This barn find ride on lawn mower is rusty and rotten. It has been left in a feed store for many years. The whole thing looks like it's ready to be scrapped. Will it run?
Thank you to my Patrons

This was a great video for sure, I prefer the narrated videos as they are very informative and helpful, especially for the little restorations I do myself. An amazing video as always, keep up the great work😃
thank goodness you have the voiceover back!
Yeah those are my favorite
Long time subscriber here, and I love ALL your videos, no matter what you're doing. I am a Machinist, have my own business, if you want, I can machine you a new gear lever. Totally free, if you could just cover shipping, I will gladly do it. That also goes for any other parts or random bits you may need in the future. Would love to be able to contribute to the channel.
Many thanks for your very kind offer. I don't think I will be restoring this particular mower however in the future I may need another specialist part machining. Thank you :)
@@MachineryRestorer What do you plan on doing with this mower if you don't restore it, will you keep it for parts or sell it on to someone else to use. I was surprised to see it still cuts really well even with the rusty old blades.
That little mower came back to life very well and I for one loved the video and your presentation. IMO this would make a fine restoration project as there was no discernible rust anywhere, the deck would come back nice. This mower is built so much tougher than most of the stuff today. Give her a nice powder coated deck and body and she will look as good as new. She deserves it. Thanks
I enjoy the videos where you talk much more than the ones where you don't. You do a very good job of explaining things.
Personally I enjoyed watching All of your videos narrated and not narrated. I like the narrated a little more myself. This is your channel. You run it as you see fit. You can’t please everyone but I myself think you’re doing a awesome job at what you do sir. Have a Blessed One Sir. 👍👍👍.
One thing that I really hate about your videos is that they always end. I am never ready for that. Always like "Ahh... I wanted more." Keep up the great work! :😃
I like restorations, but I also very much like these "get it going" videos as well. I've been doing small engine repair for a long time, and I still manage to learn something here and there. Well worth my time watching.
We learn so much with the voiceover,I don't see why anyone would prefer a silent one??
Brilliant video, informative & instructive. It really does feel good to breathe life into an old piece of forgotten machinery. Very well done good sir.
I have wanted one of these Westwoods for many years to restore. I am now 60 and think I will never end up restoring one. Lovely to watch these video's of getting them working again. Well done.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge once again in such an awesome video. I personally didn't know much about the construction of lawn mowers, even though I have been using one once a week for the past few years. I really enjoy the videos of yours with voiceover, taking us on an adventure of finding all the issues and allowing us to understand your thought process.
Best kind of video. Talking while problem solving.
I really like both styles of videos you have, this to hear your reasoning on how to do things is actually awesome
Another successful video from our very own UK equivalent to USA's Mustie1 lol!!! Have really enjoyed your channel so far and thanks for both commentry and non commentry restoration splits on your work. It breaks up the channel nicely
Love your channel! Doesn’t matter if it’s a full restoration or a “will it run”. You make it very informative and fun to watch. Thank you and please keep sharing!
In my Opinion, That machine deserves a complete restore,........ Good show mate!
Awesome to see these old workhorses to bring back to life! More explanation and talk about what is what and what you try to do etc. the better!
For me, the narrated videos are the best. Very informative and interesting. Great work!
You can do no wrong for me wether narrated or silent. I have to admit returning them to better than new restoration is favourite but I love the channel what ever. All the best Mick.
Just like all other comments, one of the best resto vids on KZhead. Vice grips for gear lever, what a classic lawn tractor. Well done.
Lovely little mower. Surely worth a full restoration.
Great old mower, nothing like the sound of the older Briggss 👌🏻
I like both styles. An engaging host makes the biggest difference. You do well narrating. Your choice of style differences between restorations and "will it runs" is pretty good in my opinion.
Love the talking and resto videos. Both super relaxing and enjoyable video styles. Thanks for filming and sharing.
I recently bought a 1012 to do some pulling work. I am very mechanical but no experience with these tractors. This video very useful, explained a lot, feel much more confident in adjusting the clutch and general servicing. Thanks for your detailed explanation.
Incredible!! I love this channel! I have learned a lot from you. I really appreciate all the time, effort, and money you put into these projects. Can't wait until the next one!
love your stuff. the best on KZhead. I can sit and watch you for hours. almost therapeutic.
