She didn't say her sister made a mistake; she simply realized it was not for her. I'm glad some of her siblings are supportive of her. She always seems so self-confident and even gives off like a power vibe. She's honestly a marvel. I hope her career takes her wherever she wants to go, and she finds her happiness.

    • I can kind of see both sides of it. Some people really do just prefer that break neck speed and that works for them. I used to think I wanted that, but got older and realized small cities are definitely for me. I don't want to live in a town with actually nothing, but I hate all the traffic and noise and just shittiness that comes with people from big cities. But I also really enjoy living where I am, I'm an hours drive away from multiple big cities in another state so it's nice to go there and experience that every once in a while. But yeah, I personally couldn't imagine actually moving to those cities

    • That’s a pretty silly reason to think the mountains are in any way better than LA. I’m from the suburbs near Sacramento and I moved to a small town once, I lasted two months- none of my favorite restaurants, there was nowhere for me to get cheap furniture, couldn’t walk anywhere in less than 45 minutes. It was a nightmare as far as I’m concerned

Eloquently and intelligently articulated with grace - it's a great melding of a popular platform and medium to have open, candid conversations that I think ALL OF US can relate to.

  • I was homeschooled my entire life by religious parents in Kentucky, and I can say that way of thinking is so hard to unlearn. I understand exactly what she is saying. You have to experiment with things so late that it does feel like you missed out on a normal childhood. Spitting out what you were spoon fed is heartbreaking and confusing. Where do you get your nutrition from after that? So to speak. It truly is exasperating to find yourself in your 20's when it seems like everyone else is over that. It is also validating to see other people question things and change their views on the world that does not fit the bible belt narrative. I realized I didn't want to be Christian and that I just wanted to be myself. She is so wonderful for spreading that message. I don't hate Christians by the way but being raised like that can feel suffocating to some of us. So it's nice to hear when people find a lifestyle that better suits them.

  • Didn't know i could like Chad Chad even more than i already did, but there ya go. As a former conservative religious homeschooled person, the whole loss/suppression of yourself is something that's really difficult to work through, as well as deconstructing religion and patriarchal mindsets, since you don't have access to differing, kinder opinions. Constructing your identity after that, and building up your sense of self is such a huge thing, and can be isolating as you become different from your family/primary community. Chad Chad is such a badass. Go Chad Chad!

  • as someone who grew up in a similar household, I resonate with chadchad a lot, the losing of self, the deconstructing and the process of unlearning things, having to realize that your own family pushes dangerous narratives onto you and that once you realize this your relationship with them will never be the same and that you no longer belong there, the shock of the fact that there's people who care about what you have to say or think or just about your existence in general is too real. I would get scolded by them for mentioning like, Harry Potter because it had "witchcraft" and God didn't want us to watch things like that. It was Satan trying to trick us. They never went online, and when they did they had one of those parental control things where they could basically only access wikipedia...as teenagers. And these were the kids who were allowed to go to public school. I imagine the homeschooled kids had it even worse. But on the same side, i grew up with unrestricted internet and media access and a very free liberal family, lol.
