@@SirFaceFone I think it reached it lowest point when they made adults and teen sims basically the same. Outside a few restrictions on Sims, they even, more or less, same the same model with YA. Same height and everything unless you use mods.

The way they handled aliens feels like something a mod would do as a result of modding limitations, EA had the full capability of making them new sim types but still took the same route.

They should do a QOL update and make them occult they are just making themselves look bad putting them as hats. Or at least simply move them to skin details rather then hats a modder has done it already.
i haven’t played the sims 4 in a while but jeez, is this really the quality of game packs coming out nowadays? this seems like you’re paying money for a bunch of fetch/filler quests, you’re doing the same thing over and over it seems like what else is there to do? and this seems to be extremely lazily made. the best thing imo about this is the aesthetic of the town, but other than that, what else is there that’s... fun? sure, you have the card games, light sabers and the droids, but most of the time those aren’t even used to do the main quests. i wouldn’t be paying money for this any time soon.
The worst thing is that it isn’t ea who’s doing this decisions, but the devs! They literally confirmed this themselves! this shows how little they actually care for their own consumers

I always wanted something Star Wars themed for The Sims because of sandbox style gameplay. There are already loads of SW games. But to really have a Star Wars-like game you'd need a total conversion so a spin-off would make sense. The thing is that The Sims Medieval and other games were limiting so a SW spinoff would be the same.
I really think it could be good if it was done well, but there is barely anything new gameplay-wise, just fetch quests.
It's been years since they made a Sims spin-offs like Medieval and Castaway. They just wasted a whole lotta shit in trying to convince people to buy this pack which is pretty much a lame expansion to be honest. I guess more people would get interested if they planned to turn this one into a spin off instead, and also no angry sim mob boycotting this new EP.
They were so lazy that alien skins only affect limbs and the head! And the clothing restriction on Batuu is one of the dumbest things they've done!
I think they made a restriction because otherwise the npcs would be walking around with normal clothes and it wouldn't look as immersive. But alien skins could definitely be the whole body, idk why they decided to do such a half assed version.
@@Maria-bt2hb Then why didn't they just make the restriction for the npcs only? The player restriction ruins some roleplay ideas. And yet again, it's up to modders to fix the devs messes.

Also the whole 'going to an evil empire's prison/hiding from an opressive regime' vibe and all that jazz seems odd for The Sims 4, a game that's being increasingly catered to children. I agree it should've been a spin-off but I guess Disney/EA wanted a Star Wars-themed game ASAP so we got this dumbed down BS instead.

Wilson Hurtwoods definitely. I mean really, they should be able to use the force! The new death could be be force choking! It just feels very lacking.
@@tropicalsquid8802 Force Choking is a good idea, but they've generally gone out of their way to avoid direct murder by other Sims. Even the fire spell can't be used on an already singed Sim. You have to light the environment instead. And vampires are completely non-lethal. But they *could* have put in something like a speeder bike crash, or a cryogenic freezer accident. Or even, ya know, accidently impaling yourself with a laser sword.
Yeah, it's just a $20 advertisement for Disney.

I never thought I'd say this about anything, but this pack looks even worse than 'that trilogy'. It sort of makes me think of a poor man's version of the S3 Into the Future expansion. Except, Into the Future was good, in spite of it having limited appeal - but I still like to revisit it now and again. It's strange that S4 is the longest running version of The Sims and yet it's the worst. I'm glad I still play S3.
Right? Fake aliens and fetch quests, how lame. I'm a big Star Wars fan and I wasn't happy about this but I figured hey I love Star Wars, if it's good I'll give it a chance but nope! This feels like a fan made cc pack, and if it were it'd be impressive but it's from the "pros" so it's not.

