Nez0's Bad Shoppe @ Strickly Sidewayz: MST RMX 2.5 RTR Trackside Unboxing
I was told this 2.5 version RTR RMX from MST is a beast...Can confirm! The updated 2.5 spec RMX RTR is very, very good and it is the new RTR platform benchmark for 2023 in my opinion. I recommended the predecessor spec 2.0 RMX RTR for years as it always worked well and was refined over that time. The updates in the 2.5 RTR spec works a treat and this car was so fun to drive, even with one hand ;) From opening up the box to on track action took only 10-15 min as I took my time to inspect the chassis and included items. I can easily recommend this RMX 2.5 RTR to a first timer to RC as their first car ever or a seasoned RC enthusiast drift or otherwise :) Expect lots of comparisons and head to head shootouts with the old spec and others as we are seeing more RTR spec RWD RC drift offerings coming to market :D Enjoy the video!

In the Euro Version You get little grub pins with a 1.5 mm hex head to mount the body post caps to the body posts in the bag with the body posts , check and see if they have them , I also had No body pins in the Kit version 🤷♂ , You should use them, they look nice and neat and also if you want afterwards you can bore out the body holes a little larger and fit the overdose bonnet latch clasps , Please keep churning the uploads out Nez , Love the regular uploads , Thanks for keeping us informed brother 🦁
Yisss i did get the lil 1.5mm grub pins for the body post caps but no body pins to secure the body afterwards lol. I have used them before and I do like them, I was just trying to see how fast I could get the car track ready :) Love the overdose hood latches as well :D Will do, thank you for watching and enjoying :D :D

Just got mine two weeks ago and took it to Broz Toyz and wow! Straight out of the box it was dialed and so easy to drift! Worth the money! Now I want the RMX 2.5 RS 😆

@@BadShoppe Sure did! It's very easy and you only need 1/8 to 1/4 throttle to drift nicely and it goes for hours! This is the new Benchmark as you said.

So, did it get there? I'm waiting for a local shop to get some in inventory. 1 to 2 weeks. It'll be my first rc in over 15 years. Had a bunch of fun with xmods as a kid 😅

what’s the difference between 2.0 and 2.5 and witch one do you prefer for a beginner?
couple things, planning a comparison video. Mostly its electronics positioning, bodies available, updated chassis bits like gearbox and tuning. I used to recommend the 2.0 as its minty but the 2.5 is even better so its 2.5 RMX RTR now :D
Would you do a comparison video between the 2.5 classic, the 2.5 S and the 2.5 RS please? I can't decide which one to get, or if the RTR is going to be more than enough car for me.
I could try but some of those I'm having trouble acquiring. The RMX 2.5RTR is quite nice as a starting point and is easily upgradable to RS spec :D

Get the RMX kit or go for a Yokomo RD 1.0? I dont mind building the kit, it would be fun. But which is a better chassis to run on? If not these two, what would you recommend?
It's a tough call these days as we are spoiled for choice. The RMX 2.5 chassis is a great update to an already decent platform. The RD 1.0 is a YD-2 Z and that has lots of parts support. Another great contender is the Reve-D RDX...has mega drive-ability (like its really good) from the box but less setting adjustments than both the RD 1.0 and RMX 2.5 from the box.
@@BadShoppe it’s a real tough choice… but thanks for you input! The reveD has jumped into my list of contenders too but I do like that the RD 1.0 has great part support over this. I’m thinking of the SD 2.0, saw your video on that today. Might be a contender as well so I can have a fully hopped up machine out the door. But I love the upgrading portion of the hobby too
Hi, can you unplug the gryo-sensor and drive the RC car as a non-drifter?
Yes it is possible however quite difficult to be honest. I've tried it, it is possible but for me highly un-enjoyable. Some say thay can do it and live with it but for 99% of us...gyro enabled :D

Yup, those two chassis are quite close together in terms of out of box performance :D

Yea seems the first common failure point is the servo, most people say from hitting too many walls lol. Still once you get a faster servo in there the car will come even more alive :D

Hello, these RTRs are available on many websites including the major retailers. The transmission is a sealed unit but the pinion and spur gear are not covered.
Can we get a update on this chassis and your thoughts on it! This seriously seems to be the best bang for buck rtr car that actually works good so it would be interesting to here your update on it after owning it for a few months!
Yiss can do! So far a couple people have come to my local track Strickly Sidewayz Club with the RMX 2.5 RTR and everyone says the same thing, they "LOVE IT!" For me I have only driven it a handful of times since the unboxing video and each time I drift it I always have a big smile on my face :D I think a proper shakedown video is due tho :D

The RMX 2.5 RTR is a perfect car for you to enter the RWD drifting scene I think in this case, it is a great machine out of the box and so far there have been at least 4 of them drifting at Strickly Sidewayz, each owner reporting that they love their RMX 2.5 RTR :)
Any difference on a blue light on the esc? I have a 2.0 but it’s showing a blue light instead of a green light?
hmmm interesting, might be a slightly different version of ESC, I will have to take a look.

On the RMX 2.0 RTR I have yes and it went well. I have not tried it on the RMX 2.5 RTR yet but I'm told it is also awesome :D
Where do you order your cars from ? I know this is the 2.5 version but can the 2.0 carbon fiber chassis be installed to the 2.5 ?
Mostly www.stricklysidewayzclub.ca I think it is possible to do that chassis plate swap.
How’s the sensorless system? I’m new to this and everyone seem to want sensored motors. Is it that much harder to drive with sensorless?
The sensorless system works alright, once you get used to it then you'll want a sensored motor for more precise throttle feel and more revs.

0o0o, with same electronics either RTR level or comp level these are very close. I think the RDX may beat the RMX 2.5S by a slim margin but its worth a shootout test :D

well I have driven both the RMX 2.5 RTR and the new Redcat RDS RTR...the RMX 2.5 RTR is far beyond the Redcat in terms of out of box performance. The RMX 2.5 RTR is the new standard RWD RTR Drift package in my opinion :D

Is there no issue with your stock servo? Others say there is an issue with the stock servo of the mst rmx 2.5
Mine eventually died but only after I hit the wall hard a few times. I was able to get a lot of life out of it by staying off the walls lol It's the first thing most people upgrade.

I used a DS Racing 4000Mah 100c 2S Shorty Lipo battery. It has internal 4mm bullet connectors so I used a Deans-to-Bullet wire adapter to run the car :)
I bought the brushed 2.5🤦🏽♂️is it the motor only the difference woth the brushless? Thanks!
I believe so yes. Just a lil excuse to upgrade later on ;)

Yes, MST has a nice range of bodies available separately that will directly fit this chassis.

Well no training video yet but it is a great idea. I can illustrate drifting techniques, theory, understanding the car etc :)
Deans to me means my 30 high end batteries can’t be used and i need to start over with dean batteries.
Deans to me means they are aware that other connectors exist besides the super old school white Tamiya style plug. It also means I can make a wire harness adapter for any other battery connector type much easier than the old white Tamiya plug as they are really hard to work with. Since this RTR does not use boost and we are not racing, we do not have a requirement for super low resistance which means we can create a deans wire harness to any other connector like Traxxas, XT60, or gold bullets and it will work just fine as that's what many hobbyists been doing for the past many years already both running vehicles and charging batteries.
They look sweet compared to the 2.0s may need to get one and sell one of the 2.0s😂
the 2.5 RTR drives even better than the 2.0 out of the box :D
