Sport utility vehicles are all but taking over the automotive market in the United States and the luxury segments are no exception. The Range Rover - which celebrated its 50-year anniversary in 2020 - is one of the originals. It continues to be a strong seller that commands a lot of respect.
Brands such as Porsche, Lamborghini and Aston Martin are all making sport utility vehicles - that means that the rarified air Range Rover occupies could soon see some new entries that chip away at its market share.

    • tbh apple prducts lost their "flex value" bcoz many windows and androids products caught up but its so annoying that if you have a $1500 android phone and a iphone 7 the person with the iphone 7 is "rich"

    • @@pink_mellow4846 umm windows and android clearly haven’t caught up yet Apple still leads the way in mobile soc’s by a wide margin. and by releasing the M1 MacBooks they’re rattling Intel’s stronghold in the pc industry. i think Apple’s case is similar to Range Rover because their products are incredibly capable and push the limits of innovation, but Apple has now become more of a status brand in the eyes of consumers as opposed to a tech firm

    • @@user-gr6cy8nx3z yes apple has become more of a "status brand" thats why people keep changing it not because their phones don't last but because they want to have the newest apple phone, android has caught up alot in the years example the google pixels are as good as apple phones but again it's about what you are looking at both of them give different things, even samsung oppo etc have become way more expensive than what they used to be even dell laptops have become huge competitors on macbooks but people still think that apple products is more of a status with all those "last one to stop eating wins a iphone 12". also apple and windows use different chips like i5-i7 chips run same as the m1 chips

Post taking up JLR Tata has brought in very good cars for India too which puts safety first (unlike other brands) eg: Altroz, HBX(to be launched soon), Tiago, Tigor, Harrier and iconic safari coming back in line up. Harrier uses the same build architecture of Land Rover but at a smaller ticket price.

Had an old 328 that broke down all the time but I loved the car so I also just started leasing them. If you have your own business, it’s also a good tax right off. However, reliable cars that don’t cost a lot to maintain don’t need to be leased because you pay a premium to drive the car with free service but never truly own it. With a BMW, it’s worth it because if something goes wrong, you’re screwed, but leasing a Volkswagen is just throwing money away.

  • Two things: first I don’t care who is making them Land Rover is an iconic British brand. Second: there have been a number of really good American SUV’s over the years. The problem is they can’t leave well enough alone. Change for the sake if change is idiotic. I owned and drove a 1994 Chevy Suburban 2500 6.5 litre turbo diesel 2 wheel drive with all leather interior. I drove the vehicle for 21 years and loved every minute of it. In all that time the only thing I did other than regular maintenance was to buy two new batteries for it at the 10 year point. That vehicle took me and my family absolutely everywhere we wanted it to go. It got surprisingly good mileage both highway and around town. It had loads of power for passing on the highway and for off-roading. It handled well on dirt roads including crossing streams and going through mud. I used it for camping, hunting and general exploring and without fail it did it all. This was all done with only 2 wheel drive. I credit its weight (heavy) with a powerful engine for such incredible performance. Of course the first time it needed new tires I skipped over the street tires it came with in favour of some very knobby all terrain tires. That choice in tires made it perform off-road even better than before and yet it still got good mileage on-road. It had more room inside than any vehicle I’ve seen then or now. And it had the absolutely most comfortable seats in any vehicle I’ve ever sat in. When my family from the U.K. came over to visit they referred to it as an “estate” car lol. As we toured all around the Pacific Northwest they behaved as if we were in a Rolls Royce or Bentley lol. When my dad died in his will were instructions that said if I didn’t buy a brand new truck for myself then I wouldn’t get the rest of my inheritance lol He new I would probably drive that vehicle for another 21 years lol So I did what was required and bought the new truck, but I kept that suburban in the family lol. I gave it to my son who is now raising his family with that vehicle lol. He and his wife love that thing! lol. It had just over 200,000 miles on it in 2015 when I gave it to my son. Now almost 7 years later it has over 300,000 miles on it and the only thing done to it besides regular maintenance was to replace the batteries again lol. That’s what I mean about change for the sake of change in that they had the perfect vehicle but changed it anyways. It’s a darn shame too. At least I get to see it every time I go to my sons house or he comes to mine lol. And amazingly even the paint (champagne colour) has lasted all this time. That Suburban is now 28 years old and still going strong. You gotta love a well built diesel engine. Cheers

  • The draw of Land Rover/Range Rover is a mostly emotional one. It's true that Land Rovers and Range Rovers have outstanding off-road/rough terrain performance; the 22nd Special Air Service Regiment (the UK's SAS commandos) have used Range Rovers or Land Rovers for this very reason. But if you r off-road adventure in the Rovers is limited to the occasional gravel road or maybe crossing a lawn, and the rest of it is on paved roads, even windy one, consider this: A BMW X5 SUV will outperform the Rover, be just as luxurious as the Rover, accelerate better than the Rover, handle more nimbly than the Rover with less body roll, and offer technology in the cabin and in the driver's cockpit that is better than the Rover's all for $20,000 less than the Rover. And the X5 is a much more reliable vehicle. But there is reality, and then there is emotion...
