clawfoot tub is held in place by the plumbing connections and its weight. No problems. Another plant to consider is cast iron plant, aspidistra. Good for low light and dry conditions. Bold green upright leaves. Used in Victorian homes before central heat. Have seen it variegated. Also Chinese evergreen has strap-like horizontal variegated leaves. And wax plant(Hoya) a vine with thick fleshy leaves and waxy scented flower clusters, long blooming. Can't wait to see the suite finished, fantastic bathroom.

  • Love the look of the new bathroom and so glad you have a separate shower. People who are less steady on their feet prefer a shower, you might find a hand bar by the step maybe a good addition in case of slips on the tiles. It all looks stunning.

  • So many words have already been stated. How beautiful, lovely exquisite etc. The bathroom is the sitting room, the bedroom, the bathroom. And yes as you do not give yourself enough credit so if you don't pat yourself on the back Terry will do it for you 💖 you both are golden and do such wonderful job along with Tracy, Jonathan and all the others that have also helped make this possible.     • He doesn't just spend for spending sake, there is a goal and and objective behind it. There were loads of moans about him using the resin and polystyrene mouldings because it was a cheap solution to get an elaborate effect. The moaners said he should use period-correct plaster mouldings, which would have been so much more expensive. He's spending the money where it makes the best impact. Very sensible.

  • I’ve spent several hours looking for replacement fixtures in my bathroom. You guys absolutely nailed it with your chrome and porcelain. It’s the perfect blend of looking classy without being too modern.❤

  • I was very lucky to find an unusually small 100-year-old clawfoot tub for my downstairs bath. I ran into the issue of fastening the feet to the marble flooring. I drilled 4 holes through the floor and subfloor. I used steel bolts with large steel washers overlapping the inside of each foot anchoring them to the floor to prevent it from tipping. My roommate who used that bath weighed 193 kilos for nearly 15 years. It's been nearly 20 years and I'm happy to report that it's worked ever since.

  • Use tile grout around the recessed legs of your tub instead of silicone so your tub won't move at all... Silicone will allow it to move slightly causing fatigue to the fixed plumbing components. It looks BEAUTIMOUS guys! ❤️🙏

  • I’ve enjoyed this episode so much! The two of you working together, making each other laugh (and swear 😝) under such difficult circumstances at times, it just shows it’s the only way you get stuff done. But you have a sense of humor which gets you through, let alone your love for each other. I laughed out loud when Ash asked if the light was expensive and Terry was evasive. Haven’t we all done that a million times over? But it achieves the desired affect which lasts as long as you want and makes you happy. 😊 I did the exact same thing on Monday as the builders didn’t do something in our new build. My husband was aware of what was going on but I wasn’t. However, a quick phone call and $2,000 later all was fixed.   • The lights are really nice. If you can still get replacement glass shades for those it would probably wise to own an extra one or two just in case. They might be hard to replace in the future

  • In case u didn’t , I would suggest waterproofing (clear silicon) the holes u put the tub feet into, in case someone runs the tub over. Heaven forbid, but it happens. What a beautiful job you have done

  • This bathroom reminds of the renovation mum & I did in house built in 1920. Not one wall was straight & very obvious in the bathroom. It ruined the overall effect. Ultimately, it still turned out great! However, Lalacelle is a grand palace. I’d say, move over Palace of Versailles. Here is strong competition!
