Ok everyone gather around! It's time to compare things! Rookie Drift series of chassis from Yokomo has actually evolved this time around with part and setup changes. Previously the 1.0 version of the Rookie Drift was just a name swap from the final version of the YD-2 Z platform which was well received. In this video I will outline the main differences between the 1.0 and 2.0 versions of the Rookie Drift and illustrate why the 2.0 is better in pretty much every way :D Check out my shakedown video for drifting action (it's a monster fyi and I love it). Be on the lookout for other comparison videos of the RD 2.0 against other chassis soon :) Thank you for watching and enjoy the video! :D
This was the video we’ve been waiting for! I’m stoked to see the comparison of the two and to hear that it drives as good as an RDX! Stoked to get one on track soon! Thank you!
Oh yiss the RD 2.0 drives super awesome :D I will do a RDX box stock comparison soon!
been running my rd2.0 for about a month now. money well spent. can definitely be a contender as is with a rdx. i also have an rdx. the two are very similar. just more adjustments out the box with the rd2.0.
Heck yiss :D Currently, which car do you find yourself driving more often since getting the RD 2.0?
Very good comparison… thanks Nezo
Thank you for watching!
You've convinced me dude, I've just assembled my RD2.0. All dressed with electronics, just got shocks to do tomorrow(no pliers on me) and testing. I've crashed my Rmx and broke a rear hub carrier, while waiting for parts I might as well play with the new toy😅
Aww yiss! I think you'll find that whenever those parts arrive that they will sit in the package while you continue to love and run the RD 2.0 :D
Yeah, they have really done their homework this time. And even the base tune is decent this time around. Would be very cool if they included the old super duper duper short diffusor from the YD-4 platform though. It would be a really good fit for this chassis to go with that nice rear esc mount 😊
0o0oo0 yiss i know the one you mean, i have it on my MC-1...gotta get the part number to stock it again :D
Nice
It's interesting that there seems to be the mounting holes to put the servo in the same place as an SD2.0. I guess you would have to change the rest of the steering to accommodate the change in servo direction but a cool upgrade path option.
Yiss this as well! I may have forgotten to mention that but yiss upgrade path options essentially :D
Hi Nezo love your videos, wondering if the fan mounts are still in stock? thank you!
They should be still in stock
Watched this video just before ordering front lower arms. I'm glad I did because I would've ordered thicker rod end adaptors for the arms. Question: would RD2 gearbox fit on YD-2Z lower deck?
Yiss the RD 2.0 gear box will fit the YD2-X lower deck. You will most likely have to change upper decks to accommodate this.
Great video! I'm intrigued by this chassis now! I love my RDX, but everyone has one. If this drives as well as the RDX then I'd love to build one and try it!
Oh yiss you will not be disappointed with the RD 2.0 :D
Nice video. Rear knuckles can fit the calipers and the front knuckles cant fit calipers. Are the reve d aluminium Front knuckles work (RD-001)? Than the calipers can fit.
Do you mean the brake disc calipers? Most of us guys at my local track don't bother with them although my stock RDX calipers are still installed lol
@@BadShoppe Yes i mean the disc calipers. I dont buy chassis who cant fit this. There are many people who build bodies that look very realistic. But a realistic looking car, it also has brakes.
@nez0's Bad Shoppe Can I send you a prototype carbon flex chassis for the RD 2.0?
Yiss if you are interested :D
Why are da motors on different sides.....meaning why is da 4 gear on da opposite side....sorry im a noob 😅😊
The motor rotation direction would need to be reversed on RD2.0 if spur gear was left on the same side as RD1.0(and since only more expensive speed controllers have that setting option, Yokomo decided not to force people into doing that). That's just how gears work.
The main reason is because the RD 1.0 uses a 3-Gear transmission and the RD 2.0 uses a 4-Gear transmission
