I will never forget watching this live… crazy it’s been 3 years almost
One of the greatest matches of all time, I'm very glad to see it live, what legends they are, amazing.. Still going ... Tennis at its best when these two gladiators go toe to toe...
I just hope one last battle, from one of the greatest rivalries of all sports. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Cant believe Djokovic has 3 Roland Garros titles now. Thought he would be stuck on 1 but then to win 2 years after this again was fantastic
The third set is hats down the highest level of clay court tennis ever.
not even close
Why specify clay? Takes the meaning out of your statement.
@@declaninc He says that because the ao final 2012 was a tiny bit higher level for the surface it was played on, and the surface there was Hard.
Greatest tennis match in history, in terms of pure tennis quality, especially third set
😂😂😂
Exactly, no doubt, especially 3rd set
Since my Dad past away I was left being the only tennis fan in our family. Because of the first communion of my niece we were together that day and so my mum and both sisters watched this whole match with me. Since then my little sister is a tennis fan as well. My favourite match ever.
RIP to your Dad
@@valentinoangelo3270 Thank you.
Glad I was able to see this match by total chance, the performance level of both Djokovic and Nadal in this match has made a tennis fan for the rest of my life. Nothing but respect and love for both of these warriors. Idemo Nole!
Same here!
In my 30+ years of following/watching tennis, I have never seen matches comparable to the games/points these two amazing players produced. They are in a league of their own!
3:12:18 Le public français qui faisait savoir qui ne s'en irait pas malgré le couvre feu de l'époque. C'est tellement beau. Je pense que ça montre qu'ils savaient tous qu'ils assistaient à un moment de l'histoire
Even Macron said "hold on , let em cook." And allowed the audience to stay
Finally. Second or third best match of Djokovic's career.
My favorite all time match in Roland Garros What a battle probably the best 3rd set I ever seen in my all life !
That 3rd set is up there with arguably the greatest set of all time. Djokovic managed to overcome Nadal of THAT level is one of his best achievement in his tennis career till date. Djokovic and Nadal were both spitting fire and its crazy to think that Djokovic came out on top at French Open. The GOAT has surely come a long way. One of a kind.
It might be the greatest set in terms of value for a Djokovic fan. But there is no way you watch that set and make that statement abt it's quality. Nadal gifts Djoko 2 breaks and the TB. It's not even a top 10 set of their own rivalry

The day that changed tennis forever, the Goat debate got settled after a thriller at Phillipe Chatrier
The GOAT debate didn't get settled .. Djokovic won 19th slam here and equalled Roger ,rafa 20th slam record by beating weak gen berretini in Wimbledon final ..but after rafa became the first man to reach 21st slam in Australia open GOAT debate settled..after that Djokovic jealous guy played every slam till now to get 24
@@Laland_1196 he has beaten Nadal at his home. Something Rafa never achieved in his career. Debatte closed, Rafas Corona AO 22 doesnt count

@@Laland_1196 well than Sinner is better than Nadal? And Novak is better than both? Bro Novak has every tennis record, hes the goat Theres no debate anymore, Nole is in the debate of being the greatest athlete of all time
@Laland_1196 it's more than just slams. Weeks at number 1, ye1, masters and world tour finals titles are all contributors. Winning all 4 slams in a row helps too
For the people who question the level of this match I want to point out that Djokovic had 50 winners to Nadal`s 48 ON CLAY. That`s a huge number of winners from both sides on this surface AND don`t forget that they are the hardest players to hit winners against because of their speed and defensive skills. Massive hitting from both players.
Absolutely historical, pivotal, amazing match!!
Greatest ever 4 setter matcg ever. PERIOD.
@@TvRFReloaded True. I get amazed at people speaking "Djokovic is not good on clay". Come on now.
@@natoskull2 Doesn't he have the record for most qaurter finals at borth Rome and Roland Garros? I know getting more titles is better, but those stats speak volumes about Djokovic's abilities on the surface.

Definitely the best clay match ever!! From both quality and drama angle, this is a top notch match.
The best quality clay match ever! Djokovic vs Nadal is the highest level of 🎾! This is a time capsule classic match!
No offence to roger but these two are from different planet. Roger is a product of natural talent thats why he never felt the need to work hard so his matches are less intense whereas these two are similar they play each point as its a match point thats why its so intense
when u have one hand backhand its a lot of work. its just " rumor " that he doesnt work. for have this beautiful tennis, its a lot of work
Federer is nowhere near the level these 2 Goats produced... it's laughable
3:19:20 the balls.... to attempt that shot at that moment....wow
The one match that I always feel grateful to have watched on live despite the late end (India). Probably the last time where both Rafa and Novak went toe to toe against each other in a major (excluding the next year quarter as that wasn’t this legendary)

Tennis is in safe hands with the next gen, but I truly believe we won't ever see the likes of Djokovic, Federer, Nadal ever again. The level these guys produced at 34 and 35 is just crazy. To be able to play at the age of 34 and 35 at a level that warrants discussion of whether the match in question should be considered the greatest match in RG history is something.