Since it was star wars and I knew they liked star wars, I was hoping they went all out for it. Add alien races, make this world like the alien world except more flushed out. I guess I just expected them to go crazy with the alien idea and build onto what they already had. The shop keepers are sort of ok. It would have been nice if I could go into a store and actually look at what is in the store. Maybe like how old school gameboy games were, enter store, see item, talk to shop keeper to open said shop keeper dialog and buy items. The amount of interactive items vs non interactive items is sort of the big problem with the sims 4. All that stuff and my sim can't do anything with it.
SW is not about Aliens, though. So that makes no sense to expand on an existing alien world in Sims 4,. Though I agree they could have possibly connected it with the space smuggling astronaut careers.

Pretty sure they didn't include C3PO or some of the others like in Rogue One (K2-SO) and Solo (L3-37) because they talk and perhaps too similar to robots in DU pack? Idk....I would love to have had C-3PO in this pack among other things like Jedi stuff, though.

The Sims 4: Journey to Disneyland It literally feels like all of these sims are just LARPing as Star Wars characters. Which definitely explains why the "aliens" are just people with masks, and why there's no actual force-sensitive occults.
Agree. Also I'd much rather meet Luke Skywalker in-game than Kylo and Rey. The sequel trilogy was a tragedy.

I feel it's unfair the lightsaber fighting have this fast and nice looking animations, but snowball fight animations are extremely slow and boring to watch. I want this action with normal things. And also with unexisting pillow fights and child games like tag. Why can they do this action in this pack, but not in the other packs.
"Dancing Together" and "Dance Battles" don't look right either 😔
I could be wrong but from another comment I read, the lightsaber fight is a reused animation.
@@jayc7171 They can reuse that animation all they want of they give us an actual sword skill we can carry over. Though the repetitiveness of vampire and magic duels (as well as the lightsaber segments, apparently) doesn't give much hope of a really in-depth feature.
@@jayc7171 oh ok, however what's the case, it annoys me that the normal things Sims do together often are non existing or just bad done, but these fights are not. The work that was used on this animation should be used in others to.
They had to make this good-ish or Disney wouldn't have made the deal with them. It's annoying knowing they put more effort into an advertisement pack than in their normal games.

In defense of Strangerville, it's still a nice town. There's probably as many residential lots and nearly as many neighborhoods as Get Famous. Once you do the adventure you still have a setting with an Area 51 adjecent vibe that's sort of reminiscent of Strangetown. This pack is just...yeesh.

If EA hasn't listened to players (including many influential simtubers) being incredibly direct about what they want in the game and what is wrong/missing with the game, why would they use a pack that's obviously part of a deal to get such specific critiques on it? I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, however I still think that this pack is kind of a bad one. I knew that it would be lacking in some aspects like I knew rabbit holes would be everywhere and stuff, however the fact that there's no lightsaber skill OR Force User occult makes me just... idk. I think that there should have been a new skill and a force user occult that could get randomly applied to sims. Another thing I don't like about this pack is that it doesn't integrate well with the rest of the game... like AT ALL. I feel like I need to make a whole new sim JUST for that world, so I'll always have low programming and low fitness. Since I've been looking into modding, I might think about making a lightsaber skill, a street smarts skill and a kind of hacking skill to compliment splicing and such. Anyway, my overall opinion is a bit negative, while it was fun to play through, I don't feel like I will touch the pack AT ALL in my other family's because of the fact that it feels like in the sims world it's exactly how it is in the real world, an amusement park. I think it would have been perfect if it was treated like how Sims Medieval was, a seperate game with it's own expansions and stuff. The fact that you can one minute be in modern day, then next minute you're in Star Wars, but you can go back any time is so immersion breaking and atmosphere breaking that it makes it feel like it should have been a standalone game. I feel like they should have release a different game pack in this place like an Equestrian game pack or literally ANYTHING else and spent 2 to 3 years making a full "The Sims: Star Wars" GAME, not game pack, but game. Just imagine that, being able to choose when it takes place, you want clone wars? Go for it, Galactic War? Go for it, First Order? Go for it. It would be so cool to pick your start like you're in Narr Shaddaar, no credits to your name just trying to live or some wealthy noble born into owning castles on another planet or you could even be like how Anakin was, a child, living with his parents when some random Jedi comes to your house and tells you that you can do good in the universe, that you're destined to be a Jedi. But yeah, closing thoughts, it's fun for around an hour or so until you beat the entire thing since there's basically nothing new. I'd wait for the price to plumet on G2A or something then buy it.

