Why You Should Buy The Alpine A110 GT in 2024! | Driven+

The Alpine A110 GT is one of the best handling cars on the market.
It has a hefty price tag but all is forgiven the minute you drive this thing!
Yes you do not have a manual box option, but the automatic box performs incredibly well with split second changes!
Massive thanks to Alpine Centre in Liverpool for lending us the car for this review! Look forward to more collaborations in the future!

  • Great review, I pick up my Alpine a110 GT in March with the new registration and having owned a GT4 and a GTS 4.0 this car when I test drove it put a bigger smile on my face than both of those

    • Im gonna pick up my A110 GT in march, too. It's my first ever sports car, daily is a Model Y Long Range, though I have a very long history in Renault cars. Last Renault was a Talisman estate with the same engine and gearbox but less power. So: any suggestions for a complete newbie?

    • @@kingphiltheillyou could try and learn how to better drive a car. automatics are for luxo-barges, useless EVs(no gb, basically) and old blokes in supercars who can't use their limbs and their brain in useful coordination(like they did in their prime) and so, they need an automatic to eliberate some mental space in order to not crash into the first hedge. edit. sorry for the agressive tone but, in my opinion, ppl who don't want to put in the effort to really understand and learn how to properly drive a car.. don't deserve to really drive said cars(ones as this a110 is 🙂🤷🏿‍♂️).

Here in Australia they only ever imported 110 vehicles in total ! , in 2 years of owning mine i have only ever seen 2 others - very rare car that flys under the radar . Great review - cheers from Brisbane

  • Very honest review of a fantastic car .Your reasoned conclusion of why you would buy one is exactly the same one I had when I bought my A110 GT 12 months ago. The driving experience and rarity . Ps through David Pook at life A110 you can purchase longer paddles and also get revised Geo settings which make the car even more planted on motorways .

  • Good review. I really like the A110. As far as dimensions go, look at the original Ferrari Dino 246GT. It is within a few centimetres everywhere, but a lot more power. Think of it as the Dino for the 21st century. I can't praise it enough as the Dino is a beautiful sportscar, as is this.

  • Max. Absolutely brilliant 'little' sports car! What a machine! And it's all in the weight....or not as the case may be. Fantastic car in the purist driving sense. Better than a Porsche Caymen? Yes! It may be French and an off-shoot of Renault and have the odd rattle but for UK B roads nothing better. As someone barely 5ft 4in might struggle with the bolt way of adjusting the seats but i would use a cushion! Yes other than the far more expensive Audi TT RS, [now gone] the Alpine is simply the best. Thank you, Max.

  • I had an idea of how the Alpine would drive when it was revealed, as had previously driven regular Clios, then a Clio RS. With less weight, more power and double wishbones, I could imagine how nimble it would be. An Alpine is the only car I would dream of spending so much on, I didn't think rarity was a significant reason and was just a bonus, but it surely helps to justify it. Not for an air of exclusivity, it's that it's 'once in a generation' level of good, unique in design, with only a few around and won't be available for long. It has such a high probability of being a future classic, but that usually takes a generation in itself.

    • @@DrivenPlus French cars for some reason got a bad reputation here in the States. Not sure why. If you watch Glee, Sue Sylvester has a Renault 5, I think there was also one in Ferris Beuller's Day Off... But for a "small" company like Alpine, it's stupidly hard and expensive to get certified emissions and crash safety here. I believe this was done to protect dealer networks since most buyers of european cars got them imported from Europe because it was cheaper.

  • These are pretty tunable to about 320bhp for not a lot of money, they become interesting at that point but I'm not sure I could justify the spend on the car in the first place rather than putting my money into the old faithful Porsche. Emira has the point at suspension + chassi kinematics, engine with more character, manual. But all in all the Alpine takes the cake. Made that choice and not regretting. Plus for those 100k i got a gti clubsport 4-door 6 speed doing daily bits if needed plus that alpine so perfect 2 car garage at that.