Great channel I love watching you fix tractors and get them running again thanks
Very nice job getting this running! You've always got such interesting content, and a great way of explaining things. I've noted something interesting too, these older Westwood mowers seem to have a lot of the same parts as the 1985 Mark Master lawn tractor I'm repairing, but with a few different bits on them or accessories changed.
You've got a very unique collection of mowers for sure.
I assume he sells a few of them but it would be cool to see your collection and how you store them
Quite the proper repair. That you got it to run was no surprise. That parts are available, and you acquired parts, is amazing. Anything close to 40 years old is obsolete and parts availability, at least in my country, is non-existent. Fun project, non the less. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing as usual, I don't think you know how many people envy what you do- wishing you good health and a happy life.
This was a fun video. Your exploratory explanations are great. We always learn something, thanks.
I really enjoy watching all your videos. I've learned a lot about the functionality of mowers. Your restoration videos especially are very satisfying. Personally, I would love for you to do narration for your restoration videos as you explain the process very well and I believe it makes the video that much more enjoyable.
the talking and can we fix it are very good. it gives the video a bit more excitement great video
Great video Machinary restorer much enjoyed ,I fixed up a 1984 MTD rideon lawn mower and it cut grass for the the first time in 15 years , everything needed attention and fixing but definitely worth it in the end 🤠🤙 your videos were great help to get it fixed ,all the best from Ireland
Loved this rebuild works great because of your know how. Thanks.
I've only recently found your channel and have been watching your videos. Looks like I have a lot of watching to do. I also follow a gentleman in New York here in the states by the name of James Condon. The two of you have very similar styles. Both of you have such a calm demeanor and excellent troubleshooting skills. Your commentary is much appreciated as it really makes what you are doing very clear and concise. Thanks for both very instructional and entertaining videos!
I like both styles of vids, the non verbal restorations and verbal fix up ones. 👍
Glad you got it running.. Love your videos and how you figure things out and get them working.
I always enjoy watching your videos whether it’s will it run or restorations. Please keep up the good work.👍
Really enjoyed the video, I watch all your content but I will admit that hearing your commentary and explanation of what your doing makes them much better 👍 keep up the excellent work
I really enjoy BOTH verbal and non verbal videos!! Keep ‘em coming!
Very nice video👍. I like both your narrated and not narrated videos. The full restos are nice as are the will it run style. Keep mixing it up👍👍👍👍👍
Sweet another Westwood. The more I watch your videos the more I want one
Awesome video. Love watching these especially when you bring an old mower back to life. Wish I had the mechanical mind to do stuff like this. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks 👍
You were the last pice of the youtube petrol puzel, and you fit in perfectly. We love your videos
You know it's bad when you have to break out the impact just to get the bowl nut off!! Really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!
Liked the video, much better with a bit of information. Would love a video covering how you make the decals.
I really enjoyed this video. You were very informing by taking in this video. I hope you keep talking from now on in all your videos. I watch all of them and you talking is way more enjoyable. Keep your videos coming. I look forward to the next one. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for focusing on quintessentially British brands. I really enjoy learning about machines that I am not familiar with. I find it fascinating, and many of them are much more beautiful and interesting than anything that we have in the States.
love seeing these older machines in action. Reminds me of my childhood.
Very nice job getting this running!
Always talk dude. Yes, the captioned resto vids are great 'coz we still get to witness your high work standard. But the voice-over vids are the best 👉👉👉. Thanks man 🙏. 😎
Awesome! What you call a 'will it run' (WIR) is more like a rustoration that many in the US do. Get it running with minimal parts and painting. Most WIR in the US start with seeing if the engine is locked up, has spark, and if so they try to start it, usually with a separate fuel tank (or even just a rubber tube full of gas), then proceed from there. Keep up the great work!
It's a joy as always to watch you work, fantastic video. I also prefer the videos with commentary. You're just fun to listen to! 🤷🏼♂️
I like both types of videos, it all depends on my mood. But I love having both options
haven't had a machinery restore video in a while, good one dag!
Considering how the deck looked, it seems to be cutting really well.👍😁
Another great video. I enjoy both styles of your videos. Please keep making them.
Just so you know, all your styles of videos are awesome.
Great machines, I keep one as an orchard or rough cutter. It will literally smash its way through anything, I wish they would keep making them. Much better than new modern ones.
Love both types of your videos; keep them coming!!!
I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative and interesting. Great job on the repairs. Thanks for sharing the video. Tea is on me.