Your the other only person so far who's actually shown off what's in the build/buy mode. Some of the decor looks interesting but is going to be limited in usage unless you really play out the desert worlds.

@@missundies not everyone follows every single sims KZhead channel. No need to get angry when someone has only seen this for the first time on a different channel to where you had. I think the community has gotten a bit too aggressive with one another since sims 3, worse than when sims 4 came out and its a real shame. I understand many are unhappy but please don't take it out on fellow simmers. We want the same things for the most part and not everyone wants to waste time in arguments.

TS2 isn't bad, I played a lot of the games including console and handheld spinoffs. The thing is that there are some unique mods that only exist for TS4.

I absolutely loathe how disney treat lightsabers. They treat it like some sort of cheap gimmick when it's supposed to be quite special or at least pretty damn significant in Star Wars lore. Not gonna lie though, the baby rey hairstyle and the jawa outfit (which would've been cuter on toddlers) makes me want to buy it...BUT I WON'T. The resistance encampment reminds me of Tython, it's pretty but like you said, just setdressing.

I actually think it’s kinda cool that they put in the effort to make Kylo’s face actually look like Adam Driver even though you would never see it if you play the game normally. The fact that you can buy droids is also cool. But overall I think they could have done a lot more with this DLC. The Star Wars universe is so expansive, you think they could have gone bigger and better.
This pack reminds me of Katy Perry stuff from Sims 3 They both are absolutely wothless garbage.

I'm not crazy about StrangerVille, either. Mostly, because they could have did a better job with the world (Town area) and not crazy about the end task to be the hero. At least this game pack's world looks more interesting as well as some of the game play.

If they'd made new alien races and integrated them with gameplay, or even dealt with how meeting the rest of the galaxy would go for the sims planet (hello, spore references), I would have been so interested. It's a shame disney's so aggressive with their IP. I bet that's why you can't kill anyone, wear your own clothes, romance certain sims, build in the world, et cetera. So why partner with a sandbox game if you're not going to allow creative freedom? Poor choice for both companies.
I liked strangerville, it was interesting to play but.. Did i ever play it again? Nope. Like this pack it would be a one-time thing and then i'd ignore the world entirely. We didn't need another story-driven pack, what we need to just more gameplay content. In all honesty, a person who doesn't give up easily could do everything in the sims in a few days or more. There is nothing in the game that sticks out and makes me want to keep returning - it's mods that do that. If sims 3 wasn't so laggy, i'd sit in that and ignore sims 4 completely.
Love your channel, and thanks for the great video. I was really hoping to see Emily wielding a lightsaber. I think I'll pass on this one, as I'm not a fan of Star Wars and will wait for a more "family," centered pack.

Don't forget cars or spiral staircases, longer hair, more cabinets, farms, etc and they just announced that none of those things are coming to the game anytime soon.
They definitely need to add bands and musical instruments. I also always wanted public transportation like actual buses and subway.

Day by day sims 4 is becoming a visual novel with all those text and choices.
Thing is those work pretty well in Granite Falls and Jungle Adventure. The latter similarly requiries you to have certain items in your inventory to achieve better results. But Jungle Adventure also has several explorable areas, two new skills, new plantable crops, and several recipes. I built an entire career around freelance archeology. For a stronger example, visual novel and conversation pop-ups are the entire narrative model of Sims Medieval. There's just nothing to bring home from this location. And the quest system looks like a modified Odd Jobs screen.