Despite being 5-0 up in the first set it was Djokovic who looked more comfortable in this match. Nadal was going for too much outrageous winners every time. He almost wasted that 5-0 lead and was facing deuce from 40-0 up on 5-3 game. This gave Djokovic a confidence to fight and play his natural game. Nadal also looked too much exhausted in the second and third set. That missed easy volley in tie breaker of third set still haunts. As a Rafa fan I can surely say that this was one of the toughest loss he had in his career along with Wimbledon 2018 & AO 2012.
Best match ever, much better than AO final 2012, RG Semifinal 2013 and Wimbledon finals 2008 and 2019...
Not really
Yes, a lot of outstanding winners from both sides. That is even special considering the fact that Nadal and Djokovic are two best defensive players of all times and they are playing on clay.
I love this match

66,6 actually 😂
Only Soderling and Djokovic defeted Nadal on RG. Djoko did it twice, 2015 and 2021. Djokovic GOAT.

What if Rafa had converted the SP in the 3rd set! But then again, there can be a lot of if's. Novak was the deserved winner from where he came back after going 0-5 down in the opening set.
pls schwartzman vs thiem rg 2020 qf
Amazing 3rd set tie-break. Nole got only 2 easy points from Nadal’s errors; he had to construct his own 5 points from winners or forced error. On the other hand, Nadal got 3 easy first points from Nole’s unforced errors, but he could hit only 1 winner afterwards.
Nole is a mental beast. Imagine having a terrible record againt dopal in RG and still making yourself to play your best. Truly never give up mentality.
LET'S GOOOOOO 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
As a Rafan, I have to admit this will probably go down as the most consequential match in big 3 history. I genuinely think had Nadal won this and extended his lead in the slam race to 21-18 he wouldn't have been caught until maybe 2024.
Djoko's biggest win against nadal
Both times Nadal been beaten here by Djokovic (‘15 and ‘21) its more him beating himself, worst szn in 15 and injured in 21. I would say the same had Nadal beaten Djokovic on hard court in 2017/ early 2018 with Djokovics injuries
When ever Nadal lose His fans Nadal is injected or not playing good. And Nadal never won against Novak in hard court in last 11 years. 2014-2024 H2h Clay 5-7 Novak won 5 matches out of 12 on clay. Hard 10-0 Grass 1-0.

He almost had him in 2022 as well. Novak has definitely figured out Nadal on clay.
What do you mean almost has him? Rafa won sets one and three 6-2, was then up 3-0 in the second set, and then won the fourth winning 5 of the last 6 games…

#NovakDjokovic just proved that he can beat Nadal on his favourite surface #clay #rolandgarros #nolefam ❤
Not gonna lie, the 2022 match was better. Never nice to see a match end on an injury
This umpire is awesome. Three successful corrections in two and a half sets.
Amazing to see how law of averages get you. Nadal was not himself during this day with so many double faults and unfroced errors with the backhand. So similar to how Djokovic was not himself against Sinner at AO2024. Seems like to beat them at their fav slam, one player has to be slightly off and other has to switch on the God mode. Even Novak described this as one of his top 3 grand slam performances ever.
Tell Nadal about this law because he really needs it. He NEVER beat Djokovic in Australian Open. He didn't even win a single set on Hard-court against Djokovic since 2013. The law of average discriminate with Nadal. 🤣🤣
Nadal seemed out of breath at the end of the second. Went for crazy winners he usually doesn’t go for, and didn’t got the brake because of that
Anyone who says Nadal was injured in this match is absolutely blind
Nole el mas grande
Nadal made more errors in the first set here than he did in the whole 2020 final.
this match is huge and epic sad to think some rafa fans discards it, saying "Nadal was hurt, it doesnt count"

If they met in Australia open 2017 and 2018 Djokovic would lost in straight sets to rafa. .
Haha good joke. Again my point is Novak was stopped most of the times at RG only by Rafa the greatest clay player. But the same cannot be Rafa at AO. Rafa hasn't given his best efforts at AO and WB in recent years. It's pretty evident from the numbers