Wow thank you so much for your very generous donation!
I love where the discharge is on this machine. More manufactures should use rear center discharge.
Another great video, even with dull blades it did cut fairly well. 😊
AWESOME video! i Love watching both your restored and also your will it run videos. Lots of Great information!! Great running machine. Please keep up the Awesome work! :) :)
Well done getting this to run/cut grass once again. As an observation and not a criticism; I prefer the non narrated videos like the last one you did where you do full restorations and in the end, have an old/new mower [jmo]. Thanks for your time/efforts.
I love the restoration videos but really enjoy your voice, very calming
Very nice repair 👍 Last week my neighbor asked me to work on his riding lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton v twin engine on it. He said it would start but it sounded like there was a rattling noise coming from the engine. When I asked him to start the engine I did in fact hear a rattling noise but it also sounded like it was running on only one cylinder. I found one of the push rods got bent from a stuck valve so it fell out of place and began rattling around inside the engine. So I had to replace that push rod and the stuck valve with the valve guide.
I like hearing you talk to explain what you're doing.
I prefer the explanations and commentary, I think it could be good to have it in the full restoration videos too!
I had the same problem with a jet as well..so i used a little heat and it came right out..it may not work everytime but 8 out of 10 is not bad.. Glad to see you back again..i enjoy your videos ..see you on the next one Cheers friend 🍺🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Excellent video this has been, that sounds great and cuts ok, nice little project 👍
It runs good. It drives good. It cuts good enough with dull blades. Even his little headlights work. That little tractor is just begging you to restore him!
These are the best videos, I don't watch the quiet restoration videos myself.
Those old lawn mowers are so cool! Id love to have one, and put it back in service. Unfortunately it would probably be ludicrously expensive to have one sent to the US. Anyway great as always Dag! And i really enjoyed your commentary again. Enjoy hearing you talk through of issues.
I like the design of the engagement for the blades, just tension the belt by moving the entire deck. I'll take that over an electric PTO anyday. Seems to do a good job cutting the thicker stuff. I'm sure you can come up with a handle of some sort for the gearshift.
I enjoy all of your videos. You do a really good job. 😁👍
Hi i’ve been enjoying your restoration videos and your will it run videos and I do like the commentary it would be nice to hear on both. Again I enjoy the videos
I really enjoy your videos and they are very informative 👍
Love these old Briggs flat / L head engines. Thanks for sharing your efforts! Your content is always fun to watch whether the topic is a full restoration or otherwise. I'm surprised that the deck discharges from the rear. Is this a common feature on older Westwoods?
Good show. I don't get nearly enough old units like that to play with in our shop.
...good one, nice work, have a great week...
"Anyone for a slice? I wouldn't be offended if you said no." LOL! More slices of humor like that please! Keep up the great work!
This so cool how you fix things so broken
These videos are so satisfying. Cheers Daggerwin
I KNEW It!! Thought I was going crazy there for a sec!
Yo, daggy lookin kinda jacked though lol. Weird to hear this voice not on FS lol. Keep up the good content brotha 👍
ya I was thinking the same thing
I like your narration. Let’s us in on your thought process.
Good job, mate!
YAY NEW RIDER VID!!!! Keep them coming WOOPWOOP!
Glad to see another video, always enjoy them. FYI I’ve become almost addicted to the Daggerwin channel lol, my wife and son are getting me the FS2022 and steering wheel for Father’s Day, can’t wait to get the chance to play multiplayer with you!!
The wire from a Wire Brush works well for cleaning the tiny holes in the Emulsion Tube. You can try heating the part then soaking in cold water to break it free. Great that it started. Peerless Transmission? Sounded like it may need Trans fluid. A great candidate for changing pulleys and making a high speed runabout. I didn't expect it to also have Electric Start and Rope Start. Well Done. I would not buy premium fuel line. Belts yes. Some Killex would help that Lawn!
Great video man, truthfully, it was really interesting I watched the whole thing. With KZhead being full of WAY smaller videos, it's hard to stay interested but I think also because its 'you' I was just automatically interested
Haven’t been subscribed for too long, but I can say I have in fact learned a lot about engines from you! Love the content and seeing otherwise garbage being resuscitated!
I prefer it when you talk. The others can always turn down the volume and can turn on captions if they want.
I enjoy all of your content!
Very nice. I enjoy watching this!
Brilliant video!