Plopsy is probably the most impactful thing they've added recently since you can sell pretty much any craftable (though I doubt it's worth it for paintings). But they haven't had anything that adds to preexisting gameplay in a while.
Using this will be weird, can you imagine the Landgraabs and the Goths suddenly appearing in Batuu with their modern clothing like “Why does everyone wear such baggy clothing?” lol I can’t

@@DigitalDassie Yeah, the droids and lightsabers ALMOST got me to buy this pack, but then I learned they lose all real function once you take them home and... what's the point, then? You can only do the VERY few interesting things in this pack in that world.
If I can't run around dicing people up with lightsabers in front of a random geezer while saying "The future is now old man." , I don't want this pack.
I want the build/buy/CAS stuff from this pack with absolutely NONE of the game play. They really couldn't make a pack of decent stuff less appealing to me
I wanted to buy Snowy Escape in a kit and Journey to Batuu is the only pack I don't have, so I'd have to include it there. Thanks for this review! I really didn't know if buying it in a kit was worth it...

i can understand having so many events be rabbit holes cuz sims is not supposed to be an action packed adventure game but not having any new skills or occults or even ways of dying is a really weird choice. you would think a force or piloting skill would be a no brainer

No Mandalorians, no Jawa stealing your stuff, only TWO iconic characters, they even missed out on hilarious inside jokes like when you're a Stormtrooper you can shoot stuff but almost always miss or that Stormtroopers can't sit (at least the cosplayers can't lol). Even listening to C3PO for two hours seems more interesting than this pack.
Actually there a 3 Iconic characters. ^^ Hondo exist a little longer then Rey and Kylo

Thank you for showing this detailed review. I totally agree with you on all your points. This is a shameless cash grab by EA and it feels gross. I am a hardcore Sims fan since the beginning and I cannot believe THIS garbage is what they're putting their efforts into instead of things like babies not being objects, skin tones and the million other things this game is lacking. It's filled with repetitive activities that make game play SO boring and disappointing. I literally only play it to do 100 baby challenges, otherwise I'm playing Sims 3 for actual enjoyment. This pack missed the mark HARD.
Just when game packs for Sims 4 couldn't get any more half-assed EA goes all in and makes an at best quarter-assed pack. Great review dude :-)

The lightsaber's is best part of this pack I have enjoyed using some decor items such as logos Jedi/Empire I have personally used Empire logo and since logo is black I used red carpet to make it stand out...I made nice celebrity style carpet walk with the logo and looked brilliant. I liked the doors able to use from the pack I liked Sith Holocron with on and off glow and sound effect as to it. I have not tried Jedi Holocron yet sure should be just as good. I liked some other items such as wall steel box shelves, tents (which is good if don't have tents related packs etc) I loved the crate could still I wish however could use lock and unlock feature to them so has red or green light on it in non-vacation worlds but they been brilliant for storage when using lightsaber's I had fun using them as dice roll concept like if I win this happens or if they win then they get to go free etc so I had alot fun using the pack in anyway I could its just shame droids don't have follow command when returned to trip and no way can change world sound to sound like Batuu as that be nice feature. my flaw to the pack is that the force severely lacking...no Jedi/Sith Occult so had to use spellcasters in previous gameplay with it and yet to try Vampires for them using non vampire related powers like bat-form etc but would have take plenty blood packs with me handle vampire cravings on me return trips to Batuu for more creds, artefact's and Crystals I didn't get this far yet with my other idea concept using aliens occult and ethier change appearance of them to make own species in own star wars world or use star wars masks apply them to your aliens. I don't know if this possible as yet to get as far making alien race in star wars way but be interesting never the less plus added bonus alien powers may have.
thank u so much abi for this in depth review! i have a couple questions though, how do our sims fill their needs in batuu (sleep, eat, etc)? also do seasons work there? if yes how do our sims shelter themselves from harsh weather?
Thank you so much for watching! You mainly use the dwelling rabbit hole by using the "Freshen Up" interaction. Not sure about seasons since the early access version doesn't have any packs but I think it still works

i feel like this pack was made very quickly. because based off of this review: •no variety in quests •no new skills, not even a force or lightsaber skill •what they put in droids could have been added to the simbots •no new ways to die (huh??????) •no new occults, despite the multiple opportunities (jedi, sith, more aliens) as a lifelong star wars fan, this pack is extremely disappointing. to me the missions feel like a new career from the get to work expansion. indeed, this is a glorified ad that's not even that good because the team did not put much effort into creating an in depth gameplay with variety. there were so many opportunities to add so much to this pack to make it interesting and unique, but this was so hastily put together (ex. alien heads) that it's not even worth ten dollars. im not one to shit on the developers of sims, i honestly believe they're just doing what ea tells them and who knows, maybe they're not happy about it either.
I just wish EA brought back the other occult types or something. We getting knitting, camping, laundry and stuff like this. What's next a stamp collecting stuff pack?

I've gone back to Sims 3. Such a great game. Hope Sims 5 will be better than this.
Yeah, let's hope Sims 5 won't have ads running all over the screen while you're playing the game, like EA recently did with one of their other games
Idk Who had the idea to make this pack but seeing the sims Community and yeah this is not a good game pack they should’ve either gave us a spin-off game(Ts2 style) or just made this like a Halloween pack/update or something similar to that Like you say in your video they were more important things to be addressed Skin tone, baby, and other cults(we still don’t have werewolves or fairies) just to name few What I can see from The Community (and myself) want of the sims team Improve babies kids teens and elders : right now the Sims four feels like a millennial/Young adult simulator (and before you say parenthood and nifty knitting I am aware of those packs exist) More drama: right now the game feels like Mr. and Mrs. perfect and I can get boring as it some point, cc well fun at the same time not everyone can get custom content More personalities: I’m tired of the three treat system it’s bland and it’s boring seeing the Sims three in their treats it looks and feels fun I really don’t like the zodiac system but the same time I really don’t care if they’re zodiacs(that’s just my opinion) and they can also add favorite colors and favorite foods like Sims three Darker and more skin tone/ Eyecolor: do I need to say more? we need more diverse skin tones and more eye color because right now just plain vanilla it’s kind of Joel even with custom content More supernaturals: I really really really want to play as a fairy or a werewolf now I know that most people don’t like the Colts but I don’t really mind The vampire's practice Has to be my favorite one(despite it being the only colts game I own) give me werewolves, fairies and improve mermaid Also, don’t be afraid to add blood into the werewolves pack please Sims Another problem I have with the game is the fact that is rated for teenagers/kid and looking back on the older games they were really out there just to say don’t be afraid to add a little spiciness into your game because right now the Sims four feels like a child’s game that one of the higher of an ea try to make and now the Sims team is stuck with the game that they’re trying to fix I feel bad for the gurus they really want The Sims four But ea (or someone else I don’t know) just won’t allow that I don’t know anything about business or coding but looking at the Sims 1 to 3 it looks like they were meant for adults the kids love them anyway Sims four feels like it’s trying to appease to the Karen I wish the Sims four could just be for adults and kids right now it’s pushing towards a kid agenda and it’s making the game bland and boring shirt custom content exist at the same time not everyone can get it for instants Consol players and Player that play on a phone, The gurus are trying their best to appease everyone but at the same time they work for a big company that only cares about money and since ea has the rights to the sims I don’t see is being sold off to a small company overall I don’t see the Sims for being a good game and if this game pack who’s that goes behind the scenes then it shows that EA really doesn’t care about the Sims The sims 4 has been out for six years and seeing the complaints that people have it hasn’t changed in those six years only time can tell what ea does to the franchise or until Sims five comes out we have to wait and see Sorry for the rant like you said do you only want the best for the game
